On or off season Vail Cascade is truly a four diamond hotel. I was greeted at the front desk by Alex. Alex was extremely pleasant and polite. He checked us in in less than 5 minutes. While being checked in, Joe the concierge had the vehicle unpacked and loaded up. In the time it took to park the car and walk to our room, Joe had already arrived at our room and unloaded our things. Joe took the time to hang up our coats, show us the room and make a few local recommendations.
I must admit that we spent sometime at the bar. The bartender Warren was an absolute delight! He had knowledge about different beverages as well as a creative flair for making them. While at the hotel, we dined at the Atwater restaurant. Between the three of us we had steak, salmon and chicken. I was able to taste each portion and they were all delicious. During our three day stay we did pop into the gym for a brief moment; for the people that must get a workout in Vail does not disappoint.
I must apologize in advance because I can not remember the name of the must important person that we interacted with, however it was either Jasmine or Jessica. I will call her "J". We spent a total of 3 nights with Vail Cascade. When we got home, we realized that we had left behind a necklace and two rings. The next morning I called the hotel and spoke to J. She had someone go up to the room and they were able to locate the items. J had them sent Fedex.
I'd like to end with we will be visiting Vail Cascade sooner rather than later and that even if your name was not mentioned w/in this review I know that it takes a wonderful crew to make things happen. To the housekeepers, turn down servers, waiters, waitresses and all others that made our stay as perfect as it was a big THANK...
Read moreLong story short, they gave me food poisoning. The first day I arrived at the hotel with my family after a very long drive we were all very hungry so we went downstairs to the restaurant. I ordered fish and chips. When they brought my food I ate a piece of the fish, it was very chewy and tasted terrible and I immediately started to feel very sick. I started to smell a terrible stench and I realized it is coming from my food and told the waiter and he took the food away. The manager came over and apologized and they were all visibly scared that I might have to go to the hospital and they would be in trouble so they brought me lime juice and bitters so I'd feel better. The fish was rotten and probably over a year old sitting in their freezer and they cooked it and brought it over to me. Complete lack of care on their part. Food poisoning from fish is very dangerous and life threatening. My father also ordered a ribeye steak sandwich and what he got was low quality beef trimmings and an old piece of dry bread. They ended up not charging us for the table out of fear. It would have cost around $200. We ended up all hungry because nobody ate their food. I went to my room very sick and dizzy and had to throw up but thankfully didn't have to go to the hospital, This was my worst hotel experience. They charge very high prices for everything and use very low quality and rotten...
Read moreWe were torn between getting two rooms at the Grand Hyatt hotel and getting a condo at the Vail Residences. We booked the condo and it was the wrong call. I’m sure it varies by unit but we booked a 2 bedroom Platinum condo directly with Hyatt and we were given a 3 bedroom “Penthouse” unit that was in a building attached to the hotel by a walkway.| The hotel itself was great, we loved the lobby bar, ate dinner at the restaurant, loved the live music and had great service. Having the condo attached to the hotel was also really convenient. The condo, however, was just a huge disappointment. There was a full-size bed (not even a queen) in the primary bedroom, and the other two rooms were both downstairs with twin beds. The decor throughout was early 90s modern—really weird given the mountain setting and just cheap looking, uncomfortable and badly decorated throughout. |I know there are 3 different levels of condos, this one was “Platinum” and Hyatt should not be renting these at that (or any) level until they are at a minimum redecorated and possibly renovated (the gearing system was really old and impossible to figure out, bathrooms were weird, etc…). We considered moving to the condo next door and it was no better. That said, the hotel ambiance and amenities were great and had we just been in regular hotel rooms at the Grand Hyatt, we would...
