I walked into a hornet's nest Wednesday night for the CT premiere of The Innkeepers, and the staff was polite, cheerful and appeared to handle large events like this on a daily basis! (BTW the movie was really good too!) Knowing the hotel was built in 1891, and the owners are keeping the building in it's historic haunted glory, is exactly what you will get. The lobby has a welcoming feeling, which has a piano and a fireplace. Ms. Conley's chair is here also, but is reserved for her only. The elevator is a step back in time also, since you need an attendant to run it! The rooms were cared for fairly well. Room #356 is a decent size even for economy and felt much larger with the high ceilings. The bathrooms were nice and clean, The only reason I didn't give a five star rating from me is the rooms weren't vacuumed with care along the edges and furniture.
So, if you are looking for a box hotel with all the amenities such as a gym, pool, etc the Yankee Pedlar isn't for you. If you want a hotel with nice clean rooms that are well attended, great personable staff, in downtown Torrington which is in some beautiful country, and a building that has more character and ambiance that you can imagine, then this is the...
Read moreI stayed here for my brother's wedding with my parents and 2 sisters. We had 2 rooms, both with 2 double beds. The second day we were there, the owner approached my mother, who had booked the room, and accused her of lying to him and trying to cheat him because there were 5 adults, and his mind there should have only been 4 adults since we had only 4 beds. The entire duration of our stay, the owner lurked in the shadows, counting how many we had, and generally being creepy. The atmosphere was authentic, but service was pretty horrible, and had absolutely NO extra "comforts" (anything modern like a fridge or microwave). We left the inn upset at the...
