Our family stayed here for 2 nights on 2/15/2024 and 2/16/2024, and we really enjoyed our stay. We had two rooms with 2 beds in each room. Our family prefers the Hilton brand, and we are Hilton honors members. The hotel is convenient to many nearby restaurants, shopping, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
The hotel is like 5-10 minutes from downtown Indiana. I recommend visiting Philadelphia street in town which has lots of restaurants and shops. We were visiting Indiana to see Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) for our daughter, who will be attending IUP in the Fall 2024 as a freshman. We wanted to see the campus again and the dorms and the surrounding area.
The hotel has a fitness center, business center, indoor swimming pool, and a hot breakfast for guests. The breakfast is served from 6-10am.
Here is what is offered for breakfast: ( the hot items like the eggs, sausage, etc change on a daily basis)
There is a nice breakfast area across from the front desk with many tables and seating for guests.
Eggs Sausage Potatoes Hot Oatmeal Make your own waffles Muffins, toast, pastry, and toast Hard boiled eggs Yogurt Cereal Apples and bananas Mixed fruit cups Orange, apple, water, and cranberry juice cocktail
The rooms are very comfortable and are clean. This is very important. Beds and pillows are very soft. Guests can easily adjust the temperature in the rooms with the thermostat. There is a flat screen television as well as a small microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom has a small hairdryer as well. There are body lotion and hand soap dispensers by the sink. There are shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers on the shower wall for guests. The shower pressure was good.
There are 3 floors with an elevator. The hotel looks like it was recently renovated. It seems to be very well maintained.
We just had one minor issue with our bathroom door in one of our two rooms. The door did not seem to be entirely level and there was a small gap at the top of the door and the door hit the floor when opening and closing and it took some effort to open and close the door. I did mention this to the front desk at checkout so they could have maintenance check on this. I am the type of person to say something so that the hotel is aware and so it can be addressed. It is the right thing to do.
There is free high speed wifi for guests. We had no issues connecting. You just need to enter your last name and room number to sign in for wifi access.
During our stay, it had snowed and the parking lot was plowed well. There were like 4-5 inches of snow on cars and trucks. We forgot a snow brush and ended up buying one at the nearby Walmart.
I also wanted to comment on the excellent level of service provided by employees at the front desk and in the breakfast area. We did not have interaction with housekeeping during our stay.
We will definitely be back as we will be visiting our daughter at IUP. I highly...
Read moreOver the years I've stayed in upwards of a hundred Hampton Inns. Maybe we caught it on a bad day, but this was one of the worst we've stayed in. I would have given it just one star, but the room was OK. I noticed that there haven't been very many Tripadvisor reviews here lately, so maybe the hotel has gone down (reviews in prior years have been generally good). I don't think I've ever been at a Hampton where occupancy was as low as this one---only 10 or so cars in the parking lot. Maybe a sign of issues.||The hotel is located on the south side of Indiana, and is a bit "out of the way", so it's nice and quiet. The lady at check-in the afternoon of our stay was friendly, and gave us a good recommendation for an excellent Thai restaurant. She was the only staff person who gave good vibes.||This appears to be an older Hampton, and our double queen room showed some age. Part of the window curtains were torn. Room lighting was not good. But otherwise it was OK. I went down to run on a treadmill the next morning. There were three treadmills. The first two i tried were not operable. Luckily, the third one worked. Then when I went to get a drink in the fitness room fountain, it didn't work either. When I reported all of this to a lady at the front desk, she seemed annoyed---no apology at all. ||The breakfast was just average at best for a Hampton. Then when we went to check out, there was no one at the desk---they (three people) were outside smoking. I had to go outside to get someone, and the response was an annoyed "can I help you?". When two men then came in to the front desk, the checkout process occurred without ONE word said to me. When I asked for water as an Honors member---not ONE word was spoken. No "how was your stay", nothing. The entire staff in the morning seemed to have an attitude of total indifference. As bad of an attitude as I've ever seen at a Hampton. What you might expect from a one-star motel. Very disappointing---one of just a few people issues we've eve had at a...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel in April 2024 and then again in September 2024. In April, the room was very nice, clean and smelled fresh. In September, we were in a room that smelled stale, the toilet didn't work unless you held down the handle the entire time, water pressure in the shower was terrible and the room felt old, not as clean as it could have been and just run-down. But the consistent thing between both visits was the front desk employee. He is a VERY poor representation of what customer service is about. He did not greet us, or anyone checking in before us, when we arrived. He does not ask anyone if they had a good stay when checking out. And heaven forbid if you have a question for him. The disdain at which he looks at you, and answers your question with, is horrible. He just rushes people through because he wants to get back outside to smoke with his buddies. I have stayed at a lot of hotels in my lifetime and he is the most rude front-desk person that I have ever dealt with. Reading other reviews on various sites, his rudeness has been the topic of many reviews. Why he continues to be employed there is beyond me. Unfortunately hotels are a very limited in Indiana, PA so we people have to "put up" with him, I suppose, since there isn't usually many places available. The cleaning staff and the lady who manages the breakfast area were incredibly nice and pleasant to chat with. Perhaps they should be the ones dealing with the customers as they are checking in. Overall the hotel is okay but it would be nice for the owners to clean house - both when it comes to the rooms (updating them) and the front-desk clerks (updating them to a...
