Review of Super 8 by Wyndham Vancouver East: A Disappointing Experience
I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience at the Super 8 by Wyndham Vancouver East, which has compelled me to write this review to warn other travelers. As a frequent traveler and a former loyal Wyndham Rewards member, I expected a certain standard of service, especially the preferential treatment promised to loyalty program members, such as early check-in when possible. Unfortunately, this hotel fell woefully short of those expectations.
Upon arriving early in the morning after a grueling night of travel, I was informed by the front desk that the standard check-in time was strictly 3 PM. Astonishingly, I was told I could check in early but at an additional cost of five dollars per hour before the official check-in time. This is contrary to the perks that are supposed to be afforded to Wyndham Rewards members, one of which includes the flexibility of early check-in based on availability, without additional charges.
The rigidity of this policy and the unexpected fees were not just disappointing but felt like a blatant disregard for member benefits and customer service standards. It’s misleading and unfair to loyal customers who are part of their rewards program under the impression of receiving enhanced services. This kind of nickel-and-diming practice is unacceptable for a brand that prides itself on hospitality and customer care.
The implications of such policies are severe for the reputation of Wyndham. They risk alienating loyal customers, eroding trust, and diminishing the perceived value of their rewards program. If Wyndham continues to allow franchisees like Super 8 by Wyndham Vancouver East to operate in this manner, they should reconsider their affiliation to protect the brand’s integrity and customer loyalty.
In conclusion, I am profoundly disappointed with the service at Super 8 by Wyndham Vancouver East and with Wyndham’s oversight of its franchisees. This experience has not only deterred me from returning to this location but has also led me to question my continued patronage of any Wyndham affiliated property. For a company that needs to uphold a standard of quality and customer satisfaction, it’s disheartening to see how far they have strayed. I’m...
Read moreMotel 8 was very disappointing, and I would not recommend 8 to anyone to stay here. The reception staff were unhelpful, had poor communication skills, and showed little concern for guest safety, relying solely on cameras rather than providing proactive assistance.
The hotel lacked basic facilities and proper maintenance: the blow dryer was broken and hazardous, the telephone didn’t work, the fridge was broken and had an odd smell, housekeeping wasn’t provided daily, and the laundry machines were out of order. The coffee was disappointing, and there was no breakfast or snacks available despite the revenue the hotel generates, maintenance and upkeep are clearly neglected.
Staff were lazy, unprofessional, unfriendly, ungroomed and orders guests to help themselves when it's their job is in hospitality for a hotel environment, showing no effort to fix these issues. They allowed loud music late into the night on nearby public property, while fights and arguments occurred on hotel property at 2 am and in a trailer next to the hotel, creating an unsafe and disruptive environment.
There was also a drunk female guest who was on probation and in a sobriety program, looking for ICE, who needed assistance, but the staff were unhelpful and even prevented her from getting help, despite her being confused about her room number. If Mr. Patel’s staff cannot address and coordinate with local enforcement or meet basic legal and regulatory requirements for operating a hotel, these are the evidence of poor and negligent management, and may even violate Washington labor and hotel regulations.
On top of this, staff told guests they had to leave for no reason and could only return after 48 hours.
Nationality makes no difference when management cannot properly take care of guests neither address the local business communities safety.
Overall, the hotel was poorly managed and unsafe. I would totally fire the current staff and...
Read moreHorrible motel, the 2 random people hanging around the check in office were obviously homeless and smelled horrible. The check in staff barely spoke any English and could barely check in. The random cars across the street we're selling drugs all night, yelling at each other, and blaring music. Barely slept at all that night due to all of this, plus randomly getting up every 45 mins/hour to check if my vehicle/belongings were not getting stolen. Once in the room, the bathtub had a 8inch scratch on the bottom of it. At about 1am, the neighbor decided to work on his motorcycle, rev the engine multiple times and did other stuff for approximately an hour. Horrible experience with this hotel. WILL NOT GO BACK
Edit for reply: the reservation was not under my name, it was under my significant other. One of the reasons why we did not address this at the time is due to your staff barely understanding English, he had asked if we had pets, we replied yes, he didn't understand, we repeated three different times. Here are the reasonw why none of this was addressed was the following 1)The drug dealing across the street, not on your property, so you can't do anything about it even if I complained. 2)The neighbor working on his bike outside, once he left... Nothing the manager could do. 3) The homeless outside the check-in office, after about 2 hours they had left 4) Concerning the crack in the tub, we only noticed this after we had unloaded everything and were settled in, and after driving close to 10 hours that day, we just wanted to shower and go to sleep.
I will give you this the area AROUND the motel is fine, good dining, multiple hotels, shopping areas, but the motel at this location is...
