This is definitely one of the best Courtyards I have ever stayed at! I honestly have nothing but positive things to say about this hotel. Things that stood out to me:
All the rooms appear to have a microwave and a fridge in each room, in addition to the complimentary coffee maker/Keurig machine. This hotel does offer housekeeping everyday and appears to be back in full-service, no longer offering limited service now that Covid is no longer a major concern. The staff at this hotel is very polite and accommodating. My bathroom ran out of Conditioner in the shower one night and it was past midnight. I called the front desk and they sent up a concierge employee to deliver 2 travel size bottles of Conditioner and I tipped them for helping me out so late at night. The housekeeping at this hotel is very good. Bed was made everyday upon return, K-cups for the coffee machine and cups/condiments were restocked everyday as well. New towels were provided everyday too. This hotel is very close to a WMATA subway stop that allows for easy access all over DC. The Domino's Pizza on the first floor by the hotel is open until midnight, which makes for a very good last minute option. There are other nearby food options as well. I was informed by the employees working at The Bistro that they offer a breakfast buffet on days they have high occupancy. On weekdays, it's $19.99/person, on weekends, it's $24.99/person, coffee and drinks included! Their breakfast buffet offered waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, bagels, cereal, toast, fresh fruit, etc. It was a good mix of hot and cold breakfast items. Compared to other Courtyards, this hotel actually had a gym that had more than just cardio equipment, actually had a Pulley machine to adjust for different resistance workouts and some kettlebells/yoga balls/mats. Even had a small pool open from 8am-8pm. They have a small laundry room on the 8th floor that is just 1 washer and 1 dryer, but good for trips where you need to clean clothes for the next day. They always have a security guard/valet employee on the first floor entrance.
As a Platinum Elite Member with Marriott Bonvoy, I was very pleased with my stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Washington DC/U.S. Capitol. I booked with points on the Marriott website/app and was given a very nice room on the 7th floor. I stayed here for Otakon that was taking place at the Walter E. Washington Conventer Center, and the subway ride was 25 minutes or less to Mt. Vernon.
I also found it cute that the housekeeper for my room, Xiomora, always arranged the plushies my partner and I bring with us on our trips on the bed or the sofa in the room. It definitely made us feel at home.
One last thing: I see in some reviews that some people were complaining about the hold on their credit cards upon check-in. It's always a good idea to pull up your reservation online to look at the "Rate Details". Before I checked-in, I noticed that the hold was "$100 per night". When I asked the front desk about it at check-in, they said that was correct, but that they could lower it to $50/night. It is simply just an incidental fee for your stay. If you spend less than the held amount, the overage gets refunded to your card. I highly recommend people make sure they have enough credit on their card on file to ensure they can cover this fee, and to kindly ask the front desk if they could help you by potentially lowering the hold (not guaranteed, but worth asking).
If I stay in DC again, this is definitely one hotel I...
