My initial stay was an emergency needing a place right away as I came in town for business, and things changed with the client, so I had to make other arrangements. The place is decent, quiet, large rooms, and staff are very professional and helpful. Noticed quite an active police presence multiple times a day, checking on things and making sure everyone is safe. Guess there have been incidents that made the motel risky, but thankfully, the frequency and efforts of the local police department kept things quiet and safe while I was there. I've never seen housekeeping staff work as hard and ongoing as I've seen here, even in snow and rain, they can be seen going to and from rooms to do their work. When I asked for my room to be cleaned, they didn't hesitate or had any attitude, they just did and did it well.
My first major issue is that the Wi-Fi the motel offers is very unstable and signal very weak. I had five to eight virtual meetings a day, and the signal was so bad I kept dropping off meetings in the middle of my presentations. When I asked the person at the front desk.they said there isn't anything they could do about it, so I just have to deal with it. I ended up going to other places to participate in meetings and events and use my cellular data services as a Hotspot, which ate up my monthly bandwidth quota in a week. If the motel want to attract business customers who depend on reliable technology, they should upgrade their tech to ensure the latest standards like Wi-Fi 6/7 and a mesh network system to spread good quality signal throughout the rooms. It's not hard or expensive and would enhance the features and appeal of the motel for business customers.
My second major issue was with my room. The AC/heating system is very old, and filters haven't been cleaned for a very long time (to the point the filter was so rotten it broke when maintenance guy tried to take it out), so I kept feeling sick, sneezing with itchy eyes, nose, and throat, so, I went to Walmart and got swiffer products to clean and dust the room, and as I'm cleaning it got very dusty all over, which is how I found out it was the AC/heater system blowing tons of dust out. It's freezing cold, so I need the heat, but the dust was killing me. I took the swiffer dust pad to the person at the front desk and shower them the amount of dust buildup from the unit, and he sent maintenance to clean it. Maintenance came, and when he saw the amonut of dust, he did not have a vacuum, so it couldn't be cleaned properly. So, I had to clean and dust it enough to breathe safely. I suggest management do a proper inspection of the old units to replace filters and clean them properly so dust doesn't make people irritated and sick.
I hope management review these customer reviews and take them into consideration to improve the qualities of the motel and attract more business customers. That's why I gave three stars for the room and four for service. My ratings are not about housekeeping, just tech and...
Read moreAt check in the clerk couldn't find our reservation and was very snippy about it. Also the place looks nothing like their online pictures. While we were checking in someone called the front desk asking for the number for the local police, so that was a red flag. Luckily (or not so luckily as it turned out) I had a printed confirmation. When we went to the room, there were a few really skeevy characters hanging around outside. The room was very dated and none to clean. Also there was no chain for the door inside, but it wasn't terrible. I ended up propping up a chair against the door so it couldn't be opened from the outside, that's how little faith I had in this place. The stay itself was unremarkable. Again, not the nicest place, but it seemed doable. HOWEVER.. a couple of weeks after our stay we noticed little bugs in our bedroom. We live in the country so we didn't really think much about it at first. I started getting itchy spots on my legs, went to the Doctor and she said they looked like bites. . Then we realized it was bed bugs. You read that right, BED BUGS. My home is spotless so we really couldn't understand where we could have gotten them. The pest control guy said that they had probably been there about a month from the looks of things, that's when I realized we had stayed at the Golden Circle. I immediately called them, really just to let them know, not looking for anything. The woman who answered the phone IMMEDIATLY denied it was their hotel, got very defensive and so on. She kept trying to rush me off the phone. I asked for the manager, she said the manager would have to call me back, although she seemed unsure if she was in or not (Seemed like a stall tactic to me). When I asked for the managers name she said it was Susan but when I asked for her last name she said "I don't know it". You don't know the name of the person you work for?? She could have said a million things, like they weren't allowed to give out names, but that's what she chose to go with. When the manager called me back, she was pretty much the same, denial, denial, denial. She did say she would have the room inspected and send me the report, but she really didn't want to talk to me at all. The SUPER helpful customer service person that I talked to at Booking.Com called her as well, and he said he gave her the option to call me, but that she didn't want to and would just send me the report. he also told me that she wasn't the manager, she was the owner. So some shady stuff is going on there. In a nutshell, Booking.Com is great, the Golden Circle Hotel is a...
Read moreDrove in from Florida and arrived into Troy to check-in. My original hotel has oversold and I didnt have a room. 2:00AM in the morning, exhausted, I found this place as backup. Since I only needed til 1100, I paid the $75/night, giot my key and proceeded to room. ||||1. Put key card in door in room #26. Hear other guy inside of room 'who is it". Nice! Not looking to shoot at 2:00AM in the morning. Walked back to desk, got another key. Proceeded to room #27. ||||2. Room was NOT fit enough for a roach! Nasty, gross, dirty - just disgusting! Wall unit AC was cold and loud. Turned it off. Woke up to critters or birds nest - not sure which, gnawing and scratching at it. Not very comforting. I slept in my clothes and sneakers. ||||3. Bathroom looks like something out of a CSI show. Dirty/stained shower, open window - anyone can look in. No outlet in the bathroom. Had to blow-dry hair using the one outlet I can find, near the radiator. Plugs kept popping out. Had to hold blow-dryer plugin the wall with my foot to finish or else it would just keep popping out. ||||4. I left a few trial size Victoria Secrets perfume, wrapped in a washcloth I brought from home so they wouldn't break. Know EXACTLY where and how I left them. Called to see if housekeeping brought to the desk (the proper thing to do) and was told no one turned in anything. I went from this HORRIBLE hotel to the current hotel I'm staying at, so I know they were accidentally left behind. Housekeeping stole OR threw away my perfume. But I am going with stolen. They can deny all they want, but I still don't have my perfume 3 days later.||||Nasty, nasty, nasty dump. If that's your thing - then this is most definitely the place for you. If you're seeking a REAL hotel, try the Hilton Garden on Hoosick Street. It's fantastic and I'm very happy here - and they also made up the inconvenience of not having a room that night. When I told the Manager of Hilton Garden where I stayed Friday, he comp'ed me an additional day - haha. Even have a lost & found section. The way a hotel should be run!||||PS: 1 star rating is...
