Doesn't even deserve the one star but unfortunately you can't rate 0. Where do I begin? My family just stayed here for a week and this is the worst motel experience I've ever had. I've never in my life seen any business establishment ran the way that they run this Super 8! First off the elevator was broken the ENTIRE time. We had to use the stairs when we came and went. There was no cable the ENTIRE time as well. I'm assuming by the contact customer service message when you turn your TV on that they failed to pay the cable bill. The WiFi is terrible! Wouldn't stay connected for more than a couple minutes. It was like that on all of our family members phones/laptops so I'm confident it was the WiFi and not our devices. We couldn't stand being in our room since there was no relaxing and watching tv! No discount for the inconvenience. I mean what motel doesn't have cable or working WiFi??! Room service never once came and knocked on our door or even attempted to offer to clean our room the entire week!!! We had to track her down to ask for clean sheets and towels and receive rude attitude and were told she didn't carry clean lines or towels on her cart we had to go down to laundry to get new ones ourselves. So I'm a little confused how she changes sheets in the rooms that were checked out of if she doesn't carry clean ones on her cart?! Motel has a serious cockroach infestation and doesn't seem to be making any attempt to get rid of them. Motel constantly smells like cigarettes and marijuana. Our room smelled like a wet dog. There was a thick layer of white dog hair all over the chair and carpet. The spring mattress was so uncomfortable but that could be due to it was literally sitting on a box frame a size smaller than the mattress and one side of the mattress was caved in and sunk down a foot. We had to shove some blankets under our mattress in between the box frame just to level it out! They said they were completely booked and couldn't move us rooms. The bathroom lightbulb was burned out some with 2 lamps in the room. Front desk doesn't appear to know the difference between what an emergency is or not and would seemingly called the police over any minor indiscretion as there was police there almost daily. They literally have an employee in the breakfast area policing the food, watching everyone like a hawk making sure they take no more than 2 muffins, etc. Seemed like she would intentionally try to get in everybody's way it was so bizarre. Also between the 7 signs posted in the breakfast room and the lady running after and screaming at anyone who tried to leave the area with even as little as a cup of juice. So don't expect to bring any sleeping family back breakfast. The girl in the room next to us was clearly a sex worker as day in and day out we had to constantly listen to her having sex with multiple men a day and she was so loud it was nauseating! I'm sure I'm forgetting quite a few things. But I'll leave it at that. Please save yourself a terrible experience and stay elsewhere. Anywhere is better than here. Management doesn't seem to know the first thing about how to run a business properly. I almost wonder if they would be able to remain open if they received an inspection. Terrible...
Read moreLooks good, like they just remodeled, but there's a lot going poorly here. First off, the whole hotel smelled like smoke. I'm certain it's an old remodel, and whatever they did they didn't get rid of the odor. There's a lot of people just loitering in the area, like it's just that part of town, so it probably wouldn't feel safe to someone who feels vulnerable.
Service: I'll start here. The receptionist wasn't rude, she just wasn't really trying at all. She gave me a room that wasn't serviced, still had someone's stuff in it even. I had to pull a u-turn and go back down from the 3rd floor. It looked like she had a paper with chicken scratch on it to keep track of serviced rooms. She also called me "hun" four times, which isn't a good thing where I'm from, but whatever. The room issue was the big thing.
Room: Smelled like smoke. Stains on the wall. Old and stained furniture. No toilet paper holder. Lol. No tissues. Old and hard towels. I work on my computer out of town, so the chair at the desk is kind of important. It was a straight metal chair. The room also had hard floor. Now, hard floor can be a premium thing in a hotel...if cleaned regularly. If it isn't, it starts getting grimy, which it was. I wiped off my feet before going to bed and putting on my socks. But maybe I'm being too strict. The plugs all worked and 6/7 light bulbs did as well. Not bad. Oh, pillows were all old and lumpy. Awful sleep.
Oh! One more thing. The shower did this weird thing where your water was either scolding or freezing. The knob wouldn't pull out, so in the middle was off and there was no in between. That made showering a challenge. Lol. If you stay in a room like that, PRO TIP, run scolding for awhile to heat up the pipes, then the cold is luke warm for a few minutes to nail a speed shower. Lol.
Location: Busy area with lots of stuff around. Just too busy. Almost sketch part of town.
Overall, very affordable but not acceptable accomodations unless you're really in a pinch. I would assume one of the other hotels in town would do better for a similar price. I hope management reads these and makes changes. They've obviously really invested in their exterior halls and lobby. They just need to...
Read moreMy daughter checked in to Super 8 hotel on North Rock Rd Wichita, KS on Sunday October 8, 2018, on October 9th around 11ish she went to pick up my 1 year nephew from the other bed and plain as day there was a full grown bedbug. She took a picture and immediately went down to the night attendant (Val) and Val took a glance at the picture and went to room 309 inspected one corner of the bed and informed my daughter she must have brought them in. my daughter was mortified and rightfully so, she asked for a refund and at first Val was starting the process and my daughter mentioned the lack of customer service and wanting to speak to the manager. Val got upset and closed the window and refused to help my daughter. The scene had no need to escalate, but my daughter after knocking on the glass and trying to talk to Val. She had no clue what to do so she called the police and the police confirmed it was a bedbug in the picture and in the end said it was a civil matter and asked my daughter to leave since the attendant was refusing service. I have video and my daughter was notable upset, but was not belligerent to the night attendant and at one point the night attendant sat down and starting eating cheese puffs and a sandwich ignoring my daughter. Another customer in the lobby talked about bedbugs in there room. I have contacted corporate and got the run around. I contacted the hotel directly and was told the GM Mark was in and out and left and message for him to call me as well as the assistant manager (would not be in till 3pm Teresa). I contacted customer service and was able to put in a “concern” they called it and got a reference number and was told I’d hear back in a week. The behavior of Val was unacceptable. Now it's nearly noon and no word back, so I am posting this in hopes Super 8 or Wyndham-Wichita that someone will contacts us back.
My daughter called the health department and they are going to the hotel today to inspect if they find evidence in two or more rooms the hotel could be temporary shut down.
I will not stop trying to get her a FULL refund and Val retrained or...
