We came upon the Residence Inn Middletown because we needed a pitstop in that area for a one night stay to break up a long drive and recharge. There were a few options in the area but we selected the Residence Inn because it had appeared to be recently renovated and offered suite sized rooms. ||Location:||The hotel is located off of Route 211 (Exit 120) of Route 17. We noted that it is in a very quiet area, set back from the main road. We found it very convenient that the hotel is just a few minutes drive to several restaurants, shops, gas and big box stores. It’s also a 5 minute drive to Galleria at Crystal Run (a large indoor shopping mall). You have your choice of coffee shops in the area and we were able to pick up a few items we needed at Walmart. There are numerous fast food options but also some local restaurants depending on what you are looking for. ||Staff:||During our short stay, we didn’t have many interactions with staff. However, anyone we spoke with was helpful and pleasant and we observed everyone working hard. We arrived late and had an easy check-in experience at the front desk. The staff in the breakfast room was working very hard making sure tables were kept clean and items were refilled as needed. We saw housekeeping working around the building. Everyone was friendly and helpful.||Rooms:||When we were deciding where to stay, the biggest draw to this property was that all the rooms are suites of varying sizes. We knew we needed a microwave and refrigerator but having a freezer was an added bonus that really came in handy for us. We stayed in a king studio suite. The room looked newly renovated and was immaculate when we arrived. You entered the room into an open concept kitchen. The room is equipped with a small stovetop range, microwave, refrigerator with top freezer and a small dishwasher. They also provide silverware, cooking utensils, dishes and pots and pans. Beyond the kitchen was a seating area with a leather couch that had a pullout bed. To the left of the seating area was the bedroom. The TV was located in between rooms and placed on a swivel so that it can be rotated to face either the kitchen/seating area or the bedroom. ||The bathroom was spacious and had a walk in shower. We never ran out of hot water however the water pressure could be improved. Just outside the bathroom there is a vanity area with a mirror and countertop. ||Because we only stayed one night we didn’t unpack. However, we did note that there was a lot of storage in the room and it would be comfortable for a longer stay if needed. ||Breakfast:||Another reason that this hotel stood out over the others in the area was that they offer a complimentary hot breakfast with your stay unlike the typical continental style breakfast. That being said, the hot items such as the eggs and sausages were average to below average. The packaged items such as the cereal, whole fruit, yogurt, muffins and fruit were all good. There were also several gluten free options. Coffee was also available but there weren’t as many milk options as other similar hotels we have stayed in. Overall the breakfast experience was not great but for a quick grab and go before we hit the road, there were enough choices. ||Indoor/Outdoor Space and Amenities:||The hotel's lobby has a nice sitting area with a central fireplace creating a nice ambiance. When we arrived guests were drinking and socializing in this area. Just outside the lobby there is a beautiful outdoor seating area with a nice large fire pit for gathering. There is also a large grill. We didn’t ask if this was for guest use or for the hotel staff. The hotel has a nice size indoor pool with lounge chairs and a medium size gym. All of these areas were clean and well maintained. There were some families enjoying the indoor pool when we arrived. The hotel lobby has a really nice welcoming vibe. If we had more time here, we definitely would have taken advantage of some of these spaces. ||Overall Experience:||Overall the Residence Inn Middletown/Goshen exceeded our expectations for our stay. The hotel checked all the boxes for us including modern upgrades, large rooms, cleanliness, proximity to major highways and restaurants and stores. While the breakfast left a little to be desired, we were able to make it work for our stay. I would recommend the Residence Inn at this location to anyone traveling...

Read moreWe are Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite members/Abound Owners. First issue is when when We reserved our reservation there was nothing in the contract that stated that we would have to pay any additional fees in fact it said all fees were included and taxes so we should have had a zero balance upon check-in however when we checked in on our way there we received a $60 charge on our card which we did not authorize. I immediately called the company to find out why there was a charge in our card The first representative we spoke to said he didn't see the charge at which point I told him when we get there I will show him. Upon arrival we go up to the front desk and they tell us that they don't that's all that the charges are for incidentals We again tell them that this was not part of the original reservation which we made through the app. They tell us that all they have to do this because incidental this only a $60 charge and it will be returned to us the next day. However upon the next day the charge was not released and when we received our receipt there was no indication of a charge being made and then returned to us We received the invoice that says $0 which was the balance and $0 was charged so we have no written record to prove that we were in fact charged and that the money was returned to our bank to date two days later I still show a $60 charge from the original check-in. My husband and I both feel that this is fraud because you're charging people's cards without authorization and not giving them a written record of the fact that you did in fact charge their card and return the funds. We had two different reservations for the next day we also were charged another $60 plus $20 plus a $1 hold charge that showed on my bank account at this point I'm out $141 which I did not authorize for a stay that was being paid for by points as an owner and gold member. In addition, the staff was very rude they were not willing to work with us as a matter of fact upon arrival and all the other Marriott of hotels we've stayed at we've received complimentary water as a way to show that they appreciate our loyalty and the level that we've achieved being owners of Marion this particular location said that it was based on the owners and they don't do that so again we were not treated as though we mattered and there was no customer service to the level that should have been done based on the amount of the rates for these this hotel which is $400 plus. The room itself was okay It was clean didn't have any complaints about that however the shower needs some work It looks like they ran out of money and couldn't afford to put an event in addition they couldn't afford the regular shower curtains or sliding door they only have one so you're cold as your showering I will never stay at this location again! In fact right now I'm still waiting for them to return the funds, I do not recommend this location.
The only good side of the location was it was close to many stores and restaurants. You have been warned.
Never have I received such disrespectful service and inability to resolve the issue, and in fact I asked for the manager Lisa was supposed to be on on duty but when I asked rocio if she was there she said she wasn't on location The breakfast was mediocre at best, They did not have complimentary coffee or tea available at all hours they had the bar open so I guess everything here is nickel and diming you.
Waiting for a call to resolve the issue. What a waste of my points.
Update: tonight we're staying at the Fairfield inn in Goshen. The customer service is amazing! Already we feel like valued guests. We even got an upgrade to our room and they have 4 wedding party guests here. Definitely way better experience. I wish we had stayed here from the beginning. Do yourself a favor and come to the Fairfield inn for a beautiful room and excellent...
