I have never written a poor review of holiday and am saddened to do so now. I made a last minute reservation at this location so that my son and I could visit a local university. I was not happy with the location of this hotel as it did not feel safe, especially with the parking options and the surrounding area. Upon checking in the girl at the counter stated that I eligible for an upgraded room as I am a platinum elite member. I was then told that while the hotel had many rooms available (for upgrading to), that i would not be able to have an upgrade because she did not know how to change my room in the computer. The girl stated that she would have the manger credit me some extra priority club points instead (which i never received). I was given a standard room, which upon entering I found that over half of the lights did not work, the mini fridge was extremely loud, and trash was still in the room from the previous guest. I explained this to the girl at the desk and was given a different standard room (she could now amazingly change rooms, but still did not upgrade us). The new room looked over a construction/warehouse lot. When asked about suggestions for dinner, the girl from the counter (who was now sitting in the dinning area watching television) stated that she does not eat in this area and would not recommend anything. She seemed rather annoyed to have been distracted from her show. After coming back from having dinner, I found that the shower had no water pressure and that the remote did not work for the T.V. At this point my son and I were so disappointed and frustrated with the facilities and even more so with the girl on staff that we did not bother to mention it. In the morning the alarm clock did not work, but thankfully we set a backup alarm on my phone. If it is important to your stay, it is worth mentioning that the fitness room is tiny and lacks equipment and that the whirlpool was filthy and not open. I wish we had stayed elsewhere. In fact we were so uncomfortable we considered leaving and finding a different hotel to stay at, but it was late and we did not want to pay for another location. The only positive thing I can say was that the women who handled breakfast in the morning was extremely professional and friendly. I would not recommend this hotel, location, or...

As mentioned in previous reviews the Holiday Inn is located in an industrial area. There are fast food and gas stations within a short driving distance. Though walkable I wouldn’t. It had a sketchy vibe.
The underground parking did not feel safe as it was not lit at all. Only on the morning the lights were on. It was still dim. There was trash and debris that was never swept up in our three day, two night stay which also added to the unsettled feeling. Better/brighter garage and surface parking lighting would be appreciated.
The pros was that the room was up to Holiday Inn standards in regards to comfort and cleanliness. The negatives was that the air conditioning was loud. I would wake up every time it would turn on and off. The shower head made an annoying squeal when on. The side table clock was not set to right time. It was off by several hours. I know it’s not much to reset on my own but it’s these small details I want to fiddle with when I’m on the road.
Lastly on the day of our checkout which is at 10:00am housekeeping just tapped on the door and let themselves in at 9:00am without announcing themself. I had the “do not disturb sign” hanging on the outer door. I was packing up at the time and was surprised on their abrupt entrance. Adding to the fact it was a questionable area I thought I was going to be invaded.
I’ve been staying at IHG locations exclusively as a Gold member for the last two years so I’ve gotten a fair idea on standards. This West Sacramento location has a lot potential to be great due to its proximity to Sacramento and Davis. Better lighting in the parking garage and outdoor parking spaces will give guests a better reassurance of feeling safe. Sweep up the exterior grounds to keep it looking tidy. Advise housekeeping to be mindful of guests’ privacy. Pay attention to the details in the room.
I’ll reconsider staying in this location in the future. I’m in the Davis/Sacramento area about 5 times a year.
Thank you for the hospitality...
Read moreThe check-in process was a nightmare. We were traveling for business and sometimes we land slightly before a 3:00 check-in time. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 2:00, and kindly asked if there were any rooms available yet. The only verbal response we received was "Impossible." Nothing else. So we stood in the lobby and nothing was communicated to us when our rooms would be ready. 30 minutes later, we were able to check-in. There were only 3 of us, 3 separate rooms, and it look over 35 minutes just to get our room keys and check-in completed.
This area is basically a truck stop right on the highway. All you will hear all night is traffic.
4.. Expect multiple blood stains on your comforters and sheets.
At 11:00 at night, there will be drunk idiots running up and down the hallways, banging on doors and acting completely disorderly. After complaining to the front desk and giving the exact location of the individuals, I was told "we will talk to them" and watched out my door, and no one from the hotel ever came to assess the situation. As a woman staying alone, I felt utterly terrified for my safety.
Black mold in the bathrooms. Shower heads make a horrible, loud whistling noise.
Furniture in the room was shredded and probably had not been replaced in 30 years.
We were told that there would be no housekeeping throughout our stay, and our rooms were still entered.
Parking was impossible. Because it was basically a truck stop, there were 4-6 trucks parked there every night taking up 2-3 spots leaving next to no parking for guests.
The only positive aspect of our stay was the employee running the breakfast station was extremely kind and accommodating. All other staff members could not care less.
If you can afford to stay somewhere else and you care about your safety, I would most definitely consider choosing a...
