I've stayed in some low class places, but this one was definitely the worst. We've been on the road for over two weeks, and the apartment we were expecting here has been delayed in being ready. Anyway, we are very tired, and I was looking forward to a little place to rest with my husband and 3 yr old. The entryway was dark coming in, but the lady seemed friendly enough. She told us that the room we had booked online (King with a sofa bed) wasn't available, but she could get us one king. When we walked into the room we were hit with an almost solid stench of stale urine. The room had obviously not been cleaned. We tried to open the window to no avail. There were no tables in the room, so the lamps and phone were either on the floor or the bed.
After about 2 minutes of the smell, we went back to the front and asked politely to be switched to another room. She told us the next room she could get us would be a single queen. We would take anything over that stench. We went to our new room, which, at first smell, seemed ok. After we put away our "essentials" kitchen set (complete with no forks), I soon found the floor had obviously not been swept in a while, the carpet had not been vacuumed in a long time, and the kitchenette counter was covered in sticky spots and rings.
I turned to my daughter who had found a single thick black hair on the floor and held it up to me. I know that is something easily missed, so I just threw it away and went back to trying to make the room resemble something close to cleanliness. As I was wiping down the counter, my daughter ran over to me excitedly saying, "Mommy! I found more hair!" I turned to find her holding a huge glob of tangled hair in her tiny hand! I was more than a little disgusted.
After this incident, I decided to more thoroughly inspect the room. I found mold in the fridge, more hair and heaven knows what in the bath and shower curtain, and dirt and hair in the sheets of the bed.
Call me crazy, but even when I pay a low price for something, I expect it to be clean! We gave up our room at the Chicago Club down the street because we thought having a kitchenette would be better than a pool... I'm seriously rethinking that decision. I would gladly pay more and give up a dirty kitchen for a pool, clean rooms, and a full...
Read moreI just came home from a 10 month deployment and I desperately needed some rest. I picked this hotel because it looked nice and it was placed in a respectable area close to my army unit. The staff wasnt well trained in the customer service area. Chrissy was "assisting" an older women and denied a few of her request and was not very helpful, so i helped her out instead. The manager on duty shouldn't hold that title because he was everything but that. He left the guest with no help as well. Even when she needed a fee items carried to her room because she was unable. (She was dropped off by a taxi and the driver carried her ONE box into the lobby.) The front desk was always left unattended because he had to take numerous smoke breaks. The hotel was very loud and I couldn't get a lot of rest unless the t.v. was playing for background noise purposes. The t.v. didnt work and when I called the front desk maintenance came to "assist." The guy looked at the cable cord and switched the t.v. on and off and looked my way and said, "it's not my fault, you have to talk to the manager" and he left the room. There was no hot water for 2 days and the blankets smelled like someone was laying in them after a long day at the gym. So i used my own sheets, pillow, and my laptop for background noise. My room was not accessible at all times. When I thought it was my key cards, I went to the front desk and switched them out. Come to find out it was the actual door handling unit. When the staff came up to reset the code, they did not know it. They informed me that maintenance changed the code and asked if I could wait down stairs. About an hr later the code was reset. I was very tired given the fact that I just came from a time zone where they are 9 hours ahead of central time. There was also a fire at the hotel and the alarm did not sound off like it should've. The only thing that woke me up was screaming people running out of the hotel. There was no direction and even the local police were confused as to what was going on. I ended my stay early and cancelled the rest of my reservation. I was struggling to give this hotel any stars at all. This place was not a great stay...
Read moreI made a reservation at ESA due to the mass power outage August 10th that swept through the region. I wanted a comfortable relaxing and peaceful experience with a reasonable hotel. Once I arrived to check in I encountered a rude CSR by the name of Victoria. I had to mentally prepare myself not to act outside of my norm of character. She was extremely rude. Told me the power effected the room locks so anytime I needed to leave out the room I would have to notify her. So I inquired why wasn’t this information relayed before I paid. She said I just informed you do you want me to cancel your room? I told her no need to cancel the room it’s no big deal but the point is that type of detailed infraction should’ve been shared before someone purchases a room with no other options due to a week long power outage. I then asked to see the room due to the bad reviews I read.Immediately she seemed irritated. She walks me to the room and it’s spotless..no smell and comfortably cool. So I go out to my car retrieve my items carrying a few groceries and tote bag of clothing/hygiene and came back to the front desk to ask to be let in my room. She then tells me with a attitude while sitting on the lobby floor painting the lower wall and on FT. I left the door propped open for you when I showed you the room.Again, why wouldn’t you inform me that Oh by the way I left the door open for you to enter on your way back into the building. If your miserable with your job/not a people person you should not be in customer service PERIOD. Her whole demeanor was unacceptable. It’s like I was a nuisance to her by checking into the hotel. How Does That Make Sense? Later that night I heard some voices arguing and a woman saying I will never return to this hotel again. This is unacceptable. I didn’t come here to be disrespected. She walked pass my room door and I looked out the peep hole and heard her say I can’t believe she cussed at me. So I wondered if Victoria attitude had escalated with another customer. However I enjoyed my room but the service was trash. This young lady either needs a training on customer service etiquette or needs to...
