On a work trip - not too shabby to be stuck here in the snow!! Excited to be here with my DAV #veterans this weekend @HotelCapstone @Alabama
Lynne SchmidtLynne Schmidt
I stayed at the Capstone from April 1-4th to present at a conference. Because I was exhausted from travel, my service dog and I went to their on-site restaurant where we were discriminated against and refused service because I have a disability and require a service dog. The service dog in question at the time of the event was appropriately laying on the floor, not being disrupted. The waitress went so far as to ask for documentation (which doesn’t exist and if it did is illegal to ask for) and say that it’s their “Policy.” She went on to say “We’re allowed to refuse service for any reason” to which I responded “Any reason but discrimination.” The hotel manager apologized to me and said that the staff had been poorly trained and that this was not discrimination, just ignorance. When I checked out, I was told that we would be fully refunded due to the discrimination that took place. I have been in touch with the manager multiple times regarding said refund. It is now April 23rd. We have only received a partial refund.

This beautiful full-service hotel is located right on the University of Alabama campus and is convenient and walkable to everything Bama. Comfy, well-appointed rooms, a great lounge and on-site dining with a renowned chef. Need a place to host a conference or meeting? The Capstone Hotel will take care of everything. The offer so many services that take the stress off the hosts and it’s offered in a place your attendees will truly enjoy. From a gala to a poolside meet and greet, they will have you covered. If you are in town, particularly during the holidays, be sure to check out their nice holiday lunches for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. If you are here during the Christmas season, be sure to drop by their holiday pop-up bar and enjoy all the festivities and fun holiday/theme cocktails. If you are coming during football season, book now and hope it isn’t too late. The Capstone Hotel will take reservations up to a year in advance.

It isn't hard to see that the management of this establishment is relying mostly on the fact that people will book because of the convenience of the venue and not because of the quality of the accommodations. I need a few things in a hotel...a comfortable bed, a good shower, plenty of light in the bathroom (otherwise makeup application is virtually impossible, and wi-fi. These are pretty basic and can usually be found for a very affordable price. At the Capstone, the bulbs were burnt out in the bathroom mirror leaving a very scant amount of light, not nearly enough to apply makeup, the wi-fi was unreliable (I couldn't even get a strong enough signal to send a text message), and the outlets in the room weren't working properly which meant that none of us could charge our phones in the room. I could have forgiven all of that if the bed had just been comfortable, but it wasn't. I got 3 hours of sleep the first night and almost four hours the night after. By the time I checked out, I was so exhausted that I just wanted to get out of there quickly. I was overcharged at checkout, and when I brought it up I was told in a very snooty voice that my room was usually rented out for $400 a night. Like that excuses the fact that they tried to overcharge me and failed to maintain my room properly. The hotel itself is very beautiful, but as I said at the beginning of my review, it just seemed like the management was more concerned with renovating the first floor convention rooms than in maintaining the rooms upstairs. After two nights of scattered sleep, not being able to cover up the dark circles under my eyes because the bulbs were out in the bathroom was just more than my little generous heart could handle hence this very strongly...

First impression. Walkway past to front desk was first class. We arrived in town early and was met by a gentleman with a 20 year service stamp on his id. Perfect gentleman and first impression. We arrived early and he informed us our room was ready and available for early check in. I have wanted to stay in the hotel 20 years just have not taken the opportunity. This weekend was very slow in T Town so we decided to take advantage of the advertised price of $125 ++ so total of $167 for night. It was super cool to stay on campus. The room was clean and neat. Some of the renovations were nice but a bit forced. Specifically the bathroom. It was clean and had a great shower and amenities but the upgrades came at a cost of space and navigation of the restroom. Comfy bed, cool chair. There were no usb ports in our room so be sure to bring charging bricks. Bar was cool but not open and I may have missed it but there were no posted hours of operation, I'm not sure if it is only open on game day or not. Message on TV was that breakfast was served till 9AM and was $12. I missed the memo for Sunday's I suppose. Breakfast was served until 10:30 and was $14. Not big deals to me but to the children that I made get up and join me for breakfast at 8:30 after a long night they were not so pleased to find they could have slept a bit longer. I would stay again and I can only imagine how exciting this place would be filled with gameday folk and players. Had a very nice evening. I would recommend you checking this place off your bucket list for sure. Especially if you have a nice long evening/afternoon to walk and explore the beauty of the...

here is why i gave a 1, I walked in to ck in, they did not have me in the computer, I give them paper with the conformation , still nothing, i show them the email I got from you still nothing , this is one hour later, clerk goes back to see manager which I felt should have come to the front to seer what's going on, all i got is , "we can ck you in but i would have to pay for it upfront until this gets straightened out, well that did not sit good with me, however i did notice on my conformation papers 2 different conformation numbers, so clerk checked it out and was shaking his head as if no-good but did ask me do i know a Miguel? i said yes , he is my grandson, well that took care of that, but i want to know how did his name get on the ticket, i called and paid for it with MY credit card and you sent me emails and conformations under my name, and if that wasnt bad enough, i have a chronic back , which i am having surgery on very soon, as soon as i reached the desk i asked the clerk to put me as close as possible to the elevator, after the ordeal i went to my room which is 237, DO YOU KNOW WHERE ROOM 237 IS??????????????????????????????????? there is no room that is further away from the elevator, i think you deserve a 00000000000000000000000000000 for hiring incompetent people, or just not training them right, this is not the last review, i will go on other sites and bad mouth you i just...
