There needs to be a Zero star option but in the absence of such, I am forced to give my experience at Radisson Hauppauge 1 star. I stayed at this dark, dirty, dreary, dreadful hotel four (4) nights. First off, entering the dark and dreary, lackluster lobby upon check-in, the place wreaked of gas! There was a gas leak! Likely due to the construction or damage to the property. Jared was sitting there and I expressed concern because the smell was so strong.
The quick check-in and out processes are the only thing I recommend about my stay here. My room was on the 6th floor. The hall carpeting was filthy. The elevator floors were filthy. The carpet in my room was stained and filthy. I wish I had taken a photo of the bed which looked like something you would expect to see at a crummy Motel 6 in a crummy section of town with a Health and Human Services housing contract. The “comforter” was lumpy; just unappealing looking and unattractive. It was a shock! The sheets were never changed. The pillows were too soft as though they had been frequently put through a washing machine.
My bed was left unmade two of the four nights I spent there. Towels and wash cloths, even the bath mat, were not replaced. I actually had to ask for a bath mat and towels at the front desk!
Everyday after a long and busy day, I’d take the filthy and creaky elevator up to my room and then, HORRORS… the card key did not work! Now I have to go back downstairs again and have Jared reactivate my card key.
The reception on my so called “flat screen” TV was crummy, particularly the local channels. Despite my daily complaints and Jared’s and the female’s furious note making, remained crummy and snowy to the bitter end. I checked out at 4:30a having slept 4 nights there.
There was NO continental breakfast only a pitiful little set aside space with coffee and soft drinks and chips which wasn’t ever open before 7am. There was NO continental breakfast even though Jared told me himself the continental breakfast buffet was only available on Saturday and Sunday mornings. He never mentioned there was a $15. fee. Neither does any Radisson ad or Booking.com.
To add insult to injury, the rates were jacked up in excess of $40. Friday and Saturday nights and I was NEVER made aware of this. This is not the way it was advertised on Booking.com.
The hotel had a Budget rent a car station but it may as well not have been there for how unaccommodating and useless it was. This was the most dreadful, inhospitable hotel experience I have ever had in my life! To quote the late, great Bette Davis: “What. A. Dump!”
Stay here at your peril. Unless spending close to $1000. bucks for a subpar 2 Star hotel experience doesn’t bother you. I spoke with Christine who said she would call me back to discuss the bill. I never received a call from Christine although I did get an empty and impotent email response to my responses to the survey I completed. The Radisson Hauppauge is a 2Star hotel deceiving the public and perhaps other third parties. It’s a crummy hotel!
My round trip flight from San Diego to NYC was a delight. My visit with my family was enjoyable. The four nights I spent at this hotel followed by the absolute pain of having to pay what I paid completely ruined my trip and continues to rob me of my joy and disrupt my peace of mind. I feel as though I have been cheated and deceived with my eyes wide open. I’m so careful with money. I cannot believe this has happened to me. Everyone associated with Radisson Hauppauge, from Corporate to the cleaning staff, have absolutely NOTHING to be proud of. You should all be embarrassed. This place is a
HORROR!
I will make it my mission to discourage anyone and everyone I know to stay away from there, and what is more, I will never come to Long...

I recently stayed at The Radisson in Hauppauge, NY, from August 9th to 11th, 2024, and unfortunately, the experience was far below my expectations.
After arriving shortly after midnight, exhausted from a long day of travel, we encountered immediate issues. Although check-in was quick, our key cards didn’t work upon reaching our room. When I returned to the front desk, I found no staff present. Along with two other guests, I waited about 30 minutes for someone to appear. We rang the bell multiple times, but no one responded, and my attempts to call the desk went unanswered. Only after knocking on “Employee Only” doors and calling out down the hallway did a staff member finally emerge. To my dismay, he was dismissive and abrasive, insisting that taking out a barely full bag of trash was more important than assisting paying guests.
The issues didn’t end there. The hotel’s lock system was confusing and problematic. Initially, we were given a swipe entry key that didn’t work. After returning to the desk, we were provided a tap entry key, which allowed us into the room. However, these tap keys did not work for the swipe entry locks on the exterior doors, leading to more frustration later in our stay.
