After my second c-section, I was hesitant to enter a yoga studio. But I’ve heard it said that sometimes we need yoga the most when we want it the least. I am glad, that with some encouragement from my husband to do something I once enjoyed, I found my way back on the mat. When I landed there at Sanctuary Power Yoga, I found a piece of the peace I’d been seeking.
Heather and her amazing team have been incredibly supportive. Always welcoming, they have encouraged me during my personal health journey and celebrated wins along the way—yes, even when I joyfully exclaimed “I did a push-up!” at the end of class. I appreciate the gentle reminders that are provided throughout any class to listen to your body, let go of comparison, and approach each practice with grace. "In your own time, in your own way."
The spacious yoga studio full of mats is quite a sight! A truly awesome place that brings together a booming supportive community that expands beyond those walls. I loved the outdoor classes at the park and lake this summer with birds swooping in to join.
Yoga has somehow become a part of my regular routine, not just for my body, but for my mind and spirit. Some days getting on the mat are easier than others but consistently leaving feeling better is great motivation to keep coming back. With gratitude I encourage anyone and everyone interested to give Sanctuary Power Yoga a try- whatever class you decide, settle in on the mat and find yourself.
Once there you'll see it is more than a studio—it’s a way to a space that provides the time to lighten up, breathe, and just be, present. A space you can return to again, on and off the mat. Start as you are, approach the practice and yourself with nonjudgement. You might find exactly...
Read moreI signed up for unlimited yoga classes in October at the studio in Torrington and have been going about 3 times per week. The power flow and open flow classes are heated (bring a towel and water!) which is a nice respite during these colder months. There is a good amount of variety in the flow from one class to the next so it’s never repetitive or boring. The instructors do a great job of explaining different modifications and encouraging students to work within their bodies’ limits and do what feels right for them in that particular moment. They create a welcoming, comfortable environment. On Thursday evenings they offer a candlelit gentle/restorative class which I look forward to each week. It’s so relaxing (a break from the faster pace of the flow classes) and often focuses on the health of the spine and joints. The studio itself is a good size, can fit about 50 people on their mats, but most classes I have attended have around 20-30. They sometimes offer discounts for unlimited monthly rates and special classes for holidays like the Halloween blacklight class and the Winter Solstice with candles...
Read moreI've been to many yoga studios, but this one stands out as a true gem. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a space that is both expansive and inviting. The large windows allow natural light to flood the room, highlighting the beautiful exposed brick and warm wood floors. It's an open space that somehow manages to feel cozy and intimate at the same time.
The variety of classes offered caters to all levels, from beginners to seasoned yogis. Each instructor brings something unique, but what truly sets this studio apart is Heather, the owner. Her love for people and passion for yoga are palpable in every aspect of the studio. She has created an environment where you not only improve your practice but also feel a deep sense of community and belonging.
Whether you're looking to deepen your yoga practice or just want a serene place to unwind, this studio is the perfect sanctuary. I can't recommend it...
