My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at Vail Run Resort. We ended up there with an RCI timeshare exchange. We were a bit nervous to see our room as the common areas of the property seemed a bit dated. We initially were supposed to get a room not facing the ski resort and mountain views but the lady at the front desk changed our room to a luxurious, spacious room facing Vail Resort. ||Check in is 4:00 btw and they don't issue keys until that time. ||Our room had two bedrooms. One was queen bed and the other had 3 singles to accommodate several children. There was a powder room in addition to a full bathroom. ||We were continually impressed with the nice touches in our room and around the property. We had plenty of dishes, quality cookware, even things like spices and tupperware for storage. In our living room we found a list of items we could have upon request (see photo). We asked for a tea kettle and some place mates. They were delivered promptly. We cooked in several times and really appreciated the quality appliances found in the kitchen. Our unit had 3 smart TVs (Family room and both bathrooms) our friends who visited were impressed with the large variety of channels offered on the Dircect TV system. We also had a balcony and a gas fireplace. ||We were surprised to find many gas grills around the pool area and lower level patio. They not only were stocked with full gas canisters, they had utensils and some spices. We discovered a fire table that was easily lit and allowed us to enjoy the cool evenings. The outdoor pool was heated and lovely. There is an indoor hot tub (no jets - just bubbles). There is a dry sauna, changing room and a gym.||One thing to be aware of is the property overlooks the busy Interstate 70. So, our room, while it had great views, was noisy with the windows open. There isn't any air conditioning on the property. This typically isn't a problem in the mountains. Our room not only had ceiling fans, it had several portable fans. We ended up setting up one of the higher velocity fans in the window of the "kids room" where we could keep the window open without being exposed to the...
Read moreThis place basically took my money after I was unable to check in. I went to go see John Summit (a daytime concert) in Vail. Their checking times are 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We arrived in Vail at 1:00 p.m., but it was too early to check in, so my friend and I went to go have lunch, which just happened to be right next to the venue for the concert. The concert was scheduled to go from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. so we figured we would just go check in right after the show. However the show didn't end until 9:30 pm, and when we went to the hotel there was nobody at the front desk. There was a phone number to call, so I sat in the reception area for 15 to 20 minutes repeatedly calling the number, which nobody picked up. It was just an automatic message. I walked around trying to find somebody, but couldn't find anyone to help so we ended up having to drive back to Denver, an almost 3 hour drive, and we didn't get back until 12:30 at night, exhausted. I tried to reach out to the hotel and received a rude message back saying "had you called the number at the front desk you would have received instructions on how to check in", but I responded back that I called the number several times and at no point did I receive any instructions because nobody answered and there was no instructions on the automated line. They never responded back to me following this message. I tried to get a refund, at which point I was denied due to them requiring 72-hour advance notice for late checkins. Stay away from this place if you don't want to lose out on $525 per night because they have ridiculous check-in rules and are inconsiderate of circumstances that fall beyond these rules. I never got to see the inside of the rooms, but from what I saw from the lobby and the outside of the resort, it was old and outdated and overpriced anyway. You're basically paying an outrageous nightly rate because it's in Vail even though the aesthetic appeared worn down and in...
Read moreThis resort is not up to the hoity-toity standards of Vail, but it is both a comfortable and affordable place to stay in a town with not a lot of the latter. Someone here is doing the best they can with what they have to make the place enjoyable for guests. I appreciate the attention to details, like good lighting, a ton of dishes and cookware, availability of many appliances, tons of towels/pillows/bedding, and the decorations in the apartment. They clearly are trying, even if they don't have a big budget for fancy stuff. The decor is outdated, yes, but who cares? The room was clean when we arrived for a week long stay, but it did have a heavy air freshener scent. We had to air it out, but the smell went away. The shower does drain a little slow, yes. It seems pretty petty to complain about cracks in the parking lot, as another reviewer did, but they were fixed this week during our stay. The staff was so very nice and friendly, and yes it's apparent that they are working on a skeleton crew and, like every other business at this time, are short staffed. It shouldn't be a big surprise that they might have trouble finding people who will clean your room in an incredibly expensive resort town in the best of times, and we are not there, folks.
The pool, hot tub and sauna are nice. Again, yes outdated, but the staff is doing the best they can to keep it useable and make it nice for guests.
The bus stop on the property is incredibly convenient, and Vail's free bus system is clutch.
The two big negatives about this place are the lack of AC and the highway noise. But neither of those are going to change. The apartment was always hot, because we couldn't leave the doors and windows open at night due to the noise. It was manageable, but...
