The food was okay, but the service was below average. The biggest disappointment was how long we waited for someone to bring us menus and take our drink order. It was "seat yourself" and we waited at least 10 minutes before anyone brought us menus after we sat down in our booth. And the person who finally brought the menus and silverware didn't offer to take our drink order. So, we waited another 10 minutes before the waitress came to take our drink orders. We recognized this service trend, so we ordered our drinks and food at the same time. It took longer than it should for our drinks to arrive. Once we placed our drink/food order, it seemed the food arrived in about a normal duration of time, but overall, the service was slow. I would say the restaurant was about 1/3 full, with the bulk of the patrons sitting at the bar as opposed to "dining" in at a table or booth.
Our waitress was friendly and thanked us for waiting, but it didn't really seem like she was trying to make up for the poor service up to that point. In addition, when we first walked in, it felt like we walked into a "locals-only small-town bar," where we were immediately identified as "strangers," so everyone stared at us. That could be more indicative of the patrons versus the staff or establishment, but it made me feel unwelcome.
As we were sitting and waiting, I thought that they should install some kind of interactive trivia game (think Buffalo Wild Wings) to keep patrons occupied during their visit. If providing reasonable service isn't a priority, at least provide something to distract patrons from how long they are waiting.
With all the restaurant options in the Truckee area, we probably won't make a point to visit this one in the...
Read moreSo my other two co workers and I swing in for a quick bite after a hard day's work. One guy ordered a quesadilla, the other a burger, and nachos for me personally. We ask for two different drinks, and we're shot down on both, having to find a third option with little to no assistance from our server. After we figure out our drink situation, we finally get our drinks after about 10-15 minutes of waiting. The worst part is that after another 45 minutes after our drinks we FINALLY get our food. The quesadilla wasn't really made well, sloppy and running all over the place. My nachos barely had any cheese on them, I quite literally just had a plate of chips with a handful of olives on it. And the worst part is my buddy asked for no cheese on his burger due to a severe dairy allergy. He gets his burger and it's quite frank that they made it with cheese, saw the no cheese on the order and SCRAPED the cheese off his burger. Now he is currently hurting due to their lack of care. I highly don't recommend this place as the service and food were just downright awful, heavily disappointing. We will not be coming back, and I must warn others to be diligent...
Read moreWe stopped in mid-day on a summer Sunday and there were only a handful of other customers in the restaurant.
First the good - we had a friendly waitress and great service.
Now the hard part, I hate giving bad reviews for food but I ordered a BLT and it was horrible. I thought it sounded like a great summer day sandwich but was disappointed. When you think of BLT's you imagine a mix of the juice from the tomatoes and mayo dripping down your chin. Not here. The sandwich was served dry - ask for mayo. The bacon was overcooked to the point where it wasn't strips but crumbles. There was way too much lettuce and the pieces were not torn to fit the bread, which was too small for the sandwich. The most disappointing part was, however, the tomato - a super thin slice - barely perceptible.
If you try Blue Coyote, try something other...
