I called this a business trip from the menu choices, because AAU basketball is all about taking care of business. From the players to the parents, the sponsors to the coaches, I doubt anyone actually enjoys the grind of five hour drives, packed games on cramped courts, crowded parking to overpriced, stale concession food, etc. Any respite from that mess has to come from a relaxed hotel environment, with casual dress, flexible rules, and accommodating staff. On these fronts, Residence Inn Boston Westford clicked on all cylinders.||This is an older, relatively smaller Residence Inn, so the rooms are tighter, appliances dated, carpets probably needing replacement. But notwithstanding some complaints from 2021, we found this property to be spotless. We booked a two-bedroom suite, which opens to a living room with a fireplace (gas-fired), full kitchen with dishes, flatware, and basic cooking needs, paper towels, dish washing soap, and glassware. In short, a modest, but not cramped, furnished apartment meeting the needs of sleep deprived parents.||Arrival: assigned parking spaces for check-in. Front desk staff are uniformly helpful, friendly, wearing multiple hats (from check-in to concierge to town crier). There's a pool; a basketball/general purpose court outdoors, along with a cozy courtyard featuring a built-in gas grill for guests' use should you have time to barbecue in your off hours. There's a modest dining room for the free breakfast users with lounge space as part of the open floor plan. They have a kiosk behind the front desk for snacks, candy, Ben and Jerry's, and sundries; prices comparable to Wawa. Front parking lot reserves about 10 spaces with electric charges installed.||Dining room staff are ever-present, open to suggestion, and responsive to the most arcane requests (I'm not used to small events having oat milk, soy, fat free, 2%, and lactose free milk on display.) Housekeeping helpers work hard but will only clean your room every third day absent a specific need. They are on the move daily, so if you need towels, walk down the hall instead of complaining to the front desk.||Each floor has a full laundry room ($3/wash and $3/45-min. dry cycle). They keep quarters at the front desk. We shared the hotel with a girls' dance competition contingent, so availability of laundry was critical for every group.||I spoke to the front desk manager, Star, during my check out, who was just as gracious in the process as the young man who checked us in. I think she appreciated my comments prior to departure and suggested I write a review. I suspect this is more than she had in mind, but these folks were...
Read moreI recently stayed for one week in a Queen 1 bedroom and it was fabulous. The entire hotel staff was lovely, so friendly and customer service focused and this makes all the difference! Overall, it was a generous sized space and I enjoyed having a full couch, overlooking the back woods on the property with television also within easy viewing, full kitchen including large refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, electric cooktop and coffee maker, with cookware, cutlery etc. There was a full laundry room that I did not use. It’s so rare to find all of these amenities available in a hotel space of this price. The room also had several lamps of various sizes providing generous warm lighting, excellent quality linens and a very comfortable bed, located in a separate space from the main living area, with a door. The bathroom was nicely designed, excellent lighting for make up application and wall to wall mirror, sink separate from shower and toilet. The room was very quiet, I had a next door neighbor, but only heard the person coming and going from the front door. So many hotels have paper thin walls and thankfully this was not the case. It was nice to have a take away breakfast available at the front desk until I could receive my grocery delivery. Netflix, Showtime and other internet TV services were available, along with cable, and there was a second TV in the bedroom. Uber Eats and Door Dash offered many delivery choices and grocery delivery is available through Instacart or Amazon/Whole Foods. The hotel is located near two grocery stores, various retail, and several restaurants, but the property sits back far enough from the main road to be very quiet as a whole. I highly recommend Residence Inn Westford to anyone, staying...
Read moreI think overall, it was a pleasant stay! We thought the 1 bedroom suite was very well-appointed with modern, comfortable furnishings, it had a well-equipped full kitchen, and I was pretty impressed by the Paul Mitchell brand toiletries in the bathroom! The bed was phenomenally comfortable!! There were a few things that did keep me from giving a 10 overall.
Although it was much appreciated and unexpected that the front desk called us to see if we were enjoying our room, I had barely arrived and hadn't had a chance to look around yet. By the time we did get more comfortable and needed help to operate our TV, it would have been great if the associate had actually sent someone to help like she said she would. No one ever came. The TV remained a huge frustration throughout our stay. Directions by the TV's should explain how to use the remotes, which of the 2 remotes should be used, how to navigate the TV once you do by luck alone, actually get it to turn on!
When it came time to help our son into bed, we pulled out the sofa bed only to find large blood stains in the center of the mattress! Obviously, this was another patrons blood (VERY UNSANITARY! Maybe even a health violation?) so we made his bed on top of the sofa cushions as a last resort. Otherwise, he would've had to sleep on the floor. If I had wanted him to do that, we'd have slept at my sister's house for free!
The room temperature was very challenging to regulate. It was either freezing or so hot we were sweating! No matter what temp we put the thermostat on, we couldn't find that happy medium.
My husband and I both agree that we would stay here again (we got a great rate!), but we would definitely ask to inspect the room before finalizing...
