This is a long, but interesting story...I have never had an experience like this before. Aman is probably a decent GM, but I wouldn't know. After booking directly with the front desk the night before, we were denied our 2-room, 3-night reservation whilst many were trying to evacuate. We traveled from our costal home to this hotel. We booked the previous day to hunker-down and decide where to go from there. Upon arrival, we waited approximately 15 minutes (the phone kept ringing, and another potential patron actually came in and left during this time) for a front desk employee to arrive. I saw the hotel business card on the counter. It had a cell phone number for Aman. I gave it to my friend to make the call. She explained the situation, and the GM informed me that she was probably attending to customers, which is completely understandable, and he would give her a call. About that time, a tall brunette came from the back room hanging up her phone. I assumed that Aman had spoken to her. She apologized, and cordially began to check us in. I was sympathetic, and told her I understand if they are busy. She told me they only had 6 rooms left, and were indeed, very busy. I informed her that we have pets, as that is usually an extra charge. She told us that they are out of pet-friendly rooms; however, that had been a problem earlier in the evening and they would make an exception due to the fact that it was previously booked (no one ever asked while booking). She proceeded to print the contracts for me to sign. At that time, she received a call on her cell phone. Apparently, it was Aman calling to find out why customers were waiting at the front desk. A very hostile, and awkward conversation ensued (with other customers waiting, at this point). From the end of the front desk employee: "That's impossible!"..."Check the cameras; It couldn't have been more than 5 minutes!"..."I made coffee, then went back to fold towels!"..."I don't want you doubting my integrity!" The conversation ended. I am still standing there feeling awkward. We talked for a moment about how that was her boss, then I think she had an epiphany. "You just spoke to Aman?" "Yes". "I am just going to give him a call back to check on this pet policy". ...I wait another 5 minutes (meanwhile another front desk person comes in who cannot figure out her password...customers are building up). This person then held a very different conversation. She basically lied about the legality of assigning pets to a "non-pet" room. She ensured the GM that the room could be reserved due to the hurricane, and we were tured away coldly with a refund and no room. The bottom line is that if Aman is really a good GM, this person will not have much of a future at this hotel. She begged for her integrity not to be questioned while blatently lying. This hotel turned away people trying to evacuate a category 5 hurricane due to a pet policy, which has been frowned upon in Texas. We should treat each other with respect and not act like children. Aman, check...
Read moreThis might not be the fanciest hotel around, but the service and pool are worth it. I went through a third party site looking for a hotel that would fit my family of 7. The site has the Econo Lodge reasonably priced and said it was double room with double beds; so I'm thinking "double room, double beds that sleeps 8, must be a suite." We got to the hotel around 10:30 at night, first thing I noticed is the third part site changed the occupants from 2 adults/5 children to just 2 adults. When we got to the room it was a single room with two double sized beds. NO WAY this is sleeping 7 without kids sleeping on the floor. I called the third party site and told them what was going on and they said they'd have to call the hotel to find out about the room. And this is where our hero Heather comes in to play. She's heard me talking/ yelling at the supervisor of the third party site, and when they call she tells them there's no way that's an 8 sleeper room. The site argued with her and still said they wouldn't do anything to get a room to fit my whole family. So what does Heather do? After calling other hotels in the area, while I'm arguing on the phone, she makes it so we can stay at the Econo Lodge with adjoining rooms. This was all happening at 11:30 at night and we were exhausted from traveling all day. The rooms were cozy, I'll be honest there's some cracks and scratches; but the rooms are clean. The pool was nice and warm, we went over memorial day weekend so the sun was nice and hot. I can honestly say that Heather saved our vacation. Because of her we were able to relax and have a great time and I think the whole family made a new friend. 10/10...
Read moreThis hotel is filthy and dilapidated. In the lobby: The rugs were soiled and worn out. The glass doors and windows were covered in fingerprints and greasy smears(the same ones day after day). The floor of the lobby and elevator were covered in dirt, pieces of food and bits of trash(also recognizably the same trash day after day). The leather on the chairs was torn and peeling. All the tables in the lobby and where the food was being served were dirty and had food on them. The woman who was "serving" the breakfast was sitting with her feet propped up in a chair with her kid and they were watching videos on her phone, just letting the mess pile up. In our room: the sink was dirty and crusty around the faucet, it very obviously had not been cleaned between guests. The floor of the bathroom had several large clumps of hair near the tub and around the toilet that were there the moment we walked in so definitely not ours. The microwave was dirty and smelled. The floor of the bedroom was sticky and made you feel like your feet/socks were dirty just from walking around in the room. We also booked a nonsmoking room and it was quite apparent that this room had been used as a smoking room as it imprinted a stale smoke smell on our clothes and belongings. I understand that things age with use but the utter lack of attention to cleanliness in this hotel as a whole is inexcusable. It was apparent that cleaning isn't a priority, nor had it been in a very long time. I can say with certainty that I will never stay here again and will be sure to post reviews on travel sites warning...
