I have stayed here multiple times with one other guest. I'm considered a senior so review will focus on that perspective. The last stay other guest had business and caught up in WEBN firework traffic. Check in was on Sunday. Reserved room for (2) nights but ended up extending stay one day at a slightly higher price. There's a decent pizza restaurant, a nice theatre, a couple of 100 feet from parking lot. I have visited both. There is no highway noise which is a huge plus. Breakfast was o.k. and I remember coffee being a little better but it wasn't great as they may have switched brands. Some of the mini creamers had curdled. All else was decent. Dining area is clean but T.V. option is only FOX news? Last day or so, no volume. They use "Direct T.V." and you can't use closed captioning nor view upcoming programs. If HVAC unit is loud, hard to hear. The AC was very inconsistent and thermostat was out of order. Bathroom was wonderfully clean but one roll of toilet paper, especially for senior guests. It takes time to get the little extras such as fresh towels, more than one shampoo, etc. Their prices have risen but their occupancy was clearly low. The staff seem to gel well together which is a plus. There was one new male employee who couldn't find reservation when I first arrived. My name was entered in wrong order I think he said. I had requested away from elevator and near a laundry room. Noticed that the laundry room never seems to be cleaned. I have for my own comfort a spray cleaner and borrowed a cleaning rag to wipe down folding table as it was dirty and the left behind debris out of washer. The trash in can was never removed in the 3 days. It had other people's food/carry out and smelled. The room, as I said clean. Light bulb over vanity counter out and that's happened before but it is probably the fixture not bulb. Toilet a bit low flush and needs to be anchored down. My only real complaint was constantly having to walk down to front desk to get a new key card. I lost count of how many I had to get. I also know to keep them away from your cell phone. Would I...
Read moreFor a "2-star" hotel (according to Google) this is a decent place and a good value. It's generally clean and functional which is always a gamble with low and mid-range Choice Hotels. I give 4 stars because my first room (309) reeked of cigarette smoke but my next room (307) was great - had no smell and it was cleaner. Had no issues asking for another room but the front desk attendant disappeared for a bit after I informed him of the issue and then came back and took a long time to finish what he was doing to get me a new room while I just stood there awkwardly for the better part of 10 minutes. It appeared he was writing/filing a report or something about the issue but maybe he was just in the middle of something else, I don't know. He could have been a little more communicative. The hotel is modern but showing signs of wear and tear - chips in the paint on the walls as well as gashes, scrapes, scuff marks, and scratches in the rooms, hallways, elevator, stairwells. Not terrible overall but definitely abused. There is only one elevator 3/4 of the way down the hall on one side of the building which is inconvenient when your room is at the other end of the hall. The 3rd floor stairs only go down to the ground and the other stairwell only goes between the 1st and 2nd floors which I found out the hard way after trying to walk up to the 3rd floor. Still this hotel has a lot going for it: 15-17 minutes from the airport - just far enough to still be close but out of the way of the congestion and noise of the airport area, 10 or less from most other places you need to be, and its immediate surroundings can't be beat - a great pizza joint, a Dairy Queen, a decent pub and a movie theater all within walking distance and 2 big gas stations at the top of the hill. The free breakfast was also really good as far as hotel breakfasts go plus they have waffle maker. Good enough for me...
Read moreIt was a lovely stay. Peaceful. The staff were kind, helpful and attentive. The only real thing(s) that would be useful are just a few... getting some caulking in the bottom corners and sides of the showers, cleaning the rust (or whatever that was) from the shower head spickets and attention to detail for housekeeping with management investing in a duster. The blow dryer in the bathroom hadn't been wiped clean nor dusted. There was a lifesaver gummy at the top of the headboard, something I noticed immediately upon walking into the room but had probably been there for some time as there was a massive amount of dust up there as well. I left it. I didn't want to kick up dust that would fall on our pillows or sheets before bed. A spider web had made a home next to the inoperable wall vent that hadn't been captured by a duster. Leaves and other particles were stuck and hanging from it. I also left that there. The fabric chairs hold germs and dirt. Probably better to invest in chairs that can be cleaned/sanitized or properly maintained; where the dirt and dust cannot be easily seen. I saw one ant in my room. I captured it. A bit paranoid after that, but sucked it up and assured no food or snacks were left out in the open. I didn't see anymore ants after that and best believe I was looking. The door on the refrigerator had food crumbs and finger grime. Lastly, the one elevator had some strange carpet in there. The carpet and floor surrounding it just looked unkept. It was interesting for an indoor elevator floor, where it would seem like a lovely polished floor would be ideal and easier to maintain. Additionally, giving the hotel a more clean feel and appearance. Nonetheless, attention to detail. All in all, grateful for a place to stay, the free breakfast options and the peaceful location...
