We had a pleasant two-night stay at Stone Gate Resort during the long weekend. We reserved a family suite (our family consisted of 2 adults and 4 kids), which consisted of a room with two queen beds connected to a single queen room. The rooms were clean, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The only downside was the vertical walk to and from the beach, as it involved some climbing. Fortunately, the golf cart service was available to transport us and the kids up and down when needed. The kids loved the ride. The beach itself was clean and well-maintained. We decided to pay for a boat experience, which delighted my son, who loves boats. The beach bathrooms were also notably clean and well-kept. Although we didn't rent kayaks, they were available for a reasonable price of $20. One of the highlights of our stay was the fire pits located outside the rooms. We purchased firewood from the deli, just a short distance from the reception, for $10. The deli had everything we needed to start a cozy fire to roast marshmallows. The resort offered various amenities such as a game room, exercise room, kids park, and on-site laundry facilities, although we didn't utilize any of them during our stay. It's important to note that there were quite a few rules to abide by while staying at the resort. The 10 pm quiet time was appreciated as it allowed our kids to sleep peacefully. There was a group setting off fireworks one night but they ceased just before 10 pm. However, the rules regarding extra cleaning procedures felt a bit excessive and took away from the overall enjoyment of our vacation. While the resort is not cheap, the quality of the rooms and the pleasant beach experience contributed to our positive stay. I deducted one star due to the numerous rules that somewhat dampened the vacation experience

We stayed three nights in cabin #14, two adults and two young kids. The cabin was great with two separate bedrooms, one for us and one for the kids. It had everything we needed and more. The outside fire pit and grill were nice, but we quickly realized that other cabins had a better setup with a flat ground fire pit and a grill and table collocated to the fire pit. Minor issues really, but we would request a different cabin next time. The service was really great. Loved the rides up from the beach. The location is also perfect. It is far enough from the craziness of town but not too far. It also has a great spot on the lake with a sandy beach, dock, and all sorts of water craft rental options. Also worth mentioning is the deli which is located right next to the resort. They have everything , including made to order sandwiches, subs, and a grill. Overall an amazing stay. I would recommend this place to any family looking for a great spot on lake George.

Had a wonderful weekend getaway at The Stone Gate. I traveled with my wife and 2 kids age (4 and 2) and could not have had a better experience. The rooms and grounds are spotless. Our group had 7 couples and too many kids to count we all had a wonderful stay. The owner and staff are helpful in every way. You are always greeted with a smile and if there’s anything they can do for you. The resort is kid friendly with a heated pool and a wonderful beach at Lake George. They have plenty of Adirondack chairs to accommodate guests. The shuttle golf carts are a great touch getting to the lake and somehow they were always there when you needed one. The location of the resort is excellent 5 min drive to town. The Stone gate exceeded all of my expectations for my first trip to Lake George I will definitely be returning. I can’t recommend this resort enough!

For the past 6 years, we have been going to Lake George every August and trying a different resort every time. This year, we tried Stone Gate Resort and it was probably our favorite yet! The place is almost perfect, but I'd like to offer some constructive criticism. In our cottage, the microwave was on top of the refrigerator and it was too high for my wife to reach and impossible for our kids. Even for me (5' 11") it was pretty hairy trying to get a bowl of hot soup out without making a mess. Also, while the dishes are a nice sturdy practical plastic, they are plainly marked that they are not microwave safe, and they got VERY hot if used (we had to use them because that's all there is!). This makes no sense at all. Also, the cottage needs some chairs. It has one just chair and one sofa, but that's not enough for a family of 5. We had to bring in the kitchen stools just to watch TV as a family and they are very uncomfortable for any length of time. Also, the cottage desperately needs lamps on the end tables. The overhead light is no good for reading, and my wife and oldest son are avid sudoku fans, and they couldn't see right to do that. The sconces are cute but they're no good for reading. That said, the light under the kitchen cupboard is brilliant, and the faucet is nicer than ours at home! The firepit outside is wonderful and we used it often. We liked the bench on the little porch and parking is close and abundant. The grounds are gorgeous and my kids loved the playground area. The beach is the best we've seen yet, although some chaise loungers would be nice. Most other places we've stayed have many chaises on their beaches, even though the beaches themselves are smaller and not nearly as nice. Also, and this is a big deal, everywhere else we ever stayed provided free rowboats, paddleboards and kayaks, but at Stone Gate Resort you have to pay extra to rent them. The place is not cheap at all, so to have to pay extra for those things left a very bad taste in our mouth. We spoke to a few other people who were staying there and they all agreed. The man who ran the concession was very friendly and helpful, especially with selecting the perfect life vest for all of us. The store on the property was very nice and everyone we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful. The pool is very attractive and clean. The golf carts to and from the beach were a nice touch and the drivers were always right there when you needed them. Most of the other families staying there seemed very nice and we liked meeting them and comparing notes on local activities and restaurants and such. All in all, the Stone Gate Resort was our best vacation yet, and with a few improvements it would be perfect. Someone told us that the owners are new, so maybe they're still learning and will get better as they grow into it. Overall, I definitely recommend it for families. It's a...

