I think some of the reviews are ludicrous. I probably would've graded a 4, but am going with 5 to balance some of the dumb reviews people leave on this campground. Just stayed for 5 nights - arriving on Wednesday when the campground was almost empty (saw two other tent sites) - and left on Memorial Day. Friday, Saturday and Sunday were mobbed - and was what I expected for a Lake George Campground - busy with a lot of partiers. I wasn't one of the partying crew - setup with a couple friends and then my 2 young children and wife for the weekend. Staff was helpful and friendly. The Campgrounds were full of leaves the first night, but they came with leave blowers and rakes the second day - we did get there early and camp season just started. Bathrooms were fine - the mold review was quite amusing, as I didn't see anything out of the ordinary for a state run camp facility. The showers were actually cleaner and better run then some of the other sites I've been to. The maintenance crew worked hard all weekend - you gotta remember, there are over 200 camp sites, and not all the residence know how to act like adults. I saw underwear and soiled shorts left in one of the toilets - it was cleaned by the next day. Overall, we had a great trip and most of our neighbors were respectful, and the camp was quiet by around 10:30. DEC was on hand for Saturday and I saw regular patrols. They seemed to try and strike a balance from not being overbearing and not letting things get out of hand. You can't make everyone happy. We don't drink alcohol or do drugs - but we live and let live. Loved our site, and the location for was excellent - right outside of the village and only a few exits to the Great Escape for the kids. - I just wanted to add one more thing - a lot of complaints about the fire pits. A lot of the sites are undergoing restoration and have brand new fire pits - while others still have the old ones. Ours was and old one, and while it definitely could use restoration work, it was serviceable for our needs. I bring a camp kitchen (griddle and grill) - but we used the fire pit for cooking baked potatoes and corn (cooked in the husk). Worked like a charm and we had a nice fire every night there. I seriously think some of the reviewers should just stay home or get a hotel room for now on. There is nothing that wrong with this campground.

Not a family friendly environment, more of a party scene. I wouldn’t recommend this campground for families with small children. Disappointed in the mess that was left at our campsite, my toddler had a field day finding water bottle caps, braces rubber bands and pennies on the ground all weekend. It is concerning that at an Adirondack campground (where bears live in the area) there is apparently no rules on leaving food out overnight. Lots of vehicles speeding thru the campground at all hours of the day and night with no regard to kids camping. Lakeside campsite are oddly set up, little to no privacy. Our fireplace overlooked our neighbors site, it was awkward and didn’t make sense why the fire pit wasn’t at the back of the site…? I refused to drink the water that I had to essentially walk thru somebodies campsite to get because the spigot is awkwardly placed due to the floaty bugs that ended up in my bottle (see picture) The swimming beach is closed for the 2021 season although no one is enforcing that, so I guess it’s swim at your own risk? Plenty of people were in the water when we were there despite a pretty heavy current. Overall, not terrible if you are seeking a place to pass out in a tent drunk but not a great family friendly environment otherwise.

This was our first time at Hearthstone Point. It was nice, slightly smaller then we had imagined however not in a bad way. The bathrooms were somewhat clean. I cant say a bad things about that as it was raining and its a campground, the staff did the best they could. The sites are good size and great for us as we group camp. We went with multiple families and got a row of sites. If you want privacy I recommend really looking at the site map first. For us it was great as there was no wooded separation between our sites so we could move freely from one to the other which was great for the kids and adults. The showers are hot, which was nice. The beach is a very awkward layout but nice. We had a ton of scuba divers on site which made it difficult to just swim around but the kids made due and the divers got their training so win/win. Parking lot fills fast if you drive, so get their early. If you are boating there is no launch and its not very boat friendly parking, but you can make due. Despite the rain we had a blast. One last recommendation pre check in is your friend. The line to get into the campground backs up fast on the weekend. Pre Check In helps get you right in and to your site.

My family and I have been going to Hearthstone point for years now and have always loved it until this year. The campground is clean, with very tight camping spots, a small bathing area/beach, and with hot showers and fulling functioning bathrooms. Since the sites are so small, you will hear a sneeze in the site next to you. Having said that, quiet time starts at 10pm sharp. We have never really had a problem with it- maybe here and there a ranger has come by to say kindly keep it down which of course was never a problem. This year, we got carried away with a game of beer pong so the cheering got a bit louder than we hoped. At 10:20pm, the ranger "Stephen" came by to which we immediately quieted down and apologized. We are a group in our mid-late thirties so it was not like we we intoxicated and belligerent. The Ranger Stephen began scolding us as if we were his children, forbid anyone to SPEAK or apologize, and ordered us to our tents to sleep. I was taking this lightly until one girl perked up and said we're really sorry we lost track of time to which he yelled- "I DON"T F*&$$NG CARE!" Listen, I understand we were being a little loud; however, we were not breaking anything, we weren't being rude (other than being a little loud), we were celebrating a birthday, it was 20 minutes past 10pm, and it could have been handled in a much more mature, respectful manner. Ranger Stephen looked to be about 60-70 years old and we were all adults. NO ONE should speaking to us that way. I am a paying customer and a faithful one at that up until this year. Other friends of ours also had a similar altercation with Ranger Stephen when they pulled up in their car into the site with 2 other campers from another site in their car. He again spoke extremely disrespectful to one of the ladies in the car. In both of these situations Ranger Stephen was interrupted by the husbands because he was being very rude to their wives to which he became even louder. After 2 days of reviewing this experience in my head, I was still shocked of how we were spoken to. I went to the office to make a formal complaint. We were told that they receive many complaints about Stephen and there was probably nothing to be done. I still asked for his supervisor. I spoke to the groundskeeper, Cherie, who let us know from the log that he reported we were being loud and playing beer pong. I don't know why beer pong had anything to do with the complaint. I didn't think that was forbidden. Cherie listened to our story and responded with "well, you've been here before so you should know the rules [of the 10pm quite time]"" Cherie said she would "talk to [Stephen] about it." That is all we got. I expected an apology or even a shocked face form Cherie from our story of the way he spoke to us. Nothing. I don't know how businesses stay open with this sense of entitlement and horrible, unprofessional customer interaction. Perhaps the campground should designate quiet areas for those who want a silent vacation? Regardless, they really need to learn how to treat people. I ended up leaving a day early just because I was so disgusted of how I was spoken to and how it did not seem to bother the grounds keeper one bit. If one of my employees were to speak to one of my customers that way they would be immediately terminated. That is how you run a business. There would be no pardon for their age or excuse for that behavior, especially toward the women. I was raised to speak to all people- young, old, black, white, male and female- with respect in all situations. I was horribly disappointed with Hearthstone Point this year and I will be sure to share my experience and the lack of concern in the deplorable behavior of...

