Apple bruschetta drowned in honey, just a drizzle would have been better, garnish of lettuce not needed and didn't add any flavor. Ordered salad and asked if I could add a protein. Was told I could, so I asked for salmon, received a lightning response that they never add salmon to a salad, never. So then I asked for shrimp. After placing order we waited 30 minutes for appetizer to arrive and another 30 minutes later my salad arrived, again overdressed (salad was sitting in quite a bit of liquid), with 4 medium grilled shrimp. When the bill arrived one appetizer and 2 salads with only water to drink came to $78. I then realized that the 4 medium shrimp cost $16 and my salad was $15. When I questioned it with the wait staff I was curious why 4 medium shrimp cost more than my entire salad. I was told that was the cost. They didn't have items you can add so they gave me the shrimp a la cart price. So I asked if when a diner comes in and orders the shrimp from the a la cart menu are they only given 4 medium size shrimp? Yes, I was told. My poor waitress was at a loss to understand my discontent and had to refer me to another waitress, who looked right at me and then turned away and listed the laundry list of things she was in the middle of and she couldn't speak to me. Then they were going to get someone from the kitchen. By this time, I had been there almost 2 hours for this salad and water and told them I couldn't stay any longer. They were obviously very short-staffed and not able to meet all the needs of their patrons. My intent was to just even get some level of understanding or empathy from the staff that they would try to do better for patrons in the future. By being more transparent and informative with the guest in front of them who is unfamiliar with their menu, especially those visiting the restaurant for the first time. Even a little empathy would have been a welcome relief to know I had at least been heard with my concern. Mind you all of this was taking place after I had paid my bill and was not looking or seeking a refund. Simply said I will not be frequenting the restaurant in the future and hope this review will reach someone's ears. All I simply ask is please do better. I struggled to give more of a tip even though I had a strong desire to help out the kind waitress who who took care of us because of the expense of the bill, it short-changed what I could have given in a larger tip to...
Read moreWe recently dined here for my husband’s birthday, and while the ambiance was inviting and the staff friendly, our experience was overshadowed by an excessively long wait for our food. We waited over 40 minutes; which had us considering leaving early due to prior commitments. We were a very small party of two with a baby. So there shouldn’t have been a dramatic wait time.
When we were seated there were two other tables occupied. Awhile after more guests arrived and to our surprise they all got their food sooner than us.
When our food finally arrived, it was underwhelming. My husband’s dish featured cold mushrooms and was excessively salty and fatty. My salmon was overcooked and wrapped in bacon, which I hadn’t expected. Thankfully, I have no allergies, but the lack of clarity could have been problematic. The dish also lacked pecans, as I could barely taste them.
On a positive note, the dining room was clean, and one staff member was diligent about clearing and resetting tables, which I appreciated.
The service itself was decent; the staff was nice and welcoming, but there was a noticeable lack of urgency regarding our wait time. Despite the delay, no one checked in to inform us of the delay or offer an explanation. Just once saying “sorry it’s taking so long”. This left us feeling overlooked, which detracted from the...
Read moreStopped by on Friday May 17th for a bite to eat while in Alex Bay for the evening. Marlee, the hostess, was extremely helpful and directed me to the bar where I looked over their extensive and eclectic menu. I chose a draft beer from Township 7 brewing, a somewhat local upstate NY brewery I'd heard of before. The beer was slightly fruity and refreshing with a hint of hops. For food, I was intrigued by the Calamari Schnitzel panini sandwich. After only a few minutes after placing my order, my food arrived! The bread was warm and soft with the perfect toast, and the lemon aioli brought a bright freshness to the simultaneously crispy and tender calamari steak. I was not disappointed and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fried seafood or has an adventurous palate. I also ordered the Duck Nachos to go. They were delicious, but I would have liked a few more of the home made chips that based the dish, because they were absolutely divine. Also, they had some very nice live acoustic guitar which set the perfect relaxed mood! ...
