As I previously said, my grandson is visiting. He just bought a "Willys" Jeep. And 2nd on his list was heading to Toledo to see where his favorite car was built. So, we got in my car and drove to the see the Jeep Factory. We kept looking for public parking and the gates were closed. I offered to climb a fence, and my grandson decided it was not the best idea, I took photos and a video (that won't upload). From there, we decided to have a look at downtown Toledo. The one thing I love about Ohio, is how instead of making residents drive miles to a park, they bring the park to the people. We happened upon International Park. Read moreIts not really a park. It's a sidewalk along the river with lots of flags. And geese. Nice place to go for a walk or go to one of the fancy restaurants. You'll be on the east side of Toledo. Across the street, there's a place where they've paved the road and put in some fancy lightposts. Down a block or so, you'll be surrounded by boarded up houses with the Toledo fire department's "let this place burn to the ground" sticker on it. Read moreInternational Park in Toledo is one of the "great quiet places" in an urban area. Close enough to the City to see all of the skyline buildings, but from across the Maumee River, not from in the midst of traffic and typical city chaos. Watch the geese, watch the boats, watch the people, sit in the shade of a tree and catch your breath. City life doesn't all have to be at the faster tempo that some folks seem to thrive and most folks would like to escape. Go ahead, escape... at least...