The worst NYS campground we have been to. Our group hit up campgrounds all over NYS and we typically do not have any issues but this one was bad. The campground is "conveniently" located in between two main highways, make sure your dogs don't get loose or your children for that matter as there are two 55MPH highways surrounding the campground. The road noise is unbearable, one of the main points of a campground (serenity) are immediately by default removed from the ambience.

We attempted to check in and we waited over an hour for someone to come to the check in desk. We were greeted by two frustrated, overwhelmed, and seemingly confused workers who were trying to check us in. I think they were also working as the campground maintenance.

The upkeep of this park is the worst I have ever seen. The bathrooms are disgusting, the toilets leak, they look to be out of a horror movie, the windows into the bathrooms are huge and there is no privacy from the inside of the bathrooms or the outside. Some campsites can look directly into the bathrooms and see people on the toilet. This is not an exaggeration. The insides of the bathrooms have stall walls that are about 4' tall. If you walk into the bathroom, you can see the tops of peoples head who are sitting on the toilets.

The campsites are FILTHY, there is garbage all over the campsites. Mostly small pieces of every type of garbage, bits of plastic, bottle caps, fireworks, etc. The picnic tables are rotted with rusted nails and screws poking through. Our campsite had a crumbling fire pit and a steel fire ring that was packed nearly to the brim with wet ashes.

The other guests were incredibly loud and there are no staff to enforce the quiet hours. This park is inundated with illegal immigrants, 65% or more of the campsites were occupied by Ecuadorians. This campsite is directly north of NYC, a sanctuary city where refugees are granted a $2,100/month stipend and free reign. This is also not an exaggeration. It's not the people specifically, the primary issue is that they tend to ignore social customs from the locals and implement and prefer their own.

It looks like the refugees are using state parks in the vicinity of NYC as homeless encampments. Each refugee receives $2,100/month and there are groups of 5-10 at most camp sites and their setups look like a homeless encampment, not like tourists camping. They likely jump between camp sites and use different people to register their camps to avoid setting off any alarm.

I would not recommend this campground at all. It is not worth the money, it was like staying in a prison. Also, the roads are "1 way" but nothing is marked and multiple times we had to either reverse down a tiny, narrow, road or wait for someone else to do the same for us. The campsites are also extremely...

The campground itself was very nice. The staff at the front check in were inviting. The beach on the lake was very spacious. The showers and bathrooms weren’t bad. This place would have a lot of potential if it wasn’t for one thing and that is RANGER ED! how does he still have a job here after all the terrible reviews about him? I don’t know but I’m pretty sure he has some ties in order to still have a job. He was so rude to me and my family who rented out six campgrounds in total together in order to celebrate my sisters birthday without causing a disturbance to the other campers. As soon as I got there he approach multiple things and we complied. Our first night sitting around the campfire we were told to turn off our music which we did and after that ed and his partner kept returning. The next day my family went water rafting and when we came back one of our friends was approached by a Ranger Ed in a very threatening way. He told him if “we were ready to be out by that night” because if he gets one complain me and my whole family would get kicked out mind you this is the middle of the afternoon and we haven’t even started the night. This was the night of my sisters birthday and we had plans to decorate and have a little celebration but he ruined everybody’s mood by his threatening manner and we decided to not even celebrate my sisters birthday because we knew even if we were speaking we would be kicked out which was not an option in the middle of the night in a campground on Labor Day weekend. He single-handedly ruined my sister’s birthday and now we are going to celebrate the following weekend. He drove by our campground multiple times at night waiting to kick us out which was terrible because he was willing to kick out six campgrounds. When my sister talk to him his response was only “if you don’t like this camp ground, don’t stay here”. After buying 6 campground and spending our money, that’s your response? He basically made us feel so unwelcome and we will never return again! all the reviews are true about this place it has a lot of potential but if Ranger and is there I will avoid 100%. At the end of the day we all feel like we wasted money on six campgrounds I will not recommend this campground to my friends. There are many other private campgrounds in the area that I would be looking into for the future because I love the area but at this point state campgrounds are not it. Shame too, there a lot of potential here. I have been so many other campgrounds and never had any issues with noise or being talk to in a threatening manner! GET RANGER ED OUT OF THERE! every review...
