This hotel is a disaster!!! Although the bed linen appeared to be clean, the room was not. The carpet in particular was badly stained and filthy, beyond cleaning really and in dire need of replacement. The room, No. 139, had no functioning shower!!! There was a shower head and plenty of hot water, but there was no shower diverter on the faucet and no tub spout diverter either. The whole arrangement was a butcher job, not likely to have been done by a licensed plumber. There was no way to determine whether that shower head was even connected to the faucet.
Then the there is the insect population. I saw at least four different type of insects, and I'm not talking about flies or mosquitoes here. Those I found in the bathroom, I was able to catch and flush. Those in the bedroom were quick enough to evade capture. I found one crawling on the bed, and another dropped on me from some place. Both were about an inch long. I'm not an entomologist, but I suspect they were roaches
In addition, there was a lot of yelling & door slamming into the wee hours. Sleep? No way!
When I reported all this to the desk clerk, I was told that the exterminator had been there only two or days earlier, so clearly this was known issue. I can't help thinking that the open garbage can and numerous large bags of trash all along the outside wall of the rooms had a lot to do with this problem.
Needless to say, I did not get any sleep that night. Fortunately, I had a good book. When I discussed all this with the desk clerk, I was told I should be entitled to a refund, but because the room had been booked through Travelocity, that I had to look to Travelocity for any refund. I did that. Travelocity just informed that the hotel denied the claim. Travelocity was no...
Read morePlease bear in mind that these pictures were taken at the end of our stay and we were about to leave. The bed is a little messy since our toddler wanted a few more minutes on it, but overall, it looks like the Inn is undergoing renovations. The exterior walls were marble or marble-like tiles. The interior of the room was very clean and spacious enough for my husband, our toddler and myself. The bathroom was really, really nice: the shower and tub were both behind a sliding glass door. The tub was VERY deep as well. I haven't had a nice, deep soak in a tub for quite a while! The towels and bedding were very soft. The interior lighting was VERY dim, though. The lamps could be a little brighter, especially when the blackout curtains block all exterior sunlight so well. The Inn is close to restaurants, a gas station, the outlet mall, and the Long Island Aquarium. Overall, a nice place to spend the night if you're...
Read moreI had passed this place a thousand times. Obviously they had been around for a long time. It was located nearby to where I needed to be and was cheap. First off, a number of rooms house homeless people. Can't say I'm shocked. The people manning the front desk were very pleasant and friendly. The hotel itself and room are sort of like a 1955 GMC NYC Transit bus. Very basic, no amenities to speak of, but does what it was made to do. The room was clean, a very few basic items were provided. The A/C barely kept the room cool, but this was during a brutal heatwave, but still....there were "No Smoking" signs posted, but all of the old furniture had lots of cigarette burns on them. Gotta love those self - entitled citiots. Bottom line is, if all you're going to do is sleep there, set your car alarm and get to bed. Otherwise be sure you say HI to those nice folks your tax...
