We were recommended to go to The Blue Moose for pizza in Vail on our way to Avon for a business conference today (8/4/16). As we tried to get semi close to the blue moose, it was a cluster of traffic, pedestrians, tiny roads squeezed by over-commercialized buildings too squashed together with needle in a haystack, pay to park parking. It was claustrophobic and ridiculousness from hell. We're more supporters of local-style establishments anyway (as lifelong rural CO residents) so we turned around, got outta that mouse trap and back on the frontage road. Due to road construction, our lane was closed and just as I was about to flip around, we saw Chicago Pizza. It looked much more inviting, had free parking, and was right there off the frontage road. We ordered the BBQ Chicken 16" pizza and thoroughly enjoyed it!! They specially made a kid size cheese pizza for our 3 year old son and he chowed down. Our server and cook were the Owners!! They were both so very friendly and willing to converse with us. And our 3 y/o son was able to stretch his legs from the car ride and run around a bit, lol. They run a true longtime local, welcoming, unique, clean, authentic-Vail (not over commercialized) establishment. And a family-friendly environment. Pizza was great, owners are great. A breath of fresh air for sure in this over commercialized world today (especially how Vail has become the past few decades). This is the type of place that we all NEED to support and keep thriving!! And although the pizza and service we had were great, it's not only ALL about those things...it's what establishments like Chicago Pizza represent vs the over commercialization of everything these days in CO, the USA and our daily lives. Just two good people (not million/billion-aires or a corporation) running a local food establishment to make their livelihood...and thriving for 30 years as Vail expanded all around them...true Coloradans, truly American. That's how I see it. Thank you Chicago Pizza for great food, a great environment, your pleasant-ness and a great experience. You are good...
Read moreI read some of the reviews in here and I saw that there were some negative reviews and I decided immediately that I wanted to try some of this pizza because the owners replies were hilarious and awesome. Most business owners will say something like how sorry they were that someone didn’t enjoy their product but these owners tell it straight! So first of all this is not your ordinary pizza and it’s not like a fluffy light crust as you might be expecting but it is absolutely delicious. Maybe there’s a bit of a saltine-esque cracker vibe in there but when I have eaten actual saltines they absorb all the water from my entire body and I cannot survive long without drinking a glass of water. However when dining on this pizza it did not create the thirst of a dying person in the desert but instead it rejuvenated my taste buds and made my tummy come alive with delicious spirits. Does this place have anything to do with Chicago? No. Is it pizza in the traditional, boring sense? No. But you’ll find cheese and sauce on top of this fluffy thin crust creation, and you...
Read moreHorrible business practices. Our first attempt to go, we called the day of to make sure they would be open for dinner. We get there for dinner and find them "closed for catering." Our second attempt the next day for lunch, they would not honor a non-expiring promo coupon at face value. Obviously, making things right for their customers is not a priority. Good luck. Response to owner’s reply: As a frequent business traveler, I average eating out around 500 times a year and you managed to make my 2nd ever negative review for a restaurant. Your indifference and lack of an apology for making us waste a trip when you said you would be open the day prior is not surprising given your treatment of my family by not honoring the as-printed agreement on a non-expiring coupon your company authorized. Your lack of an apology in your response is telling. Your misrepresentation of our discussion as less than respectful is...
