My boyfriend and I have been excited to try this place, and we went on Sunday afternoon for an early dinner. He tried the pulled pork mac and cheese, and I tried the sweet thang mac and cheese. We also got a side of creamed corn. We both agreed that the mac and cheese was luke-warm. I considered asking them to warm it up for me, but decided against it. There was a seemingly stressed out woman behind the counter and I didn't want to bother anyone with my request. My boyfriend like the flavor of the pulled pork and BBQ sauce on his mac and cheese. I enjoyed the candied jalapenos and bacon on mine. I did not like the chicken - my guess is that it was frozen from a bag. Which isn't a big deal, just not my thing. The creamed corn was not good, and was also lukewarm. For some reason, I wasn't a very big fan of the cheese sauce. It had an off flavor - maybe it needed salt? We both agreed that the portions were large - but that it was very expensive. We paid $38 and some change for 2 mac and cheese entree's, a side of creamed corn, and two soda fountain drinks. I do like supporting local, so I can overlook the price a little bit, but I would rather spend $40 on local food elsewhere. Lastly, the ambiance was pretty bad. It's dead quiet for the most part, they need to play some music or at least turn the sound on the TV's. Plenty of teenagers working here - that's okay, they were all friendly. I will say that the floors and tables were clean - that was a good sign. My boyfriend and I will eat here again in a few months when it is more...
Read moreRestaurant very clean and orderly. Menu board is a bit overwhelming but staff was patient and gave us plenty of time to make our choices. Prices seemed reasonable based on the description of the menu board but not compared to what actually arrived at our table. My burger was supposed to be a BBQ Mac burger, burger between two pieces of Texas toast with Mac & cheese, pulled pork and crispy grilled onions with a side of ripple chips and french onion dip. My meal arrived in a timely manner and looked delicious, however looks were deceiving. I would have to say this was the most tasteless burger I have ever encountered. The mac and cheese was over cooked, mushy and flavorless, what little pulled pork that was on the burger was dry and not much flavor, there were no crispy grilled onions on my burger to my knowledge, the ripple chips were almost non-existent and what little pieces of chips that were on my plate were not big enough to even dip in the French onion dip. My wife's burger was even more disappointing, was supposed to come with Nacho Cheese Doritos but didn't. We left feeling completely disappointed and still hungry. I gave 2 stars because the restaurant was very clean and staff was friendly. Food does not deserve a star at all. Would not eat...
Read moreAfter seeing a Facebook post of a morning TV live cooking event from my 1st cousin which featured her son cooking for the hosts, I had to try this place. Anything that combines bbq meat and cheese has got to be good...
The building and atmosphere were great...modern, clean, vibrant - with a little country music playing in the background. You order at the counter, then take a number and they deliver it to your table. I loved the presentation - a heavy cast iron skillet preloaded with a real metal fork...ready to be enjoyed.
Per her son Parker's recommendation, I ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese with Carolina Reaper cheese added - the 'Parker Special'. Boy was it delicious - moist, flavorful pulled pork, tangy bbq sauce, creamy cheese...and a little bite from the Carolina Reaper cheese! I highly recommend this restaurant and this dish and can't wait to return to try some other options.
