Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton West Bend — Hotel in West Bend

We had planned to spend a night here with our dog. After checking in, we headed up to our room (thankfully, without our dog) because the hallway floors were absolutely filthy and littered with trash. They clearly had not been vacuumed in quite some time. Our dog could very easily have gotten something stuck in her paw or tired to eat something off of the floor. When we went into the room, the bathroom smelled incredibly strongly of chlorine—it smelled like going into the pool. We checked the other floor to see if the hallways were any cleaner, and they were not, so we realized we could not safely spend the night here with our dog. When I went to tell the woman at the front desk that we could not stay somewhere with absolutely filthy hallways, not to mention the chlorine smell in the bathroom, she did not apologize. She became very defensive and said that no one had ever complained about the lack of cleanliness. We were still charged for merely looking into a guest room for less than five minutes before leaving. Truly a horrible experience and we were left scrambling to find somewhere else to stay the night.

This was an out of town stay overnight for a tournament. We have never been to this location before so it was a chance choice. Great choice it was. The front desk attendant was friendly and check in was a breeze. The room was spotless, very spacious and comfortable. I think I said it was so nice like 5-6 times. We have stayed at plenty of high-end hotels that didn't have their rooms as clean as this. The pool room was clean as well. A little strong odor of chlorine but that's an inside pool issue. The sleep was good. I prefer a firm mattress and this one was very nice. The shower was good. Clean towels and clean floors. The breakfast area was clean and had a decent choice for hot or cold bfast. I will stay here again if I'm ever back...

Nice location. Nice exterior and interior. Desk staff was pleasant. Complementary breakfast was fair. Wish their sausage gravy had some sausage flavor. No comfortable easy chair in lobby area. Room chair for a double queen room was 1 office chair. Why isn’t there a comfortable chair to sit in for travelers? Or more room seating? Bed was in my travel’s uncomfortable grouping. As a side sleeper it was terrible. Bed linens were those selected by their corporate MBA consultants. Definitely undersized for queen mattress use. Would be nice on a full sized mattress. But most likely saved them $$ by using less fabric material. So with seating and beds assessments, I would not nor could not recommend this place. Not typical...
