I am truly disappointed that I spent my hard earned money on this hotel and that I had my family stay here. We were in the area for a family reunion and wanted something at a reasonable price. With the Wyndham name and the photos I saw, this seemed like a good option. It was not. When we first checked in we were given a hanicapped accessible room although we didn’t need it, which seemed unfair to anyone who would need that room. We asked to switch and were moved to a standard room without any problems. That was the best part of the stay, and went downhill from there. The room was really quite gross and we honestly should have just looked elsewhere for a hotel but it was 9:00 at that time and our 4 year old was exhausted so we made ourselves “at home”. The floors were absolutely disgusting and look like they haven’t properly been cleaned in years. We mostly wore our shoes in the room and didn’t even want our daughter sitting on the floor. The AC was inconsistent and uncomfortable. Maybe it was the weather, but I’ve never had issues staying in the Rochester area before at other hotels. One night it was so hot even with the air on that none of us could sleep. The next night is was cold but absolutely horrifically moist/humid to the point of feeling wet in the room. The other nights the AC was fine but 3/5 isn’t great in my opinion. The WORST part is that when we got to our room for our last night, I noticed our room hadn’t been cleaned that day even though we didn’t leave the do not disturb sign in. The trash was full, crumbs were not vacummed, nothing was cleaned. The only thing they did was give us new towels. I went and asked why our room hadn’t been cleaned and the receptionist told me that they are understaffed and overbooked. I understand that it is hard to find help, but your paying guests shouldn’t suffer for that. I was told that checkouts were prioritized and overnight guests rooms were cleaned in those situations. So we had a dirty room, and call me crazy but part of the joy of staying in a hotel is having housekeeping. I feel so bad I made my husband and daughter stay in this room. It felt gross the whole time and I am thoroughly disappointed. There are also absolutely not enough outlets for modern day technology users, or counter space. I would absolutely never recommend it to anyone unless truly desperate. I left New York with a nasty cold that could be from mold allergies and I wouldn’t be shocked if this room had something to do with it. The only redeeming quality was the front desk girl who was very sweet and it isn’t her fault my room was disgusting. I wish I had gotten pictures of the floor but we didn’t spend much time in there (can’t imagine why) other...

What a difference 1 year makes and not in a good way....
Visit September of 2025. The tub was so clogged with hair and gunk it wouldn't drain and the toilet was broken. Called about both on the 1st night and was told by whoever answered that they would tell the next person in. Never got fixed. Ended up using a stir stick from the coffee supplies to poke holes in the gunk so I could shower. The toilet just ended up running... a lot. The AC hasn't been cleaned in years from the look and musty smell. And made some pretty loud noises the few times it did kick on. The breakfast area is pretty nasty and only offers VERY limited tired looking breads and the standard make your own waffle option. One catch though the waffle iron is broken. Some basic Yogurts, hard boiled eggs that dont look like they've been rotated since my last visit (1 year ago) Some several days old pre packaged egg "like" omelets in the fridge. So the free breakfast is a hard no. The elevator can best be described as "use at your own risk". All the doors slam shut for every room and the walls on the 2nd floor are paper thin. Don't expect a quite night sleep. Spent 1 week there (never again) and it was obnoxiously loud every night. The employees this time where less than aware that guests where staying at the motel (definitely should not be considered a hotel). Very loud in the hallways most mornings. They did sound like they where having fun at least. Completely ignored folks walking in and out. Not entirely sure everyone walking in was a guest...
Someone was getting trained and ill be shocked of they hadn't quit by the time this is posted. Won't go into details, but pretty obvious there is no formal training anymore, which explains some of the other issues.
A sad change from my first 2 visits. Absolutely would not recommend and wont be back.
*VERY OUTDATED REVIEW * Leaving the original one as a point of reference for how quickly this place turned into a 1 star (and thats being VERY generous).
A nice surprise. Lists as a 1-2 star hotel, but definitely in the 3 star range due to the staff, quietness, and location. The rooms are tiny but clean. The free breakfast is really the only downside. Not very fresh, very limited options compared to similar hotels.
If you are looking for a very inexpensive hotel with a great staff this is the place.
Plenty of options in the area for eating out. Just stay away from the coffee and breakfast and you will be...
Read moreOverall my short stay at the Microtel was mediocre.
Pros - everything was very clean, the room, bathroom, sheets, towels, the lobby, eating areas, and hallways. Staff was helpful and courteous..
Cons - parking lot and sidewalks were icy and very slippery. I slipped several times and almost went down and tweaked my back. I inquired with the staff on duty and they had slipped and almost fallen as well when they arrived for their shift. I was advised that the engineer was gone for the day and current staff didn't have the capabilities to spread ice melt. I had arrived mid evening, after 7 PM. Location - the hotel is located behind a bank next to a shopping plaza and difficult to find. There are limited signs - this may be a local zoning restriction as the general area had very limited signs and most businesses were set back. Room was efficient and comfortable with three exceptions. 1st, the room wall was right up against the lounge and the lounge TV was on that wall - the staff turned it down at my request, but later it went up and was disturbing in the night - shift change perhaps? 2nd, all that was on the bed were sheets and an extremely thin, lightweight spread. No blankets of any kind. Nothing in the closets either. I had to turn the heat up more than what usually would be comfortable to stay warm for the night. I have never experienced no blankets before and have stayed at Wyndham and Microtel locations before. 3rd - no hot water in the shower. I turned the shower on and waited and waited and it was cold. I switched to the tub spigot and finally got warm water. I waited a few minutes and it just stayed warm. The shower ended up being cool to lukewarm and was not a pleasant experience. Free breakfast - mixed reviews on this. Previous Microtel stays were much better except for the coffee which was about the same. Biggest complaints were the fruit - green and hard bananas, and very tired oranges, AND hot food. Other location had hot food - this one only a pancake machine and a microwave to heat up a frozen Jimmy dean breakfast sandwich - and mine had sour sausage in it and had to be tossed. Business center - the website claims there is one available, but when asked, I was told there was a single computer in the lounge area that didn't really work and there was no printer or any way to print (not good being by the airport). Would i stay again at this location - maybe, but I would look...
