The best way to describe our stay is being forgotten. The hotel was hosting a charity gala, which is fine. However when we arrived and checked in, small details were left out. I was unaware that we needed to use our room key to get to the gust rooms since there is a restaurant on the top floor of the building that is accessible to the general public. I returned to the hotel later that night with friends and sat at the bar/restaurant in the lobby and we were ignored for an hour and-a-half. We had to wave someone down to get some drinks ( I wish I would have asked for this gentleman's name since he alone made our stay better). He kindly comped the round of drinks. However, when my friend asked for another, it never arrived. After my friends left my husband and I went to our room and at about 11:30 PM the fire alarm goes off.... great. Well we had to get dressed to head outside since you should always treat something like that as real. When we get to the main floor we see staff running around and I managed to speak with someone that looked important, though admittedly I don't know, he said the dishwasher set off the alarm. Now I am aware that steam can cause a false positive, but if that was the case that may be a poor place to have the smoke detector. The next morning we head back to the lobby for breakfast, which is a separate charge but more on that in a moment. And we speak to a woman and ask if this is the correct spot to get that breakfast. She said that it was, then quite rudely asked if we had a reservation and she is very booked because it's mother's day. I wish I could of seen the look on my face because less than a third of the tables were being used and it was 10 am. I get having reservations but we were not told to make one. It took everything I had to point out the lack of busyness in the restaurant. We she sat us down the waiter from the previous night made a joke about being ignored (which is my sense of humor so no offense taken), and he'd be right with us. Then another waiter, whose best personality trait is that it seemed like we were wasting his time brought the menus and said he'd be back. We looked over the menus and saw prices listed and were a little confused. The awesome waiter stopped by and I asked how everything worked and he mentioned that the front desk was supposed to give us a ticket. So something else forgotten on our stay there. He apologized and said that I would need to head to the front desk, I did and they quickly gave it to me and apologized. With the meal issue resolved we ordered and I can say that my husband's breakfast, the bannana french toast was amazing, and my conred beef hash was quite good. So we wrap up, and not another person was seated during our time there by the way, and get ready to check out. We check out and then present the valet ticked to get our car, to which the said it would be 4 minutes. Oddly specific but that's fine....well 4 minutes come and go. Then nearly 10 minutes more. I ask the valet what was taking so long and they apologized and asked where my car was repeatedly. I hear the radio chatter that he was looking at it right then. So at the point they haven't even moved my car. A few moments later my car arrives and head on to the next part of our vacation. For being the premier hotel in downtown Toledo, my home town, this experience left a lot to be desired. From being ignored and forgotten at every possible opportunity, to being spoken too rudely be the restaurant employees I would say that the price to stay at the hotel is far from worth it. If we stop by into Toledo again and need to stay I may give this hotel another chance, but right now I can't. And to the employee that treated us nicely and talked to us about our stay and vacation I can't thank him enough! He is the only person that made my husband, friends, and myself feel welcome! And I am sorry I didn't ask for your name to place it in this rather...
Read moreWe are from out of town and were staying here for OUR wedding in Toledo. There was no clear indication that self parking was down the street or on the road so by mistake, I pulled into a parking spot in front of the hotel. A gentleman apart of the valet came and rudely told us we can’t park there. I said I’m sorry but I didn’t know and no problem, I’ll move. I asked about self parking and he indicated “the parking garage over there or on the street.” So we decided to do valet since we had all our wedding stuff packed into our car. We pull up for valet and he asked with a dirty look on his face “only coming for dinner?” and I said “no? We’re staying the whole weekend.” He takes my info and leaves. He’s also assisting my parents right in front of us which he was all smiles so I’m not sure why we didn’t receive the same treatment? He gets my parents a cart for their luggage and 4 different valet staff walk by while we unload about 6-8 bags from our car and NOT ONE offer to get us a cart… Finally I say excuse me and ask a gentleman walking by and he, very clearly annoyed, just tells us where they’re located… I understand we parked where we weren’t supposed to but we weren’t rude about it and didn’t know any better so I’m not sure why the staff was so rude. Then going into the hotel the staff never smiled once. They processed our check in but were never even the slightest bit welcoming. They also did not tell us anything about the benefits I paid for (“concierge access”, all I was told was on floor 2) have no idea what it was and all I found was an “executive lounge” and my card wouldn’t allow access. We also got to our room, as did my sister whose room I paid for, and neither of us could access our rooms. Had to go back down and request new cards. No apology, just “oh they don’t work?” Then once in our room it was incredibly disappointing for the amount we paid for the weekend. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls, yellow stains along the ceiling, stains all over the chairs, curtains were getting stuck and wouldn’t open, no where to hang long garments, we asked for a walk-in shower but got a tub, ceiling to floor windows were filthy, and the sink had a huge crack in the marble counter. Valet was rude the entire weekend and took almost 40 mins to retrieve my parents car who were late to my wedding because Valet claimed they “never received the request.” The phone has no information on how to call down to the front desk so we had to physically go down to request more towels and wash cloths. Overall this was an incredibly disappointing experience and this hotel should not be considered 4...
Read moreWe stayed here this past weekend for a wedding. The room was okay, but the bathroom was grimy. They really need to pay more attention to detail when cleaning the showers. There were also orange stains on one of the bath towels. The response from the front desk was “Yes, we’ve heard that feedback from others.” No apology or anything. This was coming from someone who claimed to be the front desk manager. Not to mention, when we walked up to check out she was very rude. She didn’t even look up from the computer or greet us in any way. All she said was “I’ll be with you in one moment”, as she was showing another employee some thing on the computer. The valet was really good with everything until we checked out. I got down to my vehicle and it was just sitting there running with the window down and the key in it. Would’ve been no problem for someone to hop in and take it. I have a dash cam in my vehicle, and this happened three times during my stay. Not only is this a huge security issue, but with the price of gas why are you leaving my vehicle run in the driveway for more than 15 minutes at a time? When I confronted one of the valet about it, his response was “yeah, that’s just something we do”. They also didn’t even bother to check the valet ticket. The restaurant on the 12th floor is really the best part about this place. When we arrived on Saturday afternoon it was no problem to go up and get a few drinks and a pizza before we went to the wedding. The bartenders were absolutely fantastic. The next morning however, we went up for brunch with family and the host was rude, wouldn’t let us sit down until everyone was present, and the place, at that point, was more or less empty. We ended up sitting outside and when we got to the table I requested that the chairs and table be wiped off, because clearly they hadn’t been since the night prior. He said OK and then literally went and did something else, totally ignoring my request. The manager, who is a real delight, quickly came over and assisted with wiping down the table. She’s really great and clearly takes pride in her job. Having said all of this, the food and drinks are really good. Unfortunately, this hotel is either understaffed or has trouble hiring quality staff members, while also dealing with deficiencies in housekeeping and customer service quality. Luckily, I don’t foresee any situations where I will be required to...
