I stayed at your property on Saturday night June 30 2018. I don't know how your property managed to be branded at as a Comfort suites. However with all the issues I had at your property I'm sure that banding won't last long. Speaking as a previous Director of Sales at several Choice Hotels there in the Wichita KS area I doubt it will pass inspection.
Lets start with your front desk. The gentlemen that checked us in was nice and was trying his very best to take care of the people checking in, the guest calling in requests from their rooms, and people calling in trying to make reservations. However he seemed too new to have been left on his own over such a busy day. There was a basketball tournament going on in town plus it was the weekend before the 4th of July. So I'm sure your hotel was at 90-100% occupancy. Not a good first impression of you hotel when you front desk agent is overwhelmed. The lady who checked us out on Sunday July 1 2018 didn't seem to fully understand English. I was trying to talk to her about the problems I experienced during my short stay at your property however she didn't seem to understand as she just stood there looking at me and not responding. I'm all for having front desk agents that speak other languages to make it easier to assist the guest checking in that may not speak English. However you may want to pair her with someone who does fully understand English.
Next lets talk about your elevator. It stop running a couple times on Saturday. You should really get a professional out to take a look at it before someone gets trapped in there. I would also be a good idea to invest in some ventilation for your elevator. It's very stuffy I assume because the one side is glass that opens to the outside. You also may rethink your choice of flooring for the elevator and the landing area on the 1st floor. With your pool right there you run into some very dangerous situations. We experienced a large puddle of water on the elevator floor after check in. The landing area on the 1st floor stayed wet all evening on Saturday.
Then there is the room itself. The lock on room 300 needs to either be replaced or oiled because the part on the side of the door that extends to latch the door closed keeps sticking inside the door. I first experienced this around midnight. I was leaving the room, the door closed behind me however when I went to check it the door opened right back up. I thought the door was not level so I tried slamming the door and lifting the door trying to get it to latch closed. After examining the door I could see that the part that should stick out to go inside the hole to latch the door closed was stuck inside the door. I pushed on it and it released. That is a huge problem. If I had not checked to verify the door was closed and locked my room would have been unlocked and open to theft or someone to hide in my room and possibly harm me or my daughter. The A/C unit in the bedroom area of that room would not turn off. We came in late night/early morning and the room was ice cold. I turned the A/C unit to the off position however it took an hour to turn off. Once it did finally turn off it would be off for 2 or 3 minutes then it would come back on for about 5 minutes. It continued to cycle through that on off period all through the night even though the A/C unit was set to off.
Last we have breakfast. Empty food containers, dirty tables, and trash cans overflowing with no breakfast attendant in sight.
I know your property hasn't been opened very long which is one of the things that made me want to book with you all. However I can also see that the owner has tried to go the cheap route when trying to revive an old hotel. Being originally from Wichita Ks I know that the previous hotel had the reputation of a hotel that was primarily occupied by prostitutes, pimps, drug dealers and the homeless. If you all don't do something about the quality of your property that's where it's headed back to because guests like myself won't pay for the type of services you are...

Pool area had updated decor and the water was warm. We were also pleased to see it was still open when we arrived at 9pm so we were able to enjoy it before going to bed.
Entry way to the hotel was large, open and pretty, with a glass elevator.
Negatives- In our short stay we saw several bugs in our room. :( (Needs regular extermination to eliminate the problem in an old building.)
Lightning in hallways, rooms, bathrooms, pool, etc need brightened and updated. (New, brighter bulbs would be an inexpensive way to improve that in addition to updated light fixtures.)
Our room had a terrible smell, perhaps that of trying to clean a smoke smell out or trying to clean the carpet?
Our bathroom had noticeable water damage to the ceiling tiles above the shower. The bathtub spout was loose from the wall. And, the shower head was poor quality and provided very little water pressure. (Maintenance is needed.)
The carpet is very old and dirty throughout the hotel and desperately needs replaced and updated. (This would be top on my list if I were the designer or contractor.)
The inside walls and doors need repainted throughout the hotel. (This would be top priority as well to give a fresh, clean look.)
As a Gold member of Choice, we stay at a lot of Comfort Inn and Suites. This was by far the worst Comfort Inn as far as showing the age of the building and cleanliness. We were very disappointed.
I know the cost to update and replace things is very expensive but I hope some of these items are in the budget to accomplish in the near future in order to complete with other hotels in your area.
I would expect this environment in other lower level hotel chains or a hotel with a much lower cost, but we have never experienced such disappointment with a Comfort Inn in our many stays across the country.
Thank you for asking for our input. We hope it will help to improve the stay of others, however because of the many issues listed above, I would not recommend this Comfort Inn.

Read moreGreeted by very friendly personnel at desk who were very helpful. The motel sits in a very convenient location. Neat, clean, and quiet- unlike a neighboring motel which got trashier and dirtier every year I stayed there. Last year there were unsavory characters standing at all side entrances talking loudly and smoke from pot could smelled in the hallway. I really feared for my safety in that place. Thank goodness the low lifes are kept away from this motel. This motel is a fresh breath of air after staying in that flop house next door north. That is why this is my new preferred place to stay when I come for my annual cardiology appointment at Kansas Heart. I would give this motel 10 stars if I could. The breakfast was wonderful and I particularly was impressed by the lady making omelets-so pleasant and friendly. The desk lady was very welcoming and warm. I had questions about where to find some things. She not only told me but also took me where I needed to go. I had asked for a king bed but the full bed was fine. I slept well both nights and have already booked for my cardiology visit in June. This motel is such a refreshing change from the filthy dump next dòor. As I said, I slept well and the silence was wondercul after listening to people in the other motel bellow like a bull moose in the hallway and then start shouting obscenities loudly at each other. Please keep that trash away from your wonderful motel. Not a bug to be found here. Also a refreshing change from the othe place. You all at Comfort Inn at 7856 East 36th North are my home away from home when I visit Wichita. It is quite different to be a visitor after teaching in Wichita for 10 years. God bless you Comfort Inn folks. Don't...
