EDIT: I'm updating my review of this park due to consistent issues. There are far too many parents allowing their kids into the dog park section, allowing them to run around completely unaware of how dogs may react to them. It is unsafe and makes me weary of consistently going here.
I have also noticed owners bring dogs that are clearly not socialized into the park and some that keep their dogs leashed while in the park. One of these leashed dogs had several instances where it aggressively snapped at other dogs.
It takes time to build a community within a dog park and a lot of that has to do with owners enforcing good rules of play for the pack of dogs. The facility is very nice and a lot of thought went into it, but it's the owners and adults that need to set an example to make...
Read moreOn Monday, May 15th, approximately 7:30 am, my young greyhound cross was viciously attacked by another dog at the park, who arrived roughly thirty minutes after I did. The dog’s name is Betty White and she is “dog selective,” meaning she identifies certain targets to attack—so not every dog— in this case young dogs and/or puppies. I have spoken to Animal Control about the incident and the dog. I caution other dog owner’s to be extremely careful when entering the park, but also watchful for a small black dog with tan points and pointy ears that might enter after you. She attacked my dog again a second time, fifteen minutes later, while he was on a leash at my feet. This prompted the owner to leave the park at this time. I hope sharing my experience helps prevent further...
Read moreThe park itself is fine. It's nice to have in the city; it's just large enough so that the dogs can socialize and play freely; and it has decent amenities like free water, etc. But in this case, beware of dog owners, not dogs. This park is routinely littered with trash and dog excrement that owners with no sense of shame leave behind. The owners all perch themselves down and bury themselves in their iPhones, scrolling away while their dogs defecate everywhere, hump other dogs, and otherwise do things an owner should be keen to correct. Nowadays, owning a dog for these people is more about Instagramability than companionship and respect. Just know that if you venture into this park, you should check your shoes before walking into...
