Booked 3 rooms for 3 couples. THIS IS A VERY BAD NEIGHBORHOOD!!! We saw it first hand driving down the road! It didn't look or feel safe!! There were people just hanging out everywhere. The outside was very ran down! Trash in the yard and unkept landscaping. Broken out window over the front door and door replaced with a metal industrial looking door. We were taken into the house by a side door not the front door. Inside there was a lg. piece of crown molding just sitting on the ground and a work tool. The home was very dark and very dingy. None if the windows were open blinds to let any light in. He turned on a light room by room as he showed us the house. None of us were impressed but only disappointed what we saw. Worn out looking antique furniture and dingy and dusty appearance to each room. The home itself had pretty design of that time period, but certainly was not a polished B and B to host customers. It didn't look clean nor was it. The price is only called a good price for that area. My room had the curtain hanging off the rid in one window. No robes provided like advertised and we had a separate bathroom down the hall. Our door had etched glass windows which our friends made us aware of them being see through! That's creepy knowing most guest will not have friends in nearby rooms that can tell them that. The door had a knob hanging loose and Patrick pointed it out but made no mention it was getting fixed. Our bed was listed as a queen but was a full. The mattress dipped in in the middle. The pictures do not show the old yellowed air condition units in the windows of the bed rooms. We herd sirens all night and loud bouts of music. The windows were filthy when we tried to look out our blinds. The room was very dusty! The bathroom down the hall we had for our use was not cleaned. There was dried up toothpaste on the wall, mirror was streaked from steam if the last customers showed use. The sink had a dead spider in the sink and a hair. The shower floor tile was very dirty looking. There was a vacuum cleaner left out in the main hallway downstairs hiding and exposed damage on the wall in the corner. A ladder was just leaning against another wall in another hallway. There was a roped off staircase that said do not enter. It looked to be a part of the house in an unfinished state. The kitchen counters were not clean! Pans etc... sitting out on the stove. We were considering not staying and take a loss but we knew he had shopped for food for our breakfast the next morning. We didn't feel good about eating what he cooked. We did a little. The sweet rolls (from a can) were completely burned on bottom. Patrick is an unkept looking just. Greeted us and cooked the next morning in a tank top with hairy chest exposed! We were staying there all night by ourselves. We're not told that in the advertisement. There were no security on the house except a ring doorbell on that side door. There was no B and B advertisement at the home. We were told by him that there was a light and camera in the parking lot. We were told by two ladies from Toledo that we met on Mackinac Island that this was a very bad part of Toledo to stay at and to not leave our belongings in the car. I texted Patrick and informed him what we were told. His reply was... "It is the inner city" and we haven't been broke into yet. We are 3 senior couples who aren't usually scared but our stay there we were very uncomfortable! One of our men brought his gun inside just for peace of mind. This was the worse experience and we haven't stayed in countless B & B's in America and Europe. If you think your getting a good deal..... well...
Read moreBeautiful building and wonderful guest room. The breakfast was filling and delicious and Patrick was fun to chat with. Just a warning... this place is still being worked on. The rooms that are complete are beautiful. You will go in a side door as the front door is not currently being used. Main rooms are done enough to enjoy but you can still notice where repairs are being completed. The area where it is located seems a bit sketchy but we had no problems. The one thing that I didn't enjoy was that our bathroom was across the hall from our room. Must have missed that part as it is clearly written in the description. Luckily, we had the place to ourselves so didn't have to worry about other guests. In spite of ongoing repairs taking place I would still recommend. There is a front porch swing to enjoy the cooler mornings. Will have to come back to see the repairs complete. Would love to know the paint color for the Hannah...
Read moreBEAUTIFUL! GORGEOUS! SUBLIME! I celebrated my 30th birthday trip at the Vistula Rose and it was nothing short of divine. The sheer luxury and indulgence of this incredible historic home will make all your cares slip away as soon as you enter. The mansion is HUGE, the ceilings are HUGE and the atmosphere is very much as though you're Belle exploring the Beast's castle. We just so happened to be the only ones staying at the time, in the Pomeroy room, so we had the run of the place. Patrick the innkeeper made us an exquisite breakfast every morning and always had a recommendation or information to share about the town and nearby areas. It even snowed for me! The location is perfect for exploring downtown Toledo, I felt like we discovered something new each day. If you feel like treating yourself, this is the place. I can't say enough wonderful things about this trip and I cannot WAIT...