Upon entering the room, we were immediately disappointed. The room was extremely humid and reeked of urine. It was clear that housekeeping had not done their job—the carpets were unvacuumed, with hair, dust, and bits of trash under the desk and dresser. The bathroom floor was neither swept nor mopped, with hair and dirt scattered everywhere. The bathroom counter was filthy with grime and stains, and there were smudges on the mirror. To top it off, I discovered what looked like a fried chicken bone under the trash can. The bed was no better. The mattress was filthy and stained, with a stained blanket placed under the fitted sheet, which was so stretched out that it barely stayed on the bed. It felt as if we were sleeping on a flat sheet.
The TV wasn’t functional either, plagued by a fuzzy picture and excessive static that made it unusable. When we reported the issue to the front desk the next morning, the staff member was much kinder and quickly sent someone to address the problem. While the static was resolved, the picture remained blurry, diminishing our ability to relax and enjoy our time in the room.
Housekeeping was another significant issue. Despite us clearly stating that we didn’t want housekeeping, they knocked on our door starting at 9:30 AM each day, and continued every hour until we finally left the room at 4 PM. It was puzzling that they would persistently knock throughout the day but then stop completely once we left, leaving the room as filthy as when we departed.
When we returned from our event that evening, we were unable to re-enter the hotel through the exterior doors, as the tap entry keys provided didn’t work on the swipe locks. We were finally let in by another guest after struggling with the locked doors.
It’s clear that this hotel is severely understaffed and in dire need of better management. The building itself looks like it was once a nice hotel, but it’s now in a state of disrepair. Stains covered the carpets outside the elevators, scuffs and dirt marred the walls, and the elevator area was barren and dirty, with no decor or welcoming furniture.
To add to our frustrations, we found that the ice machines were either non-existent or non-functional on every floor from our room on the 4th floor to the lobby.
For a hotel with such potential, it’s disappointing to see it in such poor condition. I strongly urge potential guests to reconsider staying here until these issues are addressed...
Read moreWe had attempted to stay at this hotel once under it's previous name and ownership. It was horrible and we canceled our second night. When I booked again the name had changed to Radisson so I didn't realize until we arrived it was the same hotel. First everything is extremely outdated. When we arrived (very late) we walked around for a while and no one was around. We kept calling out but no one came. We finally knocked on what looked like an office door and a minute or so later someone came out and didn't say a word but stared at my husband. I said we were checking in and she went to the computer without saying a word. She finally asked my name and information but could not find my reservation. Finally after about 5 minutes she asked for my ID and credit card and handed me the room key, which I assumed meant she found my reservation. She Did not tell me which direction my room was in or say anything else. I grabbed my bag and looked at my room key holder to find out my room and looked up and she was gone. We went towards where we thought our room was and stepped over several areas of rug that were ripped and rumpled up. The lighting was pretty dim in the hallway. We got to our room and it smelled stale and musty. We flicked on the light by the door and the light did not come on. I flicked it on and off a few more times and finally it came on but the light cover in the ceiling was so dirty the light was horribly dim or bulb was out but I couldn't tell which since the cover was so horribly discolored. I walked over to the bathroom and turned that light on and noticed the floors were dirty and had hair on them. The room was not even close to the pictures online. The comforter was brownish red and very dated. The sheets were ill fitting and coming up in the corners. There were two stains on the floor including one very large one next to the bed. The carpet was also fraying and pulled up in places. We left the room right away and asked to cancel our reservation and we were told we couldn't because we had arrived too late for that night but we could cancel our night for tomorrow that we booked. We spent no more than 90 seconds in the room to leave and be charged anyway. The "manager" we talked to a few days later said they didn't see any reservation for our second night and that we hadn't been charged. Which was incorrect, we were in fact charged. And he could not refund anything and we needed to take it up with the company we booked through. When my the company I booked with called them about my refund, the refused to allow a refund for the first night when we arrived late and promptly left after calling twice. The parking lot is also very dimly lit at night and the parking is not near the entrance. Two of the front doors did not work and had signs on them. Overall it was terribly disgusting and I will never go back there. Unless you are looking for a hotel that gives you the feel that they should charge by the hour I would STRONGLY NOT...
