Very disappointing and frustrating. This hotel has little maintenance or cleaning, and it's not quiet. In our room, the carpet felt strangely sticky, as though it had recently been wet. (I've since found multiple other reviews noting the carpet being dirty.) The bathroom door was missing a towel hook; only the mounting bracket remained. Thankfully, our bathroom wasn't as bad as others' reviews (I saw no mold/mildew), but it didn't feel clean, as the tub/shower caulk was in poor shape, and the metal light fixtures are rusting, because the ventilation is poor. The couch cushions in the living area were stained, and one had a four-inch long hole, which was easily seen when we entered the room. Why didn't housekeeping remove and replace the cushion? Even more puzzling, one of the couch's legs had been replaced with an unfinished 4"x4" block. (I saw another comment where a reviewer said his room had a broken couch leg.) The fridge desperately needed to be defrosted, as an ice block occupied about one quarter of its volume (I found another reviewer had this issue). Again, attention is clearly not paid to cleanliness and maintenance at this hotel. It was not quiet in the room; it sounded like a cartoon character stomping when the people in the room above ours walked anywhere--in spite of the fact that I wore earplugs and had the fan on when trying to sleep. (I also saw another reviewer had this issue. Something seemed wrong with the floor/ceiling; I've never stayed at a hotel where the ceiling made so much noise, seemingly amplifying it. It was so bad that one of the metal light fixtures in our room rattled whenever someone in the room above ours walked to the bathroom. At check in, the garbage outside the front door was brimming. The front desk agent mumbled a lot, and was hard to understand. She first told us that there were no two-bed rooms available (though I'd reserved one). Then, after we politely said we'd reserved one, and asked if she would upgrade us if one wasn't available (no), she then suddenly found a room with two beds; that seemed odd. DoubleTree is supposed to be one of Hilton's upscale brands. This property does not live up to that brand or classification. On a weekend getaway, the hotel should be a welcome respite--particularly after an eight-hour trip. I've stayed in several lesser-tier hotels when traveling for work or personal trips that were much better kept and quieter. Even before the first night of two was over, I wished we'd booked elsewhere. It was $460+ at this hotel for two nights of frustration. But, we were told it was sold out. I've seen several reviews (some a year or two old) where management replied to reviewers and pledged in boilerplate statements to take reviewers' comments to heart. The hotel's staff would do well to take action by cleaning and repairing things. Under no circumstances--not even for free--would we stay here again.

I have always enjoyed Hilton properties and an currently a Silver member. That said, this property appears to be struggling with staffing along with many other local businesses. The building is relatively new and the daytime staff is friendly and service oriented. I was quite disappointed with the late night staffing of the front desk Friday night though and the responsiveness on a reported spill to clean up. When we got back to the hotel Friday night around midnight and entered through the front door, my wife said "well, hello there" to the guy at the front desk. Not only did he not say anything in response, his facial expression didn't change a bit as he watched us walk past. This is not the kind of person you want as the first impression when you walk into a service organization. I reported a spilled coffee / coke (wasn't sure which) on the tile outside the 3rd floor elevator doors to the front desk Friday night. She took a note, but it wasn't cleaned up until Sunday morning. Luckily, it was already dried up, so wasn't a slip hazard while it waited to be cleaned. Thirdly, my wife and I along with two other small groups were in the bar area Saturday night for a night cap and after ordering our first round (at 9:26pm) - we were informed that last call was at 9:30. Really!?!? I have to assume all of these things are related to staffing challenges given the number of other businesses in the area with restricted hours due to the inability to hire staff. It is really sad to see the lack of people willing to work and the resulting decline in customer service.

Hotel is in a great location with plenty of restaurants close by. We walked in the room and it looked as if it had not been cleaned very well. There was actually a kids sticker on the wall next to the door see picture. My wife went to take a shower and there were only a hand towel and a washcloth in the bathroom. Called down to the front desk and told her there were no shower towels in the room. The clerk says what do you mean you have no towels? My wife explained situation and clerk says well what size are the towels you have as if we dont know what body towels look like? Seriously just send some towels. Finally got the towels. Went out to eat and brought leftovers back to put in fridge. To our surprise there was already food left from last guest in fridge. Told the girl about it all when we checked out. She said oh, do you want your receipt. The only positive is they serve Starbucks coffee in lobby. Would not recommend. With all the hotel options in Fargo they need to step up their game.

I really wanted to give this place a 1 star, but since the morning breakfast staff has been so good to me I gave them 2. ( her name is Tamara very nice and attentive! Remembered my drink everyday, she was amazing. Also Shawn who appeared to be a cleaner of some sort was also amazing, always smiled and said hello, and brought me a cookie every day. These 2 are the reasons you got any stars at all. ) I am here for 2 weeks for a work trip, I'm from Ohio, and the rooms here are awful!! In my first room the tv did not work in the bed room, no big deal, but then you add the couch has broken legs and tilts sideways with stains all over it, the bathtub did not drain after my shower. Dried what looks like pizza sauce on the counters. The next morning I did ask for a new room as I have an extended stay and could not stay in this room. The 2nd room was just as bad except the t.v. worked. All the linens are stained, bed sheets, towels wash cloths.... horrible. There were cup marks on the counters so that tells me they were not wiped off, there is all kinds of stuff on the walls of the bathrooms, just gross. I literally had to clean the room before i unpacked. So I just went and bought something to sleep on, so needless to say I haven't slept too good. The front desk people are not very kind, I have had several packages delivered due setting up a new worksite here, and they can never "find my packages", this only happened once I complained about my room. I would not stay here again! I would be better off at a side of...
