I moved to Mahopac in 2013, I live practically around the corner from the Diner, so as a convenience stand point I order the food occasionally. Every time I ordered food or sat down in the Diner the food was terrible period. I'm not even exaggerating, I mean Diner food on a whole is what we all expect and find to be pretty consistent and comparable to other Diners. But this place was sad to say terrible. Flavorless food, sides that looked like they have been recycled from other tables I mean just a plain horrific experience. I say to my self every time I consume their food " I'll never go back " , but because of the fact their literally right down the road I keep wanting to find a reason to like this place. So my last straw happened today, I ordered a simple scrambled egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a roll. Now mind you I did NOT order coffee with it or any added meat / bacon to the sandwich nor was it a platter breakfast that comes with home fries or anything, just a simple roll with egg and cheese on it.... They charged me $7.03 for a simple egg and cheese on a roll. Now I did not see any sprinkling of Gold Dust on the sandwich ... nor did I find a hidden gem in the bread... I mean the Balls to over charge in some cases double of other Diners is outrageous to me. I questioned the waitress saying " Really ? I gave you $10. and your giving me back $2. and change ?? for a egg and cheese sandwich ?? " She replied " would you like to speak to the owner ? " I was like nah .. I just wont be back Ever Again ... AND I left a tip on top of that. Listen i'm a utility worker and often buy breakfast and lunch on the go as I work through an area, I have no affiliation or relatives in the food buisness. I am a regular Real consumer who has lived my whole life in NYC and now live in the Mahopac suburbs. Do your self a favor , when you drive by this Diner you might see sometimes that the place is packed, but that doesn't mean the food is good or worth the money, my recommendation would be drive 5 more minutes down rt 6 to the Mohegan Diner or take a trip to the YorkTown Diner. Both way better food, value and cleanliness. All three reasons to skip Olympic Diner. *Edit I did read the reviews of others posts about this place and you can see consistently the same type of negative reviews, especially about pricing, but the ones that are giving 5 stars or rave reviews apparently are friends and family ? People from out of state who have no idea what it means to eat in a "good" restaurant or could be random computer generated...

Went here at 11:00pm or so a few nights ago. The manger came over to take our order and was very rude off the bat telling my sister and I what my sister could and couldn’t get. The food took a while to come out and it was absolutely disgusting. The chicken tenders were very obviously microwaved and barely hot, the mac n cheese was watery and inedible. Not to mention there was hair in my friends parfet. We tried to get the attention of one of their staff members who were at the table next to us and he completely ignored us. We were so done at this point so we just asked for the check. At checkout we mentioned the hair in the food since no one would acknowledge us while we were sitting down at the table. The server then told us that we were lying and she could’nt belive us because a lot of people lie. She also said that we should have told her about the hair when we found it. Her manager came over and told us we were liars as well. She then started counting cash out loud in front of us ignoring us mid conversation. Then we went and got the hair that we found in the parfet and brought it to them and they proceeded to tell us that we just plucked our own hair and brought it to them when neither of us had black hair. When we told the manager that we tried to get the attention of one of their staff members she proceeded to tell us that he was a bus boy and it’s not his job to speak with customers. Overall she made us pay the full bill for the food we couldn’t even eat because it was contaminated, and she was beyond rude and snarky towards my sister and I. She then took our receipt from us which we had to go back and ask for. Overall this place has disgusting food that you can barely cut through or chew, and their customer service is unexplainably awful. Not to mention they are clearly violating DOH...

I've been a patron over the past 30 yrs. Definitely the family diner feeling, an opportunity to escape from cooking for the night. The food had always been good, n plenty, maybe a doggie bag. However, over the years, they've been missing the mark. It felt like a rollercoaster, but never knowing how yr next experience would be. One thing was constant and that was that, the staff worked very very hard, n were quite attentive.

Right before COVID, however, I had gone there and the food was so bad, I couldn't even eat it. Now that's really bad if I couldn't force feed myself no matter the seasoning I put on. What made it even worse was, the fact that I was "treating myself," to a pricey dinner I always enjoy.

Then came COVID, so difficult for all restaurants, they were hit too. Sadly however, alllll of their regular staff NO LONGER WORKED THERE, NOT ONE!! Management hired whoever's they cud but, the cook/s was terrible. Like, how do you mess up home fries? Still, I gave them my business during and after. They may've come through the storm but, not for the better unfortunately. I hope they'll eventually get better cooks, n steady workers.

I just don't see myself going there as I had in the past. I wish them...

The portions are typically large for a diner. But that's about all that is good about the food. It's totally bland. We had a bowl of chilly, a deluxe burger, and Vacation panini sandwich. Nothing impressive. The best part was their cole slaw, pickles and fresh fries. Just to be clear - I'm not a fan of french fries, but it was better than the sandwich. Their menu is really extensive as often happens in diners. But the prices are higher than your average diner, you'd totally get better food at a restaurant for the same cost. And keep in mind that they charge 3% surcharge if you are paying not in cash. I believe it's exorbitant :( I guess it is totally justified that they are mostly empty all the time.

Love the 24 hours. Menu is colossal, even for a diner. I’d rather see a smaller menu so each dish, especially the staples, can get more care. Tuna salad was gamey. Baklava oversized mush. Fries were on point. The dinner specials looked generous and enticing. Good service. Overall I’m happy this place is there and wish them all the best. Edit: the panini I had when I went back has me wanting to add another star. Let’s see how it goes next time

I went there for an impromptu late lunch. Seated with alacrity, the service was friendly and welcoming throughout. The ambiance was nice for a diner: quality jazz and well maintained decor. There's definitely a Greek vibe. I went with the moussaka which came with soup, ice cream and coffee. I took home the chicken stuffed with lobster, steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. Everything was tasty and the portions are huge.
