It isn't hard to see that the management of this establishment is relying mostly on the fact that people will book because of the convenience of the venue and not because of the quality of the accommodations. I need a few things in a hotel...a comfortable bed, a good shower, plenty of light in the bathroom (otherwise makeup application is virtually impossible, and wi-fi. These are pretty basic and can usually be found for a very affordable price. At the Capstone, the bulbs were burnt out in the bathroom mirror leaving a very scant amount of light, not nearly enough to apply makeup, the wi-fi was unreliable (I couldn't even get a strong enough signal to send a text message), and the outlets in the room weren't working properly which meant that none of us could charge our phones in the room. I could have forgiven all of that if the bed had just been comfortable, but it wasn't. I got 3 hours of sleep the first night and almost four hours the night after. By the time I checked out, I was so exhausted that I just wanted to get out of there quickly. I was overcharged at checkout, and when I brought it up I was told in a very snooty voice that my room was usually rented out for $400 a night. Like that excuses the fact that they tried to overcharge me and failed to maintain my room properly. The hotel itself is very beautiful, but as I said at the beginning of my review, it just seemed like the management was more concerned with renovating the first floor convention rooms than in maintaining the rooms upstairs. After two nights of scattered sleep, not being able to cover up the dark circles under my eyes because the bulbs were out in the bathroom was just more than my little generous heart could handle hence this very strongly...
Read moreFirst impression. Walkway past to front desk was first class. We arrived in town early and was met by a gentleman with a 20 year service stamp on his id. Perfect gentleman and first impression. We arrived early and he informed us our room was ready and available for early check in. I have wanted to stay in the hotel 20 years just have not taken the opportunity. This weekend was very slow in T Town so we decided to take advantage of the advertised price of $125 ++ so total of $167 for night. It was super cool to stay on campus. The room was clean and neat. Some of the renovations were nice but a bit forced. Specifically the bathroom. It was clean and had a great shower and amenities but the upgrades came at a cost of space and navigation of the restroom. Comfy bed, cool chair. There were no usb ports in our room so be sure to bring charging bricks. Bar was cool but not open and I may have missed it but there were no posted hours of operation, I'm not sure if it is only open on game day or not. Message on TV was that breakfast was served till 9AM and was $12. I missed the memo for Sunday's I suppose. Breakfast was served until 10:30 and was $14. Not big deals to me but to the children that I made get up and join me for breakfast at 8:30 after a long night they were not so pleased to find they could have slept a bit longer. I would stay again and I can only imagine how exciting this place would be filled with gameday folk and players. Had a very nice evening. I would recommend you checking this place off your bucket list for sure. Especially if you have a nice long evening/afternoon to walk and explore the beauty of the...
