If I can rate this place a ZERO I would! I booked a "GOLD" room at Simba Run which they were charging over $500 per night. I called the property manager ahead of booking online to verify that the room looked like the pictures online and to get as many details as possible. She stated that we would be staying in one of their "best rooms" on the premises. At that point I felt satisfied that I was going to stay in a very nice room, but had to advise the manager of my asthma condition which I am very sensitive to foul odors and poor air conditions that might carry dust mites. She assured me that their rooms were top-notch and that I would not have any problems what so ever. So with her (Michelle Davidson) assurance I booked the room.
Well upon my arrival I felt like I walked into the wrong property. The lobby did not look anything like the glitzy pictures they had online. So I was already a bit worried. I asked if I can see my room prior to checking in and the front desk attendant obliged and gave me a key to the room that I was too stay in. So I went up and looked at the room and couldnt believe what I was looking at. The first thing I noticed was that the room I walked into did not look like ANY of the pictures online. I also noticed a very foul odor which was all too familiar for me. It was mold! The room was beyond outdated, had staples sticking out of the carpet which was a dark burgandy color, the bathrooms had hair all over the floor and had MOLD in the shower and under the sink area. It smelled so badly that I instantly starting having breathing issues. I immediately left and informed the front desk attendant that I could not stay in that room and she told me that it was the only room they had left. So without the choice of another room I had no other choice but to leave as my asthma prohibited me to stay in their last room.
I then spent the next 5 hours searching for a room only to find out everything in Vail was sold out. At this point it was midnight and I still did not find anything.
After calling almost every hotel in town I got lucky as the manager at Manor Vail Lodge said she could help us out and gave us her last room. I was beyond grateful and was so happy that the manager gave us a very clean and nice room.
The next morning I woke up to a very rude message from someone at the Simba Run that they would not refund my money due to any medical conditions. After explaining to Michelle Davidson (property manager) that I physically could not stay in that room that they gave me due to medical reasons, she flat out said that she didnt care about my asthma even though I sent her my medical records proving I get very sick from air pollutants. To add injury to insult, she also stated that they would pursue full payment from my credit card company. In her words she said "medical issues are not an acceptable reason to cancel a room and its against their policy to do so".
I tried to reason with the manager only to be insulted by this woman over and over which made me finally give up. Luckily I called my credit card company the night before explaining to them what had happened and that I could not stay in that room. They documented the cancellation and reversed the charge. But that wasn't the end.
Michelle Davidson wrote a letter (see below) to my credit card company making up total lies about how I checked into their hotel which I never did. She also stated that I stayed in the room which I never did and that I never complained about the room which is the furthest from the truth. It was quite the opposite. (Remember it was documented with my credit card company the night before) She also came up with some lie that I went to Denver which was the biggest lie of them all because we told her we were in Vail and went back to meet her in person the following day only to be stood by her.
I would not stay at this property for any reason whats so ever unless you want to get ripped off by Michelle Davidson! She is very dishonest person who doesn't care about if you have medical issues. You have been...
Read moreSimba Run is at the east end of Vail, a stately yet older set of condos. We stayed four days over a weekend in the second week of December. There was snow the Friday we arrived so the weekend was crowded with skiers. Our condo held five comfortably. One room had a king size bed, one room had two twins. Two bathrooms and a fully furnished kitchen made for a comfortable stay. Little things like a blender, a corkscrew, a vacuum cleaner, and two humidifiers show great guest care. The furnishings and decor are a little dated in the dim lighting, but still comfortable.. There's even a wood burning fireplace. The two bedrooms and the den have cable TV. Our view was crowded by towering firs covered in the recent snow, but most units seem to have a great view of mountains. Plenty of glasses and dishes, microwave, dishwasher...all the comforts of home. The building has a pool, hot tub, workout room, and a small business center. There are lockers for skis.
They have a shuttle service which is advertised as running to the Vail Transportation Center and Lionshead every fifteen to twenty five minutes or so depending on traffic and crowd size, but it was unfortunately not very consistent. On Saturday evening we waited for an hour on Vail before finally calling an Uber. One night the driver was extremely helpful and went out of his way to help us out. Next night, the above mentioned hour wait. Other drivers didn't pay attention to riders when asked where they were going. A little customer service improvement would be welcome. There's a bus stop immediately behind the building that delivers the same free service, and while not as frequent, is more reliable.
Simba Run is a fine, serviceable condo for a visit to Vail. It's probably a better value than most of the places for rent, and you'll be quite comfortable and cozy for your...

Location, Location, Location! Simba Run is extremely close to the lift and the shuttle service made it effortless to get the day started. It was so relaxing to cook a full breakfast and watch the sun peek over the mountains with a cup of hot coffee. Simba’s shuttle took us to both Lions Head and Vail Village so we could nab first tracks each day- it was outrageous.
We put out our winter boots and walked into town each evening after a relaxing hot tub and sauna. The trail from Simba to town is out of a fairy tale- I wish I wouldn’t have left my DSLR at home. After a few drinks and a lot of amazing food each night, we’d hop back in the shuttle to make it home for a nice read by the fireplace before bed (I need to find out what bedding was used because it was like sleeping in a cloud and I just can’t go back to my old stuff at home #spoiled).
The rooms were spotless and spacious with great views of the sunrise and we caught sunsets each night from the tennis courts which stretched on forever through the Vail Valley. I don’t think I quite realized how much of the night sky I was missing either- there was zero light pollution and we even caught 4-5 shooting stars (we made a wish each time too haha)! Of course, the kids enjoyed the fireplace for s’mores and the heated indoor pool!
To sum it up, Simba Run will be where we’ll stay for Winter vacations in Vail. My wife could not believe that I was able to plan us such an amazing Winter vacation and I want to keep this winning streak rolling! Honestly, Simba Run made it easy for me and I couldn’t give it a higher...
