Quite possibly the best breakfast in Wichita. Prices ($7-$10 for most of the menu) are roughly the same as IHOP & Denny’s, but you get locally sourced food that supports the community! My wife & I split a chocolate croissant to start, then I moved on to the Croque Madame (double) and she had the avocado toast. We were both blown away! Chocolate croissant ($4) - locally sourced from Crust & Crumb, this was a warm, light, and flakey croissant with a generous, yet not overwhelming, portion of a bittersweet chocolate. There were no hints of Hershey’s to be found here. I tried texting a picture to a friend only to realize I’d already almost finished my half! Avocado Toast ($8 I think) - locally sourced everything, and it was a millennial‘s dream come true. Served with eggs and fresh fruit, my wife’s reaction was pure silence. She was blown away. Croque Madame ($7.50, +$2 for double) - as you’ll see in my attached picture, I couldn’t wait to try this one. The egg was delightfully cooked sunny-side up with a runny center (just how I like it), and the ham tasted fantastic - almost like a super thick cut of bacon. The hollandaise was creamy and rich, and the toast was golden. This, folks, was the crème de la créme! Oh, and I totally forgot to mention the freshly squeezed orange juice! Dangerously good! We will certainly be back for more. I can only hope that Alton Brown makes this a stop on his next trip to Wichita!

The westside HomeGrown, just south of Maize and 29th Street North. Widely popular in Wichita for being a locally sourced meal option, this restaurant presents a theme of kindness with a rustic touch of decor. My latest visit was for the highly praised Eggs Benedict Florentine. This creative version was well presented and the eggs combined wonderfully with the bacon topping and English muffin, and the hollandaise sauce had good flavor but unfortunately had hardened, which brought the dish down a peg. Pancakes and hot chocolate looked great and were well received by the family, making it an overall nice breakfast. The real downfall here is the small size of the dining area compared to the huge amount of customers coming into this location. Space is limited for the amount of people packed inside, wait times can be discouraging, and then some of the tables are far too tiny to achieve any comfort while eating. This makes the atmosphere feel tight and the staff is pushed too hard in this crowded environment. I will come back but on a warmer morning to try out the more spacious looking patio or to try the intriguing bar area. I recommend HomeGrown West for the food potential only, but also suggest avoiding peak hours at all costs.

This was my first time here at Homegrown here in Wichita. . It's been on my places to eat breakfast/ brunch for a while. So we ventured on out to the other side of Wichita today. Man, am I glad we did. First of all the staff is so friendly. We got seated right away. Beating the lunch rush. Loved how cozy the booth was. Not to small, not too big, just right. 5 stars on seating alone. Now it's time to order, and there are so many great looking options. I'm just stuck. So we decided to try the Cinnamon Swirl French Toast and the West Coast Omelet. You can go wrong with either of these options. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Yes, I did! We jumped on the train to flavor town. 🤪 The French toast was amazing. They have to have a slicer in the back. The slices well beyond Texas Toast. The side of bacon was 4 nice slices. I'm talking about huge. Not your Safeway, Walmart, or Dillons bacon. This is that out on the farm sliced bacon. The Omelet was a work of art. Tasting just as good. The eggs are super fluffy with that English muffin and potatoes. Come on and stop it some more. In conclusion, I'll be back to take on that menu. Don't make the same mistake I did, and yes, it was worth the 2 hour drive. 🏃🏽‍♂️💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨

Ok. This place is ridiculously tasty. My husband first took our toddler son here, and then the three of us went, and then my son and I have gone. Each time I have gone the food has been fabulous. I had biscuits and gravy the first time, they came with rosemary potatoes, and eggs (I got them scrambled), I also got orange juice to drink and my husband ordered some coffee cake for us all to share. I must tell you that the Orange juice is freshly squeezed everyday and while the batch that we got was DELICIOUS, I was told that it may vary depending on the batch of oranges that are used. The eggs were tasty, the biscuits and gravy were THE most flavorful I've ever had. I've always been a skeptical person when I order biscuits and gravy from anywhere...and they've always been bland and dry; THESE biscuits and gravy were delicious! Lots of flavor, not at all dry. I was pleasantly surprised. While the coffee cake was also tasty, my favorite item on my plate had to be the rosemary potatoes. If I could get the recipe I'd die a happy girl. The most flavorful, delicious potatoes I've ever had.

The second time I went (with my kiddo) I ordered an omelette with sausage and cheese, they also came with potatoes and an english muffin (ordered OJ again---still so good!!). The potatoes were again my favorite part of the meal, the omelette was delicious with lots of flavor and a generous amount of sausage. The English muffin was large and they brought their homemade strawberry/raspberry jam (I didn't know it came with), and THAT is SO good (I'd also love the recipe and would die a happy girl).

My son has ordered the funfetti pancakes, has had sausage and bacon, and scrambled eggs. He's had milk and orange juice. He LOVES it all. He really likes the "sprinkles" inside the pancakes, they're so "beautiful". The bacon is his favorite part of his breakfast, then the pancakes. He does like the sausage , but prefers the bacon.

My husband (i'm sorry I don't remember what he ordered) did rave about his meals when he visited twice.

We think the price is well worth the quality and quantity that we are getting.

Overall, we're incredibly impressed with this eatery, and are looking forward to...

Left this review on website contact page:

I would like to make a formal complaint against the West Wichita Homegrown restaurant. My husband and I sat at the bar this previous Sunday, December 1st, and had what was quite possibly some of the worst, negligent, inhospitable, and outright bad service we’ve ever encountered. Upon sitting at the bar we were glared at and when my husband said “good morning!”, the only response was a quip by one of the bartenders, “it’s not morning anymore, it’s the afternoon.” Aside from taking our order, that was the only thing she said to us. From then on, things got worse. Our drinks were never refilled, no one said another word to us - no “how was your meal?”, “can I get you something else?” - nothing at all. I know this wasn’t something unique to us, because a man sitting at a table behind us had to get up, reach across our food and grab a bottle of hot sauce because the same bar staff had neglected to check on him, too. The other server behind the bar was preoccupied trying to find a spot to place her phone so she could watch a hockey game. Several times she stopped right in the middle of her job to stare at her phone, all the while ignoring every customer seated at the bar. She would’ve never known we needed anything either because she had her ear with her earbuds in turned to us. An elderly woman to the left of us literally had to wave her arms to get the attention of said waitress, nor did the waitress say anything to her when she paid, tipped, and left. The gentleman sitting to the right us received the same cold service when he paid - absolute zero cordiality. Finally, we ourselves left and didn’t get so much as a “thanks”, either. The whole experience was beyond disappointing. That level of bad service is a choice by those two staff, not an off day or a coincidence. We will never go back, and I will be posting this review. Thank you,...