If you are someone who appreciates attention to detail and impeccable service this is the place!

We decided to stay here based on reviews we read about how amazing the staff is and the experiences here. Honestly, we didn’t really believe what we read, we thought it was too good to be true. We were pleasantly surprised!

From reservations to arrival we were treated like personal friends. Samantha and Adrienne took our reservations and worked with us through some changes. Assured we were next to our parents and they were on the first floor as my father needs to use a walker.

From the moment we arrived they couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. We were a large party of 14 people. They offered us a private terrace area to BBQ and assisted my father through an employee entrance because he couldn’t use the outdoor steps. We had two large grills and picnic tables to ourselves for the whole evening.

The walk to the lake area is one thing we were concerned about. However they have golf carts running up and down all day and we never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride. They even picked my father up at his room so he wouldn’t have to walk over to the pick up spot.

One of the young men, Ben, actually made sure my father was able to get to the rest room and was waiting for him to get out to help him walk back! I noticed this and ran right over. The compassion he showed to my father was appreciated more than he will ever know.

The staff, family are always visible, at the pool wiping chairs, testing the water, handing out ice pops and water on hot days. The resort is impeccably kept and the rooms were also very clean. There is always someone there if you need anything. Paul checked in with us multiple times during our stay. We brought our own paddle board and instead of hauling it back and forth they secured it for us at the lake. Small touches that just meant so much to us.

This is a wonderful family resort with a beautiful pool and private beach area. Playground, pickleball, basketball court, soccer, game room, fitness center, Cornhole, bocci court, laundry, grills to bbq, and multiple fire pits. We used all of it and the kids were thrilled!

Check out Heluva Deli next door. Food is great there, we ordered sandwiches for 14 people for dinner the first night and it was very reasonable. They also have beer, ice, groceries, breakfast, items you may need on vacation.

Our family had the best time and made amazing memories at The Stone Gate. We loved every moment and will be back!! Highly recommend to anyone traveling to...

My family (my parents, two children) and I recently had a wonderful stay here. On the first day, I was shocked to learn that the man who had dropped what he was doing on the beach to run over to us to drive us up the hill in a golf cart was the owner, Paul. This simple kindness represents their ethos, which is also reflected in their motto, “Arrive as a guest, depart as a friend, return as family.” Their ethos is also reflected by staff, who work hard and treat guests well. It’s reflected in the care with which the grounds are maintained.

As my children noted, you don’t ever have to leave the grounds to have a great vacation. There’s swimming in Lake George on a private beach, a heated pool, a game room, a playground, and a sports area. Next to the laundry facility ($2 per load for washer and same for dryer) there is a collection of puzzles and games to borrow. The fitness center is clean and has decent machines. The deli is great and has much of what you might need, from a pair of water shoes to band aids. Also, Stone Hill is very close to town, just a short drive. We enjoyed white water rafting on Lake Sacondaga and tubing on Lake George, in addition to a trip to Fort Ticonderoga and Prospect Mountain.

There are rules to follow, but they are clearly outlined and make sense. I appreciated that after 10pm was designated as quiet time. I saw a negative review that mentioned being part of a very large group of people. This is probably not the place for you if you are part of a huge group and/or plan on not supervising children, as Paul and Adrienne prioritize safety and respect for others’ peace. Also, while I missed my dog terribly and wish that he had been able to come, I understand why it’s not a dog-friendly property.

The cabins are cute, clean, and well-maintained. The bathrooms are a decent size, as are the rooms. The kitchenette and outdoor grill were great. My only complaint is that the blinds need to be replaced; they are warped and difficult to open/close.

Finally, as an LGBTQ+ traveler, I was very grateful that I felt safe and welcomed, and I can’t put a price on that. I would definitely...
