We live locally and were sneaking away for one night to pamper ourselves and make something feel normal in the midst of this pandemic. I splurged to get us a great room. Even called and talked to a gentleman at the front desk to select a room. We went with one of their suites that had a deck and he would request a lake view for us. The cost was $499. So, we had great expectations. Have had dinner at the hotel before, but never seen the rooms. When we checked in we were very disappointed to learn the room did not have a deck and did not have a lake view. I was not a happy woman and made that clear. The clerk said she only worked weekends and needed to get the manager to help us as it appeared he did not book the room he thought he did for us. And, now all the rooms with decks were full. So, after a few minutes the manager came up and helped us. She kept referencing the room I booked (like I selected it online) and I kept correcting her and saying the room that her employee booked for me. She eventually realized in the notes that he thought he had booked the balcony type of room I was referencing and he had made the mistake. However, they were now all full. So, she had a Wayzata suite that had a large window overlooking the lake that was actually $50 less and that was the closest option at the time. We agreed. I then asked if she was going to give us some credit for the error and she responded by saying "I was going to offer you free breakfast and late checkout" with a bit of attitude. So it ended up being $30 food credit and late checkout. I am not really sure that there would have been any compensation if I had not asked, and I don't think that is aligned with the brand they are promoting. We then went up to the room and it was nice. The view down the street was beautiful. We moved chairs up to the window later and watched the sun set. The area is great. We live nearby and have been there many times, but when you are staying in a hotel it feels like a vacation and gives you a different perspective. We enjoyed ourselves walking around the town and got our exercise in. We also ordered room service from 925 restaurant and that was great. Unfortunately the room had details that just didn't fit with the price tag: the toilet paper holder bar kept coming out, hitting the floor and the toilet paper would roll across the room. The shower pressure was below average. And, the cool design of having two flat screen tv's back to back with a glass divider between them seemed to be a great design element - until you try to turn off one tv and the other goes on, and vice versa, and vice versa, and vice versa. I finally shot the remote at the ceiling and both of them went off. When we checked out in the morning they had not changed the charge for the room and had still charged us for the more expensive room. But the lady at the front desk quickly corrected it. Unfortunate experience when the escape meant so much. The devil is in the details. I increased the rating from a 1 to a 2 because of the awesome food and service we received in the restaurant.

First trip to Minnesota and we loved Wayzata and Hotel Landing. Also enjoyed day trips into Excelsior, Stillwater and Minneapolis. Rented boats from Eric at Tonka Boat Rentals, enjoyed restaurants like CoV, 6Smith, Gianni’s Steakhouse, Coalition and 925. Also caught a Twins game on our visit. This is a wonderful hotel and very convenient. Parking is easy but the elevators are a little confusing. Staff is very friendly and would highly recommend this hotel. The day we were leaving they were replacing all of the beds in the hotel. The hotel is across from the lake so you only have Lakeview from upper floors but it is still a wonderful hotel and great location.

Great place to hold a work training. Beautiful large work room on the second floor, that delivers lunch from the restaurant in the lobby. Great ambiance, and background music in the common spaces. Free, plentiful and convenient parking is available in the parking garage connected to the hotel.

My daughter and son-in-law had their wedding reception at The Landing 2 months ago. I wasn’t going to write a review, but after this long it is still bothering me, so I feel I must follow my heart. The facility was beautiful for a wedding. The caterers and the wedding planning staff were great during the planning process. The food was delicious! However, this is where the positives end. We did not find out until after the hosted bar ended that the remainder of the evening was a cash bar. I always thought “cash bar” meant that the wedding guests were just required to pay for their drinks…not that they literally needed “CASH” only to buy the extremely over-priced drinks. This was very frustrating to many guests, and they ended up leaving early because of it. Then around 8 PM the music and dancing started. It was shortly after an hour after that the Wayzata police showed up as there were noise complaints from residents across the street. In my opinion, The Landing should not be able to rent out their facility for anything with a music venue as we were told “this happens all the time”. We didn’t appreciate it happening to our daughter and son-in-law, and on our dime. It is extremely disconcerting to have police officers walking around your wedding reception…this happened twice in the evening. It is now midnight, and we were told that everyone needed to leave the reception area as it was being locked up. The hotel bar was already closed so the wedding party had nowhere else to go, so they decided to move to the Presidential Suite where the bride and groom were staying. They had just gotten there when they received a nasty call from the front desk that they were being too loud- as defined by a disgruntled non-wedding guest from across the hall. My room was just down the hall, and the only thing I heard was some appropriate wedding laughter in the hallway as they made their way to the Suite. This lasted about 3 minutes. Subsequently, they were not being loud, and the music was on very low. However, the front desk complained twice more about the noise and started becoming very rude about it -even threatening to “kick them out”. This begs the question of if we rented a block of rooms for our wedding guests- why was there a non-guest put right across the hall? He should not have been there in the first place and the front desk should have offered to move him. I think we paid a lot more to be at the hotel for the evening than he did. The wedding party attempted to remedy the situation calmly and respectfully but were met with complete resistance and annoyed and unprofessional front desk staff. After about 30 minutes of this, everyone went to their own rooms and the bride and groom were left sitting quietly on the couch looking very dejected and disappointed in how “their day” ended. You won Landing- but look at what you did. In summary, the entire reception was tainted by all of these events, and we will never return to The Landing again as this has left a very “bad taste in our mouths”. We certainly didn’t get our money’s worth and would not recommend anyone having an evening party/reception there with any music/dancing…unless you are a glutton...

I booked a junior suite through my credit card companies reward program about two weeks in advance of my stay as a birthday celebration for my Fiancé. I received a confirmation email, and paid the $370 worth of points for the room. Upon arriving for our stay the front desk claimed that there was no record of my reservation, and was very questioning and did not believe me (almost accusing me of faking the reservation/thought I was trying to con the hotel which was very embarrassing/ruined the fun vacation type mood my fiancé and I were in). I then provided the confirmation email, number, etc. and was still met with the response that there is no record of my booking details and skepticism from the staff. Luckily there was one junior sweet left and the front desk told me they would book that remaining room for us and that they would work with their manager to figure out what happened and that we could work through the details in the morning when we check out. I woke up in the morning to an alert from my bank that my credit card was charged for the full price of the room. Upon going to checkout I was once again met with skepticism and was told to "work it out with my bank" and that there was "nothing the hotel could do". They didn't even try to figure out what happened, they just acted like my original reservation never existed. I subsequently have worked it out with my bank, in which a customer service representative from my bank literally called the front desk and within a 2 min phone call the front desk admitted that they were in fact paid by my bank for the original reservation and had charged me for the room twice. We were very excited to stay at this hotel as we are from the area and love Downtown Wayzata. However the Hotel staff was objectively rude to me as a customer (in front of my fiancé and the rest of the customers in the lobby) and left us with the feeling that we were not welcome at the hotel. All the hotel would have had to do was call my bank and they would have given them the payment confirmation number and everything would have been worked out there without even involving me again (as was evidenced by a customer service rep from the bank clearing everything up with the front desk in a 2 min phone call). Overall, the room was ok (there was a high pitched noise being caused by the bathroom fan that we could not get to shutoff) and the hotel bar/restaurant was great. However, the customer service is something I would expect out of a 2 star hotel not a 4 or 5 star experience (which I was expecting based off of the price of the hotel). I would expect a hotel that charges these prices would put the customer first and to work everything out without stating that there is "Nothing we can do". I paid for a service and spent a lot of money at the hotel restaurant and bar, only to be treated like I was lying to the hotel and like I didn't belong...
