I'm confused and somewhat befuddled. Presidents have eaten here? Obama stayed here? I've been living in the area for a long time and have always been mystified by the idea of eating at "the inn."
TLDR: In my opinion, the place is a disaster. We drove up, not greeted by anyone--two people chatting at the door opened it for us (it was more awkward than helpful) didn't seem to notice we were waiting out there for the valet--who turned out to be busy chatting. Did you guys forget that hospitality is the first thing? Okay, no biggie--we aren't the president, or VIPs, we are just showing up at a place that has mystic. We have expectations. After the first 15min, I wanted to goto 5 guys.
We get seated, the "assistant waiter" brings us water. After 10 min, I ask the manager to send our waiter. She walks by, hands full of dishes (HANDS FULL OF DISHES), telling us she would be back in a few... Is this fine dining? I've seen better service at Denny's. Our waiter seemed to be working as a bus boy... for most of the night. Poor woman. The manager--was doing nothing.
I want to mention that our waiter did spend some time with someone else that came in after us, so--dealing with her friends that show up randomly and sit in the dining room--is more important than your customers that haven't even been greeted. Again--poor management.
No worries... I get it. People have other stuff going on--I want to continue this review but it is a waste of my time.
Stay away if you have expectations of fine dining. The service was nice but horribly untrained and unequipped to handle anyone who knows what good service is--the food was good, not world class or anything--but not any better than the other bistros/restaurants in town.
To the management: You aren't training your people. You clearly are ripping people off. You aren't managing or helping in the dining room. People want to spend good money but -- honestly, i'd rather pass. I watched you guys--you're lucky you don't work for me. HELP YOUR STAFF BE SUCCESSFUL... you...
Read moreVery dog-friendly. Of the three on-site** Colonial Williamsburg hotels we’ve stayed at with our dogs, we were made to feel the most welcomed and comfortable at the Williamsburg Inn.
Friendly, helpful service. They brought in a larger mini-fridge for our dogs’ food when I asked at booking. Spacious room with plenty of room for 2 medium-size dog crates, a south-facing view of the golf course, and our room was at the end of the East wing where it was quiet and close to a side door. We even had a special dog-specific “do not disturb” sign so that staff knew our dogs were in the room. A dog water and food bowl was placed in the room too. We had a comfy couch and sitting chair. The nearby outdoor area had a convenient trash receptacle for when we picked up after our dogs.
They allowed us to walk our dogs through the lobby to enjoy the terrace seating area.
Convenient on-site restaurant options. Easy walk to nearby Taverns for dinner, Colonial Williamsburg, and Market Square. We appreciated the complimentary access to the golf practice areas and how close they were to our room. Really enjoyed a massage and amenities at the nearby Spa.
Thank you Kendall at the Terrace Room bar for the customer-centered service.
Thank you Housekeeping staff for making our room spotless each day and for responding so quickly to clean our room when I called to let them know we were leaving with the dogs for a few hours.
**The Griffin Hotel had nice large rooms and was quiet but no in-hotel amenities.
**The Williamsburg Lodge is run by Marriott and we did not feel welcomed there in 2022. The room was underground and too small to comfortably fit 2 crates. Dogs were prohibited in the lobby and...
Read moreMy wife and I have never stayed at a hotel as luxurious, and accommodating as the Williamsburg Inn this past weekend. For us, it was an anniversary celebration. Never in a million years did we expect to be spoiled like we were by ALL of the employees at the Williamsburg Inn. From the bellmen, to the lobby staff, to the housekeeping staff, to the waiters, to the waitresses, we owe you the biggest thank you for spoiling us like we've never been spoiled. The Williamsburg Inn is now our FAVORITE hotel and we are itching to get back. If only all hotels could give this level of service and dedication to excellence, no one would ever complain about hotels ever again. We love the history of the hotel, including the many dignitaries who have stayed here. The chocolates, and turn down service at night time as we came back from dinner both nights was extraordinary and mind blowing. My advice to you, is please add this hotel to your bucket list. You will never regret staying at this diamond in the most beautiful city in America, Colonial Williamsburg. You owe it to yourself, and most importantly your family to give them the love and attention that the staff at the Williamsburg Inn will sprinkle upon you. It will be the stay of a lifetime. We will never forget this memorable stay as it holds a special place in our hearts. Thank you again to all of the Williamsburg Inn staff who treat all of your customers with the highest respect, and sensational quality of service that...
