DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, I flew for eight hours to Austin, TX. Then I drove two hours to the Courtyard by Marriott Victoria located in Victoria, TX for a two-day business meeting. I entered the hotel lobby at 2:30 PM and tried to check into my room. I was so tired. The female front desk attendant told me that my room on the fourth floor wasn't ready, so I transported my luggage from my car to the hotel lobby where I sat for 90 minutes. I sat 20 feet from the front desk and within visual contact of the female front desk attendant. I watched the female front desk attendant flirt with her boyfriend that was seated in the lobby area for over 90 minutes while I waited for my room. I finally walked up to the counter and asked a male front desk attendant if my room was ready. He said, "Yes, your room has been ready for a while." Then he checked me in, gave me the keys to room 404, and I took the elevator to my room. As I walked into the hotel room, I noticed a strong moldy and musty smell. The female front desk attendant told me earlier that the hotel was completely booked and there were no rooms available, so I didn't try to change rooms. I sprayed Lysol in the room hoping the smell would go away, but the odor persisted. Then I tried to turn on the TV by using the remote control, but the TV would not come on. The Maintenance Manager had to come up to my room and plug in the TV. There was mold on the bathroom walls, two live spiders on the floor, and only two sets of towels in the bathroom. The air conditioner was extremely loud, vibrating, and whistling! I removed the front cover of the air conditioner to stop the vibration and whistling. That's when I noticed a white caked on residue on the front vents of the air conditioner. It was filthy! There was a white substance on the floor near the right side of the bed, and the floor was extremely moldy. The wallpaper in the room was peeling off the wall. By the time I checked out of the hotel, even my clothes and luggage smelled like mold. This was the worst hotel stay I've experienced in a long time. Do...

Read moreWhile traveling on business, I found myself passing through Victoria, TX. I was looking for a room for the night. I've stayed at many Courtyard by Marriott hotels and have always found them a fantastic place to stay and was glad to find a Courtyard in Victoria.
The location was ideal. There were plenty of places close by to eat and shop. There was even a movie theater and shopping mall all within just a short walking distance away.
You walk in to the spacious lobby and you very quickly see everything the Courtyard has to offer. A spacious dining area that offers a full bar in the evening and wonderful breakfast options in the morning. Beyond that is a casual common area with a television, guest computers and plenty space to just hangout. And beyond that, a beautiful outdoor sitting area.
Next to the front desk, there is a shop offering hot and cold snacks, drinks and a variety of travel items (toothbrush, razors, aspirin, etc.) The sign in the lobby also lets you know they offer a fitness center, guest laundry and meeting room.
The room was perfect. It was spacious with a really cool, unique look to it that I can't recall seeing in any other hotel room. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and plenty of room for all my luggage. The bathroom had a nice big shower which is always a plus.
But what I really appreciated was the five star staff. Brenda Guajardo was so awesome over the phone making arrangements. Joseph welcomed me at the front desk with his friendly, professional service. And the next morning, a nice woman (sorry I didn't catch her name) set me up with a much need cup of Starbucks coffee.
Courtyard by Marriott are always a winning choice, But the Courtyard in Victoria went above and beyond the call. Thank you...
