We went to Windows on the Bay for the first time last year (2023); we had stayed for our wedding night and decided to have breakfast there the next morning. The menu had lots of yummy options, my husband ended up getting the strawberry stuffed french toast, I don't remember what I got but I remember liking it. We came back like a week later just to get the french toast (I've never liked french toast but this was worth it). Now this morning, a little over a year later, we're trying to figure out where we would like to go for breakfast and my husband brings up this place. Naturally I'm very excited because this place holds such a fond memory for us. We come in and get seated and are handed a very limited menu and to my immense disappointment: no stuffed french toast... So I settle for the buffet. The eggs were so old the tops had dried out and turned a dark yellow and the bottom was stuck to the chafing dish. The bacon was floppy and rubbery (I know some people like it this way but most people like crispy bacon). The next dish had the potatoes (home fries). They were an odd texture, they were hard and weirdly chewy. I am fully convinced they were left over from pervious days and simply reheated. Lastly was the waffles, and the few that remained when I got there were either extremely hard or soggy from the condensation. I couldn't eat it so I paid extra to order a meal off the menu and got the ham and cheese omelet, which was fine, but it came with home fries. I was hopeful they'd be better fresh, but lo and behold they were the same left over potatoes. I also ordered a side of sausage links which were so tough they were inedible. The best thing I ate this morning was the toast. Needless to say, we won't be returning.
Part of me wishes we had never returned so the fondness we had for this place had never...
Read moreView was lovely. The restaurant expeience unfortunately soured us on the idea of staying at the hotel which we were contemplating. Not a problem that we had a 10 minute wait to be seated, but 10 minutes before any hostess appeared was awkward. Once seated we waited 30 minutes before flagging down a waitress to see when we might be able have someone attend us. She said the hostess never told her anyone was waiting. So our orders were taken and then we were brought some water. Our meal came and the waitress asked where my wine was...which I said I hadn't received it yet. She walked away and we had to ask for utensils to eat....another wait... wine showed up. We got a few bites in and realized we still hadn't got our starter salad and spent the duration of the meal trying to get the waitresses attention. Finally once we were done eating I asked weren't we supposed to get salads? She went to the kitchen and said someone had started making them but then stopped and left them there. So we got to eat our starter while trying to get the bill. We totally understand everywhere is short staffed but nothing went right and perhaps more time could be spent on the actual job than socializing at each table for 5-7 minutes. I think we'll stay and eat...
