Brinx Café & Wine Bar — Restaurant in Torrington

My fiancé and I tried this place for the first time today per a friend’s recommendation. We were very excited to try this place.

The food was good, and so was the French toast latte that we got, albeit a bit pricey.

We then tried the lavender latte. It was so overpowering in taste that we could not drink it at all. We usually love lavender lattes and we were surprised by this. It really was quite bad to be honest.

I asked the server if there was anything she could do to fix it, but she was standoffish and wasn’t very caring in her response. She said she would make us something else but also charge us, and in general was not very friendly.

I suppose that’s technically fair, but for a first time visit this was off-putting. Maybe we hit this place at a bad time, as I’m seeing almost overwhelming positive reviews by others.

Went in expecting, well, not sure what I was expecting... Staff was great, funny, and helped me decide on an order. Got a great chia, little on the smaller side of medium, but still enough, with a similarly small price, which was nice. Also, got a breakfast sandwich. Interesting combinations on the sandwiches, they do have a classic breakfast but I went with Nate's, a cinnaraison bagel BEC with chipotle mayo, again an interesting combo, might try something different if had to choose but definitely not bad. What a find out in Torrington, CT! I've always loved this area, and seem to discover fun and eclectic shops scattered about on each trip, but I was truly thrilled to visit Brinx for the first time. What a wonderful staff, fun vibe, and INCREDIBLE French Toast latte I had! I mean, this thing was drenched in flavor, and was the perfect compliment to the yummy turkey BLT we had. I wish they were closer to us, but it just means that we'll have more fun roads to drive to head back...
