I'm the type of person that will research just about every purchase I make. After spending considerable time researching the best tires for my Prius, I was disappointed to find out that TiresPlus is one of the few places in Wichita with the Bridgestone tire I wanted. But it seemed like a good deal on the TirePlus website so I drove to the store (my first mistake).
As a woman I feel like I have to constantly be on the look out for someone trying to take advantage of my assumed gender induced (ha!) ignorance of anything automotive. And it turns out, it's a good thing I'm an informed and observant customer for this exact reason.
After the salesman walked out to my car and looked at the tires: squatting down, feeling the tires, he suggested the tire I came in for. At this point, it seemed smooth sailing to new tires! Then it started slowly unraveling. As the other reviews indicate, they are always busy so I scheduled an appointment for the following day. Luckily I paid close attention to the screen the salesman for filling out for my order. The tires he chose were $30 more each than what I found online. I questioned him about it, even presenting the "quote" I printed from online claiming special internet pricing (which isn't special btw). This is when that always underlying demeaning tone really shines. He compares my printout to the screen and sees the tire size is different. I pushed back (because I can read numbers too!) insisting that the tires I selected online were the ones for MY CAR. Another salesman (or the manager, he was dressed slightly different than the other sales people but didn't introduce himself) comes by to back up his salesman. He claims, "All the hybrid versions have 195 size." I have a pretty good filter but my head almost exploded! Really? Really? ALL of the Prius models are hybrid. That's the point! Now, I'm just ready to get out of the store. I walk out to my car and look at the tires. And SURPRISE! I was right. I walked back into the store to make sure they don't pull the wrong tires (since I have my appt the next day) When I tell the salesman that the tires on the car are the 185 size, he's shocked and can't believe me until he sees for himself (AGAIN!).
I suppose in the end it's for the best that I had to set an appointment instead of just walk in service. I wanted to find a place to be my tire place. From the moment I left the parking lot, I couldn't shake the feeling that if I pick this place to be my tire place, I will forever be talked down to and question the knowledge and skill of the employees. I cancelled my appointment and won't be going back. Looks like I'll just pay the extra money for similar (but not quite as perfect) Michelin tires at...
Read moreI had new brakes installed, an oil change, battery replaced, and two tires patched. Very satisfied with the speed and quality of the work performed but that's where the satisfaction ended.
When I picked my truck up on a Friday afternoon, Dan was the individual conducting the transaction. He didn't seem confident with how the system worked . When I inserted my credit card into the reader, the transaction of $807.42 showed "approved". Immediately, Dan told me that was the incorrect amount and that he had "cancelled" that transaction. I asked if it was truly cancelled because of the "approved" message on the screen. He assured me it was and then we conducted another transaction for the amount of $887.42, which was also "approved"
When I checked the bank account, I saw that I had been charged twice- once for $807.52 and once for $887.52. I called the store, talked with Dan, and was assured that it was a pending charge and that it "wouldn't go through". Mind you, the additional amount of $807.52 was deducted from the account. Talked to Dan on Saturday and was told it (the "cancelled" transaction) wouldn't credit back until "the next business day".
Long story short- it is now 8 days later and I'm still out the additional charge of $807.42. I have made numerous calls and visits with no resolution. The store manager, Doug Turner did apologize but offered little other than the promise of a call from Shawn Smith, the Area Manager. As of the time of this review, neither Shawn, nor the Regional Manager, Ed Smith, have bothered to contact me. This seems like a rather apathetic approach from the store, area, and regional management.
Tyler (who I spoke to yesterday) was very understanding and tried to get some resolution from his boss, Doug but was told by Doug to "have them check back on Monday".
Bottom line: I paid $1695.04 for $887.52 worth of work. Currently disputing the charges with the bank, who initially told us we should "try and work it out with the store" (not very sound advice, there).
Message in a bottle here: If anyone from this corporation can help, please reach out to Doug, he has my...
Read moreTerrible experience! Have bought several tires here in the past and will never come back! Had a nail in my tire. My husband put fix a flat in to get us through since we were in the middle of nowhere at midnight camping. Once back in town I got an appointment to get my tire fixed. I also scheduled an oil change. They acted offended when they took the tire off and found fix a flat in it and said they wouldn’t touch that tire and there is nothing they could do for me. Then tried to sell me two new tires for $174 each after giving me the runaround for an hour and a half. I had them put the old tire with the nail back on and told them I would find someone else. They already changed my oil though. $83 later (new to me car so first oil change, not sure how much it would typically cost, but I’m thinking this is pretty high).
If you need a tire fixed, hit up Discount Tire in Derby (or probably anywhere would be better). Not only will they take care of your tire (EVEN IF IT HAS FIX A FLAT- they will just clean it out before patching, like a professional), they will do it FOR FREE. Incredible service there!
According to tires plus, they can’t fix a tire with fix a flat because the chemicals will eat up the patch. So either they don’t know what they are doing, or they are rude and lazy and don’t care to retain any of their...
