This place is decent if you're looking for something fast, healthy, and inexpensive with a nice area to sit down. I wouldn't call it excellent though, and there might be better options in the area.
I had a gyro bowl, fries and hummus. The gyro meat was dry, with some parts reminding me of beef jerky. The vegetables were all very nice and fresh. The fries, I must say, were perfectly crispy. The hummus was ok with some nice EVOO on it. I liked the garlic sauce and the tahini toppings. Watch out for the hot sauce - it has a sneaky burn that you'll feel in your stomach more than your mouth.
Weird incident with the tap water: it tasted... spicy. The manager tried it when I pointed it out and said it tasted fine. What can you do at that point? 🤷 Fyi, I tried it before I ate anything. For the most part staff were friendly and accommodating.
You order your food at the counter and pick it up there. The dining area is bright, clean and spacious. Overall it was an acceptable experience but the dry gyro and weird water kind of kept it from being exceptional.
Reply to the owner: The request I made "outside the menu" was to have a bowl made with a cucumber salad base instead of rice. The cucumber salad is an available topping for the DIY bowl, so I'm not sure how special this is. The beef gyro is a regular item and was sub par. It wasn't so bad that I was unable to eat it, and it did absorb a little moisture from the salad. Still, this meal was overall in "average" territory. I write honest reviews to help fellow travelers; saying this meal was 4 or more stars would be dishonest. 3 stars isn't bad. Maybe address the issues I mentioned and my review will become a distant memory, obscured by all the perfect...
Read moreWent here for the first time, and while the food was good, the customer service was really bad. The person serving us was very rude. We were three people, and when we asked for plates, he only gave us one plate for all three. For the sauce, he gave just one green sauce, and when we asked for another, he said we had to pay $1.50. We agreed because we didn’t want to cause a scene, but honestly, if you’ve ever had Afghani food, you know it only tastes good with plenty of sauce. I would not recommend this place to anyone because of their customer service. This is the first restaurant I’ve ever been to that was so cheap with sauce—especially when dining in. On top of that, when we got there, another family of four was eating, and when they left, they didn’t pick up their leftovers, yet the employees said nothing to them. But when we were about to leave, the server told us to clean up after ourselves. We also found a hair in the food. My sister wanted to bring it up, but we decided not to, since we felt they would accuse us of lying. We just wanted to get out of there. Overall, it was a very uncomfortable environment, and I will not...
Read moreI recently visited Zaffron Kitchen in Loudonville and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was the highlight — every dish was bursting with flavor and freshness. The hummus was silky and perfectly seasoned, the Steak and Chicken Kebabs were tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The Shrimp Bowl was delicious with just the right amount of heat. The spices were well-balanced, giving each bite a rich depth without being overpowering.
Service was excellent as well — the staff was welcoming, attentive, and happy to explain the menu and recommend dishes. I especially appreciated how quickly the food arrived and how everything was presented with care.
Whether you’re looking for a casual meal with friends or a special night out, Zaffron Kitchen is a gem. I’ll definitely be returning to try more of the menu — the Lamb Chops are calling my name!
Zaffron Kitchen definitely need a spotlight on 'Diners, Drive-In & Dives' !! If you haven't stopped in - you don't know what you are missing. We will definitely be back! Thank...
