Once again, we booked the Grand Suite/Hanna Matilda adjoining arrangement for our meeting point on our way to Mackinac Island, Michigan with our parents. ||||The experience was even better than the first! Please feel free to look up my previous review.||||Patrick is the inn-keeper now, as the previous inn-keeper has moved on, and DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! He is a GREAT COMMUNICATOR, even calling to check on us so that he is sure to be on hand, ready to great us upon arrival, checking with us every time before he goes to the market to be sure we don't need anything, chatting with us, etc.. He treats his guests like FAMILY - PERIOD! We felt so incredibly WELCOME!!||||The B&B itself is in even better shape than it was on our first visit, as more rooms have been completed in the "work in progress". ||||That being said, we LOVE the beauty and elegance of the place! The furniture is priceless and the BEDDING is DIVINE! The beds are perfection and the linens SMELL SO GOOD!!!!! Lets throw in the soaps, shower gels, bath salts, etc.! Oh, MY!!!!! Oh, yes! I can't forget the THICK, THIRSTY bath towels - the BEST!!||||Convenience is perfectly in place, too! Wi-Fi? Check! Unlimited bottled water on demand? Check! Need a fridge to store leftovers? Check! Need help with your luggage? Check - Patrick's ready to help! Want to save money and heat up leftovers for dinner? You got it!||||Comfort? The A/C is cold and the blankets are plentiful! Need heat? Of course, that's in place too!||||With every B&B comes breakfast. Patrick takes this PERSONALLY! It's so wonderful to wake up and smell breakfast cooking, knowing he's got it perfectly timed so that you have time to enjoy a coffee (from the strategically placed Keurig ) and grab a relaxing shower under the rainwater shower-head before breakfast is served. The beautiful table setting will whet your pallet for the bountiful breakfast to come - fresh (and I mean, FRESH) fruit with yogurt, piping hot coffee, orange juice, a tasty egg dish with fresh from-the toaster-to-the-table English Muffins or very creatively done French Toast...Patrick's breakfast will set you in position for a wonderful day!||||Again, this B&B experience has been wonderful for us....once 5 years ago (see my previous review) and twice this round (on the way up, and on the way back down).||||You won't see any pictures with this review because the B&B has already been very well represented by current pictures plus my previous review.||||The bottom line? BOOK...
Read moreMy wife and I enjoy staying at B&Bs around the country. We often seek out older homes and mansions. So when we read about the Casey-Pomeroy House, and saw the reviews, we booked right away. The house is quite unique, with such a history! After sitting vacant for several years, it is being gradually returned to its former glory. I cannot imagine the time and the money that have gone into this, with more still needed. This is a huge dream to undertake.||||Patrick, the innkeeper, is just right in his role here. Always wanting to help, very engaging, a great chef, with an infectious laugh that rings true. He does his best to make sure everyone has a good time.||||While I admire the house, and I cannot say enough positive about Patrick, we found our visit there less than perfect. We weren't prepared for the fact that the house sits in inner city Toledo. While downtown is only a couple blocks away, these are not blocks you would walk at night. The house is lovely to walk through, and each room is unique. But little things left us scratching our heads: nary a kleenex anywhere in our room; a washcloth for one of us, but not both; coffee at a Keurig machine in the morning, but no cream or creamer; windows that have apparently not been cleaned in a long time; being as old as it is, air conditioning is limited.||||We do not wish to turn away anyone reading this review from a stay here. This house deserves to be made into an exceptional B&B. Patrick is a gracious host; you'll love him. So go! Visit! Just be aware that you may find a limitation...
Read moreDon't let the surrounding neighborhood scare you at all. It's quiet and the house has its own parking lot. I stayed in the Pomeroy room, but hope to stay in one of the larger rooms the next time I go. I got to see all of the rooms (no one else was staying during my time there) and all of them are lovely in different ways. One thing I found surprising is how quickly the shower temperature got hot. It was instant. I learned from Stu, the architect that has been working on the restoration for nearly 2 decades, that the house has a unique water recirculating system...no hot water tank, the water just circulates around the house, 24/7. Amazing infrastructure, literally behind the scenes.||||Absolutely stunning restoration. If you are a fan of historic homes (and I am!), then this place will amaze you in size and the scope of the work. A labor of love and a lovely place to stay, with great hosts.I had a great time having quiet breakfasts with one of the innkeepers (Toni). I plan to return and bring my husband with me next time....
