The View was a 5+! And the owner also earned high marks for his communication skills. The cabin was lovely and well-appointed, with everything you would need for a fun getaway. They even had a selection of board games. The bathroom had plenty of fluffy towels and the bed was comfortable although smaller than what we’re used to (we have a King at home) Unfortunately there were some issues that were less than ideal. The main issue was accessibility. I had booked the reservation based on the website description that says “Suitable for seniors or individuals with limited mobility. Wheelchair accessible.” I have bone on bone arthritis in both knees so accessibility is always our main concern. I did ask about the entrance before we booked and was assured there was “just 1 small step”. As even that can be an issue, we brought our own step to make it easier. From what we observed, there were No cabins that could have been considered wheelchair accessible, so I think that description should be removed from the website. The floor of the cottage we stayed in had a definite slope to it – enough to feel as you walked across the floor. Not a deal-breaker but something to be aware of for anyone with stability issues. The grounds were lovely, with lots of places to sit (again, not accessible except by stairs) and several fire rings with wood provided. It really is a lovely place – just not the best for anyone with...
Read moreMy husband, two boys (10 & 3) and I stayed at the Ledges Resort & Marina Shipwatch property in late September and it was a lovely experience. We had a great, relaxing time during our stay. After having surgery for organ donation in late summer, this was a welcome get away! Both beds were so soft and comfortable, the living room, bathroom and kitchen area were perfect and had just about everything we needed. We were grateful to have appliances, cookware, dinnerware and silverware readily available for us! Some things I'd suggest to be included in the cottage would be a tissue box, a broom/Swiffer and maybe a shower shelf to hold toiletries/soap inside the shower for future guests. We also especially enjoyed having a campfire with the kids every night--thanks so much for the wood bundles!
In addition, the property itself is beautifully kept. There is a large open grassy area behind three of the cottages. It was perfect for the boys to run around, roll around and play. It was a nice quick walk to the office, if you wanted to pop in for a quick question. The property overlooks the river and we were even able to see the Boldt Castle from our kitchen window! A lovely view indeed!
The owners were friendly and accommodating and were easily reached by phone call or text. We look forward to returning, hopefully with a larger party, in the near future! Thanks...
Read moreCelebrated my 57th birthday with my kids at the Gatehouse 2 cottage at the Ledges Resort. What a great experience. Loved the personal touches across the site and the cottages all have their own individual style. Water skis on the wall and framed fish art set the tone for our stay on the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay. So much to see and do for the outdoor enthusiast and nature lover. The Ledges cottages are strategically placed across the six acres. There is an in-ground pool although we were out of season. They have their own boat rental and canoe and kayaks are available as well. In the center is all this is a high ledge with a gazebo with great view of Boldt Castle. We were here in the fall, things had slowed down, but we enjoyed the leaves which were at peak and cooler temps. So beautiful to just sit on the deck with a hot coffee watching the nautical traffic. Our days were spent exploring nearby Kring Point State park and Keewaydin State Park. Our favorite area is still the town beach and river walk with the footbridge to Casino Island. Kids love sitting there just taking in the post card views! The Ledges is the perfect place for 1000 Islands adventures! Highly recommend. We loved it! Great place to celebrate a...
