The hotel was OK. Nothing spectacular or above other venues. I lowered the rating because I was told upon reservation and again at check-in that there would be a $50 DEPOSIT for the dog. The word DEPOSIT implies a refund if no damage. Imagine my surprise when I recieved my final bill via e-mail with a $50 PER DAY EXTRA ROOM CHARGE for the dog. I consider this dishonest. It is not the money that bothers me, it is the deception. No the dog did not do any damage. A few dog hairs to vacuum up was it.
UPDATE AFTER OWNER RESPONSE. Yes, I booked 3rd party. However, the 3rd party booking agency (booking.com) could not tell me anything about the pet policy other than pets are allowed. So I called the hotel directly after booking and asked about the dog. I was told on the phone by your employee that there would be a $50 PET DEPOSIT. Not an extra daily room charge, but a DEPOSIT. When I arrived at check-in, of course I expected the $50 DEPOSIT for the dog - that is what I had been told on the phone. This was not a case of me misunderstanding your policy, this was a case of your employee(s) not being correct and clear about what the deposit was for. I travel domestically and internationally frequently. I know very well what a minibar/incidentals deposit is. $50 for incidentals is cheap. Most places are double that or more. That is NOT how the $50 was presented to me, either on the phone or at check-in. So instead of taking cheap shots at me for highlighting a misunderstanding, perhaps you need to put on your management panties and do a little employee education and get everyone on the same page.
It is a nice hotel. Overall I liked the place. I just might be back some day. However, as I said, I dropped the number of stars due to mis-communications from your employees. Do us all a favor and fix that customer communications problem. You might even approach booking.com and others online agencies and make sure that they clearly state additional daily charges for pets, as opposed to a deposit. Good day to...
Read moreI have stayed at this hotel before when it was previously owned by a European business or Fanily. The room was clean and the grounds are well kept. The hot tub was also clean, as well as the fitness room and sauna. It was located in a good place very close to a nice grocery store and small shopping area with a couple places to get food. The overall property it pretty well kept, pleasant and nice. It smiled good, and was visually nice and clean.
The previous owners had a very comfortable stay and nice bedding. Unfortunately, the current owners must have changed the bedding (maybe due to aging, which makes sense), however, unfortunately, the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. I slept quite poorly. I had aching joints and the bed did not conform well to my body due to the either lack of topper or very flat nature of the mattress. It was quite awful after a day in the snow.
Also, we asked about a microwave in the room and they said they would bring it to us. But when we asked for it by phone (called front desk 3 times with no answer) and my their text communication method (did not respond for over an hour), I gave up and hauled the good to a microwave in the lobby. However, the microwave in the lobby was in a "staff area" and it was perched on a shelf in such a way that when i opened the door, it kept tipping on me. Trying to heat up the food was very precarious and challenging. I had to balance the microwave to keep it from falling on me, and not spill my food all over the place. The microwave was also very dirty, with splatter old food all inside of it. It was not a good experience.
I am saddened that the beds were the way they were and that the microwave situation was the way it went. I wish it were better, as generally it was a decent property in a good location. I need good sleep though and convenient methods to eat in the...
Read moreWhat a beautiful hotel! We stayed for three days and absolutely loved our visit. Some notes for future travelers:
There is no elevator or ramp to the second floor. So if you have a baby stroller or are handicapped, make sure to request a first floor room to avoid hassles.
If you have a baby, cribs are available
Microwaves are available for $15 per visit, not per night. Our toddler loves rice bowls and popcorn, so it was a no brainer to get the microwave.
The staff were a super friendly and helpful. They gave us free cookies upon check in and answered a ton of questions for us. During our stay, someone hit a power pole outside the hotel. The hotel was considerate enough to text us letting us know of the accident and power outage. They offered lanterns and flashlights.
There was a mini fridge in our room, already stocked with two beers from a local brewery. There was a basket of snacks in the room as well. They weren’t free, but came in handy and weren’t ridiculously overpriced, as most things are these days.
They have a coffee bar available all day. In the evenings there is a wine/beer bar. They have a restaurant, hot tub, workout room, and a small patio area with patio heaters. They also provide bathrobes in the rooms, which isn’t a necessity, but sure were a nice touch.
Dresser space is limited if you’re the type to unpack your suitcase upon arrival. But there are plenty of outlets and opportunities for charging times in the rooms. If your smart phone has apps like Netflix, HBO Max, etc, their TV’s allow for casting from your phone - something I wish EVERY hotel offered!
The vanity has a large drawer so you don’t have to keep all of your toiletries on the sink.
There are two EPV charging stations as well as bicycles available for use.
Can’t wait to go back and...
