Starbucks — Restaurant in Tuscaloosa

I've been to this store a couple times now and am a repeat customer since it's the only coffee shop anywhere close to my apartment. Occasionally, the service unfolds as an escalating comedy of errors.

Case in point, I came in one night, place was empty so no line, asked for a coffee and waited 5-7 minutes. Got my coffee and it was lukewarm, no big deal, right? Went back to the counter and asked the cashier if I could get it hot. For a second I thought they were taking the piss because he filled it back up from the same drip. Got it back, same temperature as expected. Wasn't mad, but like dude, are you even trying? Eventually, third time was the charm. After that, asked for a water, and was told it'd be thirty cents? Y'all seriously gonna charge me for a water cup when against all odds y'all botched a drip coffee order. Hilarious. I get that most of the hires are as green as they get, but c'mon y'all.

I am not sure of the positive reviews. This is by far the worst Starbucks outlet that I am aware of. Part of it is about the size: it is simply hard to run with so many in-person and remote customers. Yet the service level is very uneven and this is something the managers could have addressed. Here are some basic issues:

1. people at the counter may not know basic drinks such as “caffe americano”

2. what is actually in stock and what you can order via the app may not be the same thing and be prepared to have to file a formal complaint to the managing company to get a refund

3. people at the counter will not check if what you order is in stock unless you ask

4. people in charge of warmed baked items may literally forget to bring them back to the counter unless reminded

5. the place is crowded. Be prepared for long lines and even longer order waits.

6. complaining usually results in a rude response...

This is a large Starbucks on the University of Alabama campus. The location is inside the Supe Store (school book store), and shares a bathroom between the Starbucks and the Supe Store. The place has plenty of room, plenty of seating, and friendly staff. The only issue I've ever had here is I've never been able to place an order from my phone. It always says "mobile order not available". That would be helpful here, as the place can get pretty busy.
