We came into town for my dad's funeral. I reserved 2 rooms and called in advance to let them know we would be arriving late on Thursday as our flight landed at 11:15 pm. After a slight delay in Denver, we arrived at the hotel at 12:30, tired and exhausted. We saw there was a sign saying the attendant had stepped away and to dial "0" on the lobby phone directly behind us only to hear the phone ring at the front desk in front of us. We stood in the lobby for 15 minutes before Sara came strolling back to the front desk with no apologies for making us wait. We finally received the keys to our rooms on the 3rd floor. The first room was great, but the second room was full of cleaning supplies, a vacuum, and one of the beds was unmade. We went back downstairs to let Sara know. Still, no apology. Her reply, "I wish they would mark the rooms if they were not available." She gave us a key to another room, which she said was an upgrade. We go to that room, only to find it occupied by another guest. Mind you, it was super late and the situation could have been much worse if that guest came after us. Went back downstairs to let Sara know that there was already someone in that room. Her reply, "What the heck!' At this point, I was super frustrated and beyond tired and told her to just cancel the 2nd room and we would all just stay in one room and told her I would speak to the manager in the morning. The next morning, I did speak with a young man, who said he was the manager. He didn't seem all that interested in what happened as he did not try to go out of his way to rectify the situation. He just said the room was canceled and there was no charge for the room. If we did not have so much to do to get ready for my dad's funeral we would have gone to another hotel. The customer service was horrible and the fact they were not too concerned about us entering an occupied room at 1:00 am was mind boggling. The young lady who checked us out on our last day was actually very nice and apologized for the situation. She said she that she does not usually work at the location, but would be sure to let management know about the situation. For future trips to Wichita, the Hampton will not be on my list of places to stay. It's really too bad, because it's a nice hotel in a...
Read moreI frequent many Hilton brand hotels for work and personal travel, often at Hamptons, Home2 Suites or Homewood Suites. This Hampton was the best Hampton I’ve stayed in a long time! Hampton is usually great for its simplicity and decent cost for the room, but for some reason this property really impressed me. I only stayed one night, but multiple nights for a business trip would also be comfortable.|You can count on a clean hotel, nice room space and a decent included breakfast. If in the Wichita area again, I’d definitely consider this hotel for a future stay.|Pros: |Quiet – never heard other guests (I did select a top floor room when checking in on the APP) and no revving cars on nearby roads.|Location – plenty of dining/shopping nearby|AC/thermostat function – I LOVED that I could keep the AC functioning while still having the fan at constant on. This is a big deal for me as I appreciate the white noise, but also need to know AC will work through the night. While the unit wasn’t particularly quiet when the AC cycled on/off, it was still a big positive for me.|Appreciated the liquid hand soap, as well as a bar soap.|Coffee/Tea bar was adequately stocked with a good variety.|Oatmeal and toppings were good. I did miss having an English muffin option in the bread box, but there were other bread items available as typical.|Room with water views are really nice. I didn’t get a chance to walk on the trails, but they looked nicely maintained.|Cons:|The room could use a shade system integrated into the window for more complete light blocking. The decorative shades did pretty good, but there was still light pollution coming in from the edges.|The mattress seemed well-used and not very supportive at all – I didn’t sleep well because of it, but I find this the case in many of the Hamptons and Home2Suites...
Read moreUgh I hate leaving poor reviews, especially because I love staying here usually on business but my most current stay was extremely frustrating and NOISY. It is typically quiet, but tonight has been extremely loud in the hall and just constant noise with constant closing/slamming doors and foot traffic. There were a lot of young 20ish somethings staying on my floor when I checked in and that made me super nervous just for the noise factor. I got to my room and love the convenience of the digital key, I had traveled and worked for 12hours... I had my hands full with dinner and my luggage and my digital key didn’t work. I called the front desk with expectation that someone would just come up to the 3rd floor and let me in or they could reset my digital key. Well they made me come all the way back down to the lobby to get it sorted out, with my dinner in hand. Then at about 9:45 there was a constant pounding on my door. They were 20 something aged kids and I didn’t know who they were. The knocking got more and more aggressive and inappropriate. I called the desk and basically made a noise complaint. They said they would send someone up but the noise level and commotion on my floor hasn’t really stopped since it started about 8:30. I unfortunately will probably choose to stay at a different location going forward. They did handle my requests today and noisy guests I understand they can’t always control but I know I won’t get a good nights sleep. So staying...
