This place is a MUST stop. A-bay will ways be a hot stop for me and my mom friends as it's our "mom-stay-away" destination for 10+ years. We have our planned "go-tos" but this year that unexpectedly changed. Our usual place was oddly closed so we figured we'd give 1864 a try and we were impressed. They were more than happy to accommodate our large-ish party last minute! We had to wait 15 minutes due to a previous rush (good sign?), totally understandable, but they didn't miss a beat our entire time there - and we were there a hot minute, never to feel rushed! The tomahawk ribeye... Dare I say divine?! Umm ya, it was DIVINE! AND fesh salad to top it🤤🤤🤤🤤 And I have to share I'm a french fry snob and when contemplating writing a review I saw a review about flaccid fries (made me laugh first off) and knew I had to set the record straight... well I asked for mine well done and they did not disappoint! Crispy as a cruncher! I've seen reviews for this bomb-shell being over priced, but let's face it, you get what you pay for! We were by no means disappointed! This is our new "meeting place" on our way to our moms weekend! Live band was bonus! My moves, not so much 😅... Try 1864, they won't...

This river has 1864 islands, hence the name 1000 Islands and name of this delightful eatery. We were here on a quiet Sunday evening where our wonderful waitress catered to our needs in perfection. We began with a couple of cocktails and the hit was this hot cider cocktail including cinnamon and nutmeg along with fresh apple and orange slices suspended in hot cider mixed with vodka in our case ( original was made with apple whiskey). We continued with some absolutely fresh New England clam chowder, the kind where vegetables still have a lot of crunch and clams are soft and chewy; surely one of the best and not too heavy at all. We continued with a steak salad (not pictured) with crisp romaine, superb blue cheese and well seasoned steak strips. Trying the maple balsamic dressing was simply an unexpected flavor bonus. Finally we had the butter pecan cake which tasted fresh and very much homemade. We are passing through these parts to see the fall colors, but would come back in a heart beat. Highly recommended to all travelers and others...
Read moreNot sure why Belinda would say 20 mins is not a long time to wait for Clam Chowder. First off the patio was completely empty we were the only ones there,, So she saw/heard nothing. It was more like 40 mins that we waited for the waitress ( not sure of name but glasses/ hair up in 2 pony tails on top of her head } just to come out but NOT with our meals but to let us know that the "SOUP OF THE DAY" had to be made ,, why would you not come over right away and let us know, I would have picked something different from the menu. Also when we said we would just leave and asked her to bring us our bill she replied OKAYYYYY and rolled her eyes.. ( that's professionalism? ) Then we waited another 10 mins for the bill. She comes out holding the 2 plates of food and asked us if we wanted it to go? Really? We are travelling and visiting not going to carry clam chowder around or put it in the car! Anyways good luck I am sure we are not the only ones that have had to have an extended wait time.
Oh and Belinda we didn't loose out we gained , had an amazing bowl of Clam Chowder just up the street at Riverboat and amazing service!! Go there you won't have a wait time and...