Read moreDO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL (lots of issues) Cleaners stealing valuables, rude staff, “overbooking”, parking issues, halls and lobby stink of weed, bums outside 24/7, and horrible breakfast. We arrived on time and went to check in, They told us our room (double bed) had been “over booked”, what does that even mean? Also we booked over a month in advance so this kind of mistake is unacceptable. Their response was that they can give a family of four a room with a single bed and a sofa, not a sofa bed, just a small sofa/couch. We obviously weren’t going to take that so after telling them its not an option they “finally found” (they didn’t want to give it to us) two rooms with single beds for us to sleep in for one night, then the next morning we would go to a room with a double bed. Since that was the best option we took it, Me and my Wife had to sleep in separate rooms with one child each. So that was their poor organisation in bookings. Now the breakfast, this is a Marriott hotel so we expected at least a decent breakfast. Firstly, it was not worth the money. Secondly, at 7:30 (30 mins since breakfast had started” they only had ONE option for cereal, which both my sons were allergic to. They settled for something on the menu labelled “pastries, bagels, or muffins” once again they told us they only had one option, a blueberry muffin. Breakfast staff were impatient and seemed bothered to serve us. Overall the breakfast was an embarrassing experience, especially for a Marriott hotel. It stunk of marijuana in the halls and lobby, IN A NON SMOKING HOTEL. Bums sitting outside 24/7 and the security do nothing. Parking is a nightmare, valet costs $55 A DAY and there are no nearby spaces for parking. Now the worst part, the room cleaners stealing our valuables. Before we came to this hotel we bought a birthday present for our youngest son worth $200. I placed this big, heavy box on top of the wardrobe, it’s impossible for one of the cleaners to have mistaken it for trash as it was out of reach and weighed more than a kilogram. We are all sure that it could have only been a cleaner that stole it. At this point, my son is crying his eyes out and i have no idea what to do, we searched our entire room, nothing. We went down to speak to someone at the front desk to see if a cleaner had brought something down, they say there is nothing there, my son goes into the back and confirms nothing matches the description of the box. We spoke to the front desk 3 days before we checked out and they said they will look into it, the night before we left we spoke to them again to see if there was any update and they started acting dumb, “why didnt you speak to us sooner”. Then the morning we were checking out they told us it isnt their responsibility. The most audacious thing about this is that one of the staff LAUGHED IN MY FACE claiming that $250 was nothing and that we should go buy another one. In the end we left without our item, kids crying, bank account damaged. Check in staff are rude and act like we are being a burden (especially Nicole, Marco, and Kyan) better customer service anywhere else honestly. THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECT...
Read moreI visited Courtyard by Marriott DC in early April 2025. I decided to stay with his hotel chain because Courtyard is always a pleasant stay. I did mobile check in while enroute to the hotel and my room was ready prior to my arrival. Upon entering the hotel, you are on the first floor which you can also find the valet for parking, luggage storage, and we were greeted by Marquette. Marquette is amazing his customer service skills are subpar. He provided some recommendations regarding business in the area. Valet parking is $55 for overnight. There is a small sitting area on the first floor. Afterhours and on the weekends, you need your hotel key in order to get inside the hotel as the doors lock. There is also a security guard on the first floor. There are 3 elevators in which you can take any of them upstairs to the check in desk on the 2nd floor. There are amenities on the 2nd floor including the ATM, the gym (open 24 hours), an indoor pool, conference/meeting rooms, the Bistro restaurant and bar, and Starbucks, etc. There are about 8 floors total in the hotel. Although there was a conference also going on in the hotel it never felt overcrowded and we never waited long for the elevators. We had a view of the back of the hotel and could view the trains coming in and out of the stations in which we loved. When looking at the reviews prior to booking the hotel I did notice many people mentioned the hotel was quite noisy being so close to the train tracks of the Metro Station Red Line and Union Station. Let me assure you if you’re from a big city like I am the noise will not bother you one bit. It didn’t not disturb our sleep. I think it did the opposite and put me to sleep faster. If you’re from a small city or light sleeper maybe requesting a room in the front would work better. I was pleased to find the extra towels and washcloths in the room I requested when arriving to our room. The room was clean and spacious. We also had a separate room with a King size bed with walk in shower that was also clean. There were lots and lots of outlets in the rooms which I also appreciated. My mom wanted an extra blanket I called downstairs around 1:00 am in less than 5 minutes later they were at the door. We had both a microwave and fridge in our room. The fridge was really small, I mean tiny. It’s more of a fridge for beverages than to store food. I could hardly store my salad in it. All the staff we encountered were very hospitable. We did visit the gym and used the treadmills. There is a water station and towels for you to use. The valets also had excellent communication we requested our car prior to coming downstairs and they informed us there was a truck blocking and it would be a delay. I definitely appreciated that instead of having us wonder what was going on. We didn’t eat at the Bistro Restaurant so I can’t give a review for it. The hotel is in walking distance of many restaurants including Dominoes, Subway, Five Guys, and lots more. There is also a 7/11, Harris Teether not too far and CVS. If I come back to this area, I would definitely book this...
