Country Host Inn — Hotel in Texarkana

Everything about this hotel seemed to be on the cheap, except the rates. The billboard on the highway advertised $28, the sign out front says $32, but I was charged $38 with no discounts for AAA. The exterior looked like it has been recently painted, but the facility overall was somewhat run down, as if the aesthetics of a new paint job would cover the crumpling stairs or rusting rails.||||The clerk who checked me in was rude, at best. I asked for a good place to eat dinner and he told me Denny's or IHOP. I asked about the seafood restaurant nearby and the he raised his voice at me: "ONLY EAT AT DENNY'S OR IHOP", though he never said why.||||My room was upstairs (no elevator) with a breathtaking view of nearby I-30. Even with the air-conditioner running (fortunately it was working well in the 95+ degree heat), I could hear the trucks along the highway. The deadbolt worked on the door, but there was no security chain. The upstairs ice machine didn't work so I had to go downstairs to get ice, which was very inconvenient.||||The TV seemed to work OK, but half of the promised 55 channels didn't work: they were nothing but "snow". The HBO didn't work either and there was no channel guide in the room or TV Guide channel so I had to keep looking for something to watch.||||The bed was hard and kind of lumpy in addition to being short-sheeted (queen bed with sheets for a full size bed). ||||The shower had plenty of hot water, but the towels were small and thin. There was a wash cloth, a bath towel, but no face towel. The shower door itself didn't latch peoperly and allowed water all over the floor... a definite safety hazard.||||The free breakfast was a joke: donuts and coffee... and not very good donuts.Why even have "free breakfast" if it's only donuts & coffee? ||||I overslept in the morning and was coming out of the shower just before 9am where there was a loud knock on the door "Housekeeping". The housekeeper tried to come in and I said "I'm still in here". She then asked me "are you checking out by 11" and I replied I was. When I went to turn in my key, I told the clerk what room I was in and that I was checking out. "OK" is all she said... no "thank you" or "please...

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! AGAIN HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!! My wife and I were trying to get a room for a week and we got the room. When we got to the room, it was nasty as it comes. When we tried walking in the room we had to turn sideways just to walk by the bed to the bathroom. Not to mention, the walls were soo dirty!!! The room it self looked as if somebody had been murdered there. My wife was in tears the moment we stepped in there. We paid $175 for the room so we weren't expecting anything special, but it could have been better than that. I have never been so disgusted in my whole life. Yes I have seen soo nasty places in my life but nothing that even compared to there.

When I went back to the front office to get my money back, there was an even bigger problem. I was not rude at all. I simply asked them to put my money back on my card. The lady asked for my card and I gave it to her. The problem with that was, she didn't put the money back on my card. She took more money off my card. She got her husband and he was extremely rude to me. He kept telling me I better not try to get mouthy with him. So yeah it started to tick me off.

I told them I will have this handled property and called authorities to come assist me there. When they got there, they told me there was nothing they could do about it. So shows calling for people of the law doesn't do any good at all. It's a waste of time.

When all said and done, my wife and I will NEVER and I mean NEVER be returning there. As well as we highly recommend to everyone else in the world to stay clear of there...

The house keepers was nice, two of the females who works the desk in the office were nice, but the owner and the maintenance guy were completely and utterly jack wagon's towards tenants who's staying there, people constantly asking you for cigarettes, some asking you if you know where to get narcotics when you don't know where to get any and that you don't mess with narcotics, Paramedics and cop's are always coming around. Before a friend of mine got the room the toilet wasn't clean, and before my friend switched the room to my name the toilet was still dirty till I cleaned it on Sunday the very same day that the owner said that he isn't going to extend my room because the maintenance guy lied to him about something, all because I asked the maintenance guy on Saturday if he could fix the chain in the tank of the toilet. The owner literally gave me one hour to get my stuff out of the room, and then told me to get all of my stuff and my dog off the property or he'll call the cops on me. Oh and on top of that the room is full of Cockroaches and Bed Bug's. I literally had to have a friend of mine to help me get all of my stuff put into 5 shopping carts and pull them to another hotel. If I were you never go here at all. If I could give this place a negative thousand stars I would. This place needs to be shut down for health violations and safety violations.
