Sushi Fix — Restaurant in Wayzata

First off- SUSHI FIX has been the ONLY PLACE I have GIVIN a 5☆ review in a very long time! But with that said.. we Had a really Great Sushi and a certified A5 Wagyu steak Dinner here with the wifey for her Birthday! Spent over $300 on just us 2 -But worth every penny!. The sushi chef who had made our rolls did a wonderful job... it was made with passion regardless of who there serving. And the FISH...yes the fish was probably by far some of the best and freshest tasting fish I have been served from any sushi place- it just melts on your mouth as soon as you bite into it... as i told the wife to compare- it'll be and feel as if you're biting into avocado!! That says a lot about the fish. Besides that, all the ingredients was well balanced and they were rolled nice and tight and the fish that was topped on was cut nice and thick and that really made a big difference at balancing flavors- setting them far apart from other fake and wannabe high-end sushi places.(like Mizu's and Kobe

And for the A5 Wagyu? It was pretty good. Nice Pink and Nicely marbleized. Flavoring was ok on the thicker cut- could probably use some type of optional sauce but the thinly sliced cut was pretty good and made up for most of the wagyu. texture- was pretty good but my wife and I personally felt that it would have been great or even better if it was cooked just tab bit more closer to medium rear- just so that for the thicker cuts the fats can fully render to help with having the wagyu melt in your mouth.

My wife doesn't like seafood so it has been a struggle to find some great tasting none seafood or vegetarian type rolls. And so we did try there vegetarian roll... and it sure took me by surprise.. the Vegetarian Roll was also great I actually enjoy a roll that doesn't have seafood.- tasted better then alot of special rolls that i had came across from other places. The Vegetarian Roll here probably tasted better then everything in Mizu's menu...-#honesty not hate

But all in all our main courses was great. And our experience and time here had been a great one. We'll MOST DEFINITELY come back to SUSHI FIX!!!

(on a side note before even puting our orders in- me being me and being curious i did ask about the certification on the certified A5 wayu and the guy who also made our sushi Rolls did not hesitate to offer and show me what's available plus everything from location and lineage documents to shipping/packaging labels.

Beware. DO NOT go to this place if you actually want to eat.

I made the big mistake of not reading reviews and was content with the 4.5 overall rating and the convenient location. Now that I read the reviews the only consolation is that at least I know the appalling treatment we got wasn’t bc of racism.

I took my kids there as part of our special night out before a show. We waited a few minutes before a server actually stopped at our table. The first thing I said was that we had to make it to a show and to let us know if any of the items we ordered would take too long. I started trying to order and asked two questions about the menu, the server acted irritated, stated that we were not ready to order, and proceeded to turn around to take the order from the couple at the next table, who had arrived after us and also took a while to figure out what they wanted. One of the questions I asked was if the unagi sauce had fish, bc my kid is a vegetarian. The server said he didn’t know 😂 and didn’t even offer to ask. The poor man had better things to do than get us food.

But that’s not all.

We placed our order and excitedly waited for what looked like really good rolls. And we waited. And waited. And waited. For almost 30 minutes. Flagged our server and asked for the status of our food. He once again was irritated and said he didn’t know. So I said he should ask at the sushi bar. He begrudgingly walked the 10 steps over to check. And then went past our table to do something else and a couple of minutes later came to tell us we were 2nd in line. Ha!! Mind you, the place was mostly empty when we walked in and only about half full by the time we left. Our good friend was again annoyed with me because I said we couldn’t wait.

My two hangry kids and I picked up and left. With 40 minutes left to eat dinner and get to the theater, we ended up getting deli food from the supermarket and eating in the car. Thanks for the unforgettable...

Sushi Fix has been our go-to sushi spot for many years. Unfortunately, the service during our last two visits was less than ideal and we will be going elsewhere moving forward. We had the same server on both occasions and he was very slow, dismissive, and unfriendly. Our food was received out of order (apps before drinks). Menus taken away before we placed orders for main sushi rolls. He never gave eye contact and always walked away before we could request anything else. We had to defer to other servers on multiple occasions for simple requests, including asking to have our menus back and drink refills. Once our service began to exceed 2 hours, we ended up cancelling our final order for another round of drinks and dessert. He never checked-in on us or provided updates on the delay. I wish we knew his name, so the problem could be addressed directly. He’s never bothered to introduce himself both times. I believe he is also the bartender, which understandably makes him quite busy, but does not warrant treatment that spoils our dining experience. If anything, it’s inefficient to preemptively take away our menus and not place our orders in a timely matter. After years of loving this place, we now feel there are better experiences elsewhere. It’s a shame because the fish is always fantastic and rest of the staff is great. We’d just rather not have to deal with this...
